Secret Garden Hostel

Just went for dinner. Besides the chill atmosphere I was fortuned to have a great chat with the host, Mike. He welcomed me and made great recommendations on the menu, which feature a Vietnamese and a western style cuisine, executed really wel. Best meal I had so far on my stay at Cat ba. 5/5 would recommend.

Had the most wonderful time Here! Met some interesting people and had the best food. Especially with so many vegetarian and vegan options. Even if you dont end up staying here. (which you totally should!) Please do go for a meal as its really really good!

Outstanding stay! Highly recommend! The private rooms are quite a bit higher than the local hotels but very much worth it! Small pool, pool table, quirky lounge areas, food was that good people were coming here just to eat! The smart tvs in the room connect to YouTube which is great! Highly recommend!

We weren’t guest in the hostel (we haven’t book a room), but we met other people who did. So we ate there 3 days! Awesome staffs, very good and various food menu, very cosy place. Beds and rooms shall be also good and big.
So I would highly recommend it.

Best place ever. Spend every day in the restaurant after discovering it because we loved it so much. Amazing atmosphere, great food, sometimes live concerts. Make sure to stop by :)

We did not stay here. But the food and drinks are great and it is just a nice place to hang out. Came back the next night for Some food and drinks as well!

Oh my goodness, secret garden was incredible! It felt safe, welcoming and peaceful. The staff were extremely friendly and the atmosphere was lively! We stayed in a private room the first night, then in dorms the second and third. We ended up extending our stay in Cat Ba, and wanted to stay at secret garden but they were all booked out! We were bummed because we had to move to a hotel that wasn’t as nice. Highly recommend just committing to it and staying your whole trip here. The ~only~ thing was staff came in our dorm room at 8am while we were still sleeping and turned the lights on and started cleaning a bit. Not sure what that was about as checkout wasn’t till 12. Overall though, completely worth it!

Without a doubt this place is a gem on Cat Ba island. We had the most excellent time here at Secret Garden. The hostel is light and airy, full of interesting art and lush plants. Literally everything on the food menu was delicious, but the absolute highlight was the Viet iced milk coffee - ooof! We lost count of how many we had, they were so good. Quality tunes on the speakers too!

The staff were just the coolest, friendliest most helpful people we met on Cat Ba & possibly all of Vietnam!

The receptionist was the most helpful and kind lady ever. She helped us with everything and was extremely accomodating with everything. We went on a tour with the hostel which was great as well.

Great location, lovely staff. If you’re an early sleeper, be aware there is live music til 10pm on weeknights ☺

The staff here is incredibly friendly, the rooms are comfortable, the vibe is laid back but fun, and the food is great as well. I will definitely be coming back here again.

Its a small hostel. If you're traveling light and want a clean, nice, welcoming place to stay, look no further. Must try their Iced Milk Coffee!

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Staff are so friendly and always smiling and helpful. Rooms are spacious and have curtains. Food is amazing and great value for money. Couldn't recommend more
