Gamers' Haunt

My husband recently got me into magic and I have been visiting this shop 1-2x a week for various game nights ever since. Charlotte and her staff and very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. They have TONS of singles stocks and are quick to help with a list. I love this place!

We were very happy to learn there was a Magic shop here while we are visiting. We went in. We were ignored. In 12 minutes the only thing anyone said was you need to pull your mask higher up. My husband asked for help several times. He was told HE could not look at cards but if he had a list they would look for him. He said I have a list right here. The lady just turned and walked away. Every person that came in after us was talked with and helped. My husband told her he was looking to buy some very expensive cards. She says nobody has any old cards...did not even ask to SEE what he wanted.. (and some people DO have the valuable cards because
WE do) Some of the cards on his list are valued at $1k...you would THINK a shop would want his business. As we walked out the door he said if nobody wants to take my money I guess I will go on and leave...that still didn't get anyone interested in selling him anything. Apparently if you aren't local they do not want your business so my opinion is don't waste your time and give your money to a shop that wants your business!

Update: April 2022. We came back to Ashville and my husband wanted to give them another chance. We were remembered and received a sincere apology. She helped my husband find several cards he wanted. The experience was 100% better. I am changing my original 1* review. He didn't spend as much as he would have last year (because he found some of the ones he had been looking for). But he is very happy with his purchases and I think he intends to order more via mail. The service was excellent, professional and felt like she sincerely wanted to help. So, if you are in the area and looking for Magic Cards I would now highly recommend planning a stop here.

I’ve been coming to Gamers’ Haunt regularly for a couple years now and it is truly a special place. The selection of products — both sealed and singles for Magic: the Gathering as well as lots of D&D accessories, just see the photos for examples from when I stopped in today — will excite fans every time they come by. But I also just love the clientele, the vibe that is helpful and welcoming to everyone. It’s a great place to play some pickup games or come for one of their regular tournaments. I have met and made friends here. They’ve done a great job making this a fun place to shop and spend time, which is why I’ve done quite a bit of both since moving to Asheville.

love this place! they can get very busy especially on event nights so if you're from out of town and havent checked the schedule be prepared to have some patience w the lovely staff

This is a great place. Went for a FNM with a new player and the group we played with was so kind. It was so welcoming and the staff was awesome. Will definitely be coming again

Staff is fantastic. They make you feel like family rather than just a customer. It's a great place for Friday Night Magic.

This may be the only real option to play Magic in Asheville but it's a killer place that is lovingly maintained by the owner and staff. Welcoming community of players and a casual environment to enjoy the game.

They have a solid selection of sleeves, deck boxes and singles. Went for Friday Night Magic and it was great. Highly recommend, I will be going back.

Staff is super friendly. I've been joining the weekly D&D games for a while now and it's always a good time. Love the little group of regulars that are so welcoming to newbies. If you do plan on joining one of the Saturday games, just make sure you call or email ahead of time so they can accommodate! (The D&D stuff is in a side room on the right side after entering. The door is not storge. It's part of the store! I feel like it easily gets missed and people think they only have Magic stuff.)

If you are looking for your friendly local game store for your Magic needs, this is it. Fair prices on trade in (60% store credit on healthy market prices), cards are incredibly fairly valued based on current market prices, tons of availability, and sealed product too. Not to mention they are incredibly friendly and want to work with you as well.

If you live in the area and play, seriously consider Gamer's Haunt to be where you go for your singles and when you need to satisfy that urge to rip open a pack.

Great shop! They have an awesome selection of singles, boosters, and complete decks. The owner and staff are super friendly and helpful. They run several weekly events with great turnout. Great for beginners and experts alike.

This is the best shop for Magic the Gathering I have ever been to. Excellent staff with great, helpful service. Gamers Haunt has an enormous, well organized inventory with nearly any card you could ever want. Literally walls of long boxes of Magic cards, all alphabetized and inventoried to make getting your cards pulled for you quick and painless. Very impressive.

Gamers Haunt is also a great place to play, with events practically daily, friendly and welcoming community, and comfortable play space. I love that they are respectful and interested in creating a safe and diverse community, and they clearly treat the current public health crisis seriously and with care.

Great place! Great selection of Magic, very inviting and Charlie was helpful pulling cards for us on a busy prerelease weekend.

Lovely store. The manager, Charla, does a terrific job at it all. Plus, they're really fun to experience new releases with!!!

Come here atleast once a week. They are always nice and helpful. Best selection of cards by far to meet your MTG needs. It's rare they don't have what you're looking for no matter how niche. Charla and the gang are the best.
