Essex Card Shop

I have been coming to this shop for nearly 20 years. I'm so glad that they were able to rebuild after the fire. The proprietor and staff are always kind and welcoming. If you need office supplies, or a holiday card, or a small gift, or the use of a fax or copying machine, I highly recommend making them your first (and probably only) stop.

What a gem!!! I was looking for a good quality, not cringe postcards from New York but I have found So much more!! Puzzles, bags, socks, a lot of cute little things. Highly recommended!!!

A very nice store, very much needed in the East Village. It's always had whatever we're looking for, and the staff is super nice. Today the man behind the counter gave my daughter free New Year's Eve glasses and each of us a chocolate. When we got home, there was a "6" birthday candle in our bag, which we hadn't bought: he must have seen us looking at the candle display and heard me asking her to point to the "6" for her upcoming birthday and just snuck it in--so sweet!

This shop is a real down-to-earth gem of the East Village, and a worthy place to put your $$. You can find anything from the item you came for, to something you haven't seen since your childhood hidden away in the corner. Notebooks, art supplies, party gear + more. The owner is a special guy, always with great conversation and a smile on his face. This place came back strong after a devastating fire, go support so they can keep their spot alive in the EV!

Such a great store and wonderful staff, not least owner Muhammad. Many times I've looked for an item elsewhere thinking it's not the kind of thing Essex Card Shop carries, couldn't find it, then sure enough, Essex has it - I mean way beyond stationery. Couldn't get my favorite Clairefontaine notebooks anywhere else during the time they were closed after the fire; the day they reopened I walked in and there was a fresh stack of them right there. Please support this awesome local business!

Essex Card Shop! A legend of the East Village. I'm still so happy that they survived the fire and are back, better than ever. So much useful stuff and wonderful staff and such an important part of the neighborhood.

What a fantastic store. I came in with a unique request for a package that I was delivering and Aslam went above and beyond to help me out. He offered me multiple options and allowed me to pick and choose what I liked best and remained patient throughout. He told me about how they recently reopened after a fire forced them to close, but you cannot tell as this store has everything you need for stationary, packaging, and more. This place is worth your business!

A one stop shop for gifts, art supplies, notebooks, home goods - if you need it, they will have it. Aslam is so kind and helpful - this is the kind of place neighborhoods are made of.

Nice local shop with some souvenirs and other chachkies, but I thought the store had a pretty solid collection of art supplies, you can take a look through the photos and come to your own conclusion. It also has all the items you’d need for shipping packages, a wide variety of envelopes, etc. Has greeting cards as well. Definitely a good store to have around. Also has a notary.

This place is so special. Always has been but there’s something much more special after the fire. The owners are so genuine and the store is packed with so many fun things (I can’t bring my toddler anywhere near!). Your day is made better anytime you step foot in here.

What more to add than what others have already posted? I somehow missed this place and its been right under my nose all these years. No worries, one nice chat with Aslam and I feel like I'm already a regular. There's nothing like a local purveyor who knows what's good in notebooks and stationary. You may go in there looking for that trusty French notebook you've always relied on, only to be introduced to something Swedish or Japanese to add to the pile. A papyrophile's dream.

This spot is the best! Great selection of journals, pens and much more with excellent vibes. Support local businesses not Target.

This shop has every office supply I am ever looking for (printer ink too) and a huge inventory of local souvenirs, party accessories, toys, cards, and shipping - you name it. The guys that work here are so helpful and hospitable. Check this store out before you go anywhere else cause they probably have what you’re looking for. I’m always amazed at how much inventory they have and it’s high quality and carefully selected.

You can literally buy anything you need from this shop! From kitchen supplies to stationary to art supplies, you will always find what you need. The staff is very kind and they offer fantastic prices.

Great place to buy supplies. With the new renovations supplies are easier to shop for. Owner and his family really go out of their way to help you if you are unable to find what you are looking for.

This place makes you feel like a smile is the most important thing in the world. It has a great selection of paper, pens, notebooks, art supplies - as well as games, gifts, and party supplies. I go there for the cool Japanese and French notebooks. The friendly staff has a willingness to engage and are genuinely care. It's a favorite place on the Lower East Side and I'm glad the word it getting out.

This store is perfect. It reminds me of the kind of place I’d go as a kid, looking for a toy and having to bypass row after row of paper goods. Mr. Aslam and Essex Card Shop took me on a trip down memory lane. This time, though, it was in fact stationery I needed (though I took some time admiring the toys). I found just the planner I needed, along with dozens of other things I wanted, with the added benefit of Mr. Aslam’s warmth and infectious positivity. Shop here!

I love Essex Card Shop. I was so relieved that they reopened after the horrible fire. Whether I need to pick up a birthday card and some stickers, specific sized envelopes to mail orders for my small business, or office supplies like the Micron pens I use, I know they've got me covered. They also have a great selection of notebooks, art supplies, and cute & unexpected little things that I enjoy browsing and treating myself to. It's a bright, clean, welcoming store, and the owner and staff are always friendly and helpful. It's so nice to have a place like this to go to in the neighborhood!

This is the same store that closed due to the fire on 3rd and Ave A! Neighborhood store that has been opened for 20+ years. Has lots of pen and stationary, always something new to test out!!
