Thrifty Peanut

I had passed by this place a couple times and put it on my “to visit” list, and I finally got to stop in today! I didn’t bring in my reusable bag with me because I didn’t know what I was walking into.. but I definitely should have! I ended up with an armful of books in a short amount of time. They have an awesome thriller/suspense section along with a great YA section. Quality of books I purchased were great! I got a couple of books from a newer series in the YA section and they looked brand new, for half the price. I’ll definitely have to bring a couple bags with me next time, because there were sections I didn’t get to check out this time. The employees also give you lots of space and don’t make you feel rushed or pressured, they just let you explore! Thrifty Peanut has become my new favorite bookstore!

This is an amazing store. We do not visit Shreveport without stopping in for a look. The movie and book selection is incredible. The staff is very helpful and always accommodating. Stop in and browse, you will love it!

If you need to find your favorite author stop by and visit. They have a very BIG SELECTION of books to choose from. The employee's were very nice and friendly. They told me where to look and I found what I was looking for. They helped me carry my selection of books from the shelf to the register and the to my vehicle. Will definitely be a regular and bring my old books to them. Thanks for all your help ladies. May God bless you all.

I was surprised to find such a wonderful selection of books. My only complaint is how much money I spent. I found too many great books.

This is the COOLEST and biggest book store I’ve been to! They have everything and it’s well organized and so fun to look through. We spent hours looking through everything! 10/10 fantastic experience and the pricing is great!

Loads of material. Lots of classics and some new stuff too, it was a little over whelming so make sure you have a little time on your hands for a good experience.
Customer service was great!

I have been here once before,but didn't know there was an upstairs area also. Pretty good sized place.

UPDATE: Went today and this place is still awesome after all these years.

A slew of books, etc. with good organization and helpful staff. You can also bring in your books that you have read and don’t know what to do with them next and join the point system that has been set up. Books are slightly used and in good condition with excellent pricing. ❤

The Thrift Peanut is a diamond in the rough. Once you walk past those doors your whole world changes. They have every kind of book you could ever imagine. They have nice cozy areas to sit and review your books before you buy them. The staff is always extremely helpful and lead you in the right direction. They also have an option for them to purchase your books, just see the cashier for more information. I absolutely could get lost in here every time I go.

I really didn't get far into the store because I was looking for particular books but I absolutely love this place. It was my first visit and the staff was very friendly. The books are well organized from what I could tell. The staff also was very knowledgeable about where exactly the books are. The music was ambient and the vibe was great.

My favorite place of heaven , I m a bookworm totally and to come in here and find a book and a corner chair and hide away and go into a Adventure is exciting love this place

Gorgeous buy sell trade book store! Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff! I'd rather go here than to B&N or BAM!. Really great selection of books, records, CD, DVDs, games and more. The staff knows there collection well and will gladly help you find what you're looking for. A book lovers paradise, I spent over three solid hours there! Highly recommend dropping in!

Best used bookstore in the area. Give them your books you no longer need for credit toward future purchases.

A hidden gem. A well organized used bookstore with an exceptional amount of well maintained books. If you love books, expect to be there for a while.

Great store! Frequent this place quite a bit!!! Almost once a month! Have a great array of books at awesome prices. Of course these books are either previously owned or secured from other vendors, but because they are older books, the value of the purchases are reduced considerably. For me, the older books are quite resourceful, given what it is that I am looking for. I believe that it has something for everybody --- cookbooks, pet books, children books, history books, finance books, health books, religious books, etc. A gold mine!

I adore the thrifty peanut! It's so fun to explore and get lost it. Virtual treasure trove of literature and other goodies. I can spend hours inside. The prices aren't horrible. Definitely better than Barnes and noble but not as good as some resellers. But the selection is incomparable. Plus sometimes the things you find are Priceless so it's worth the hunt. Plus it's been years since I found a bookstore that took trade-ins for credit. Very nostalgic on that point. But also if you live in Shreveport and you're looking for a cheap fast way to build your library look up the friends of the Shreveport memorial library on Facebook and watch for their yearly sales. They only have him a couple times a year but the prices are incredible and the selection is even better. Just get there early!

I love Thrifty Peanut. You can take your old unwanted books and media in and donate it or sell it. You can receive store credit. The folks are nice. I like the store because they actually organize their products and they are easier to find if you know where to look!🧐
