Cheapo Records

One of the greatest music and pop culture stores I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. I’m a fan of cassettes, which are usually found in-person as incredibly pricey and/or damaged. Cheapo’s features a wall full of well-organized, affordable cassettes in great shape! There’s even 50 cent replacement cases! I paid much less for the same amount I’d previously bought at stores like Mr. Zero’s in Roseville. I recommend it to anybody looking for a good second-hand music store.

Very cheap cassettes with a wide variety! There were only a handful that went above 5 dollars. The most expensive cassette there was just 20$ and that was the only one. Majority are priced about 1.95. Anything above that and they are probably in a special case anyway. The cassettes were all organized well too! Love that! They are mainly a record store and had a ton of records and CDs along with other merchandise from bands and other media. I will be back another time. :)

I love Cheapo. I've been coming since 1992 and it's one of my favorite things in the Twin Cities. On a visit home I went to their new location (they were displaced from their Uptown home by yet another condo) and left with $120 worth of random CD's and DVDs. They have new stuff sprinkled in with the old, but the real pleasure is browsing the well organized and ample stacks for assorted weirdness. I travel a lot and like looking for Used CD stores wherever I am. This is easily one of the best in the nation - and they still have three locations.

A temple to recorded music, the like of which hasn't been seen since the late 80's. They have CD's, records, posters, t-shirts, and music paraphernalia and lots of it. The CD's and records are both new used at reasonable to awesome prices.

Awesome place to visit for used and new cds, vinyl, cassettes, etc! One of the best selections in the area.

Great selection of vinyl, and many surprise rare finds when looking through the weekly incoming section. This place really does have something for everyone. Found a record here that doesn't have photos on Discogs yet and I'm thinking about emailing for a shipping invoice for it.

I haven't been to many Cheapos. This was a very large and sprawling, open floor warehouse of everything good and music. It was fun seeing VHS and cassettes too. Movies, posters, merchandise. There was a large vinyl selection too. Almost made me want to get a player. I'm sure if I had something in mind to buy, I would've found it. Very organized. It's close to where I live, so I look forward to visiting again.

The selection here is really great for new issue vinyl, as well as used vinyl. Their prices are reasonable, and at least comparable to other top record stores in the city. They have a great selection of t-shirts as well. If you go, be ready to spend hours shopping! It's a lot of fun!

I've always loved this spot for getting good deals on used CDs. They also have an extensive vinyl selection with recent pressings of many classic albums all well as used LPS. Make sure you check out the CD box sets behind the checkout counter.

Great service as well, the cashier saved me 15 bucks when he noticed a new CD I was purchasing just came in used. Of course I threw those savings at another album..

Excellent selection of used vinyl. I always find different albums every time I go and last time was no different. I think I got somewhere between 12 and 15. And my total only came to $40 or so. Excellent value and you just might find what you're looking for.

Absolutely love Cheapo. Been shopping there for years. Always have a great selection and good used bins. Definitely set aside some time for deep digging!

This place is amazing. I'm so glad I made the trip. I would much rather go to a store and pick up an album while talking to people about music. I would recommend visiting Cheapo if you want a fun music experience. The prices are great too. I found an out of print CD for cheap!

So many CDs and vinyls to look through. The used stuff are super cheap and worth picking up. Huge variety of music, something for everyone.
