Frentz & Son's Hardware

Overwhelmed, I walked into the store carrying a piece of equipment from my hair salon. I carried it in to make sure that I got the correct item for the fix that I was gonna attempt to do myself. To my surprise the guy that helped me find what I needed (I forgot to get his name) fixed the problem with my equipment and I left a happy camper!!! He really went above and beyond for me and surely they will have a lifelong customer!!! Highly Recommended!

A few generations of our family have been going to Frentz & Son's Hardware since the 1940's. The same family's owned & cared for it since 1931.

Not once have I head anyone say they did not get exceptional service at Frentz. All one has to do is start walking toward the counter in the center of the store and you will either be greeted on the way to the counter or at the counter.

Even on crazy-busy days, people are willing to help. (They multi-task well!) Each person is very knowledgeable about all items and will be happy to suggest a better product or method. It's real advice, too- not some made up stuff like at many hardware stores.

Pricing here is comparable to , or lower than, other local hardware stores. Actually, their prices are often lower than the big box nightmare stores.

Frentz is an ideal place to shop for fasteners. The selection is great and, for most items, you don't have to buy a giant box to get what you need. They sell by-the-piece. Only American Integrated has more fasteners than Frentz, but that's all the sell.

Want something odd? Chances are Frentz has it, or will get it. If you don't see it, ask. While shopping there once, I casually mentioned that I had to stop at Bearing Service for an unusual sized V-Belt. The Frentz guy asked what size, and 2 minutes later, I had a V-Belt. Another time, I needed a spud wrench for a steam trap. Frentz had it. (Bet they sell one per decade, but they had it.)

Their electrical department selection is quite good. The choice of various switch and receptacle plates is a giant wall of treasures. The plumbing aisle is super stocked with a large variety.

Frents & Son's has you covered, no matter what you need.
PS: It's a fun place to explore. Next time you're there, look at the floor in the fastener aisle. There are a zillion washers stuck in the floor from the decades. Designer Chic!

This adorable neighborhood hardware is a great place to visit in the middle of a project! Awesome, helpful, friendly staff!! I love the old creaky floors, and I can get in and out in minutes!! It's so handy when you are in the middle of a household or art project!!

Great neighborhood hardware store. Everyone who works here is 10x more knowledgeable than anyone who works at a big box store.

Great store. Always someone to help. Don't go to Home Depot or Lowes , support your local businesses. They have everything you might need.

Great atmosphere. Everyone here is helpful without being suffocating or patronizing. They’re happy to answer the simplest of questions that I have. Even their checkout register folks are nice! I make a point to shop here when I need home repair stuff.

Best hardware store I've ever been to.. I've been a customer sense I can remember. Always greeted at service area in the middle of the store by a knowledgeable and polite helpful person. Their plumbing selection is so much better than the big stores. They always have what I Go there looking for even if it's the most of the wall weird stuff.

The Best Hardware Store in the Area. Friendly DIY experts on hand to give you advice. They aren't a Warehouse like Home Depot so you won't spend an hour looking for what you need. I go there for everything as a 1st time home owner. Their hands on approach to customer service is what keeps me going back.

I was having hard time finding product and came across Frentz & son (I’m located in Rhode Island), I sent email asking if he carried it, I got answer very next morning by Mike Frentz and he was more then happy to send it to me , I got to talk to him on phone and he was so friendly and helpful. I think he is awesome for taken time and helping me , knowing I was in different state he really didn’t have too but he did. Thank you so much Mike Frentz!

What can I say this is the best hardware store anywhere. When was the last time you walked in a store and get asked by 3 different employees if you need help. Also a great place for fasteners. If you have questions on anything that needs repairing this is the place for you. This is where the big box stores fall flat on their face.

Very nice and helpful staff. Someone fell through the ceiling while mumbling in latin, but he handed me a bag full of everything I came in for and promptly climbed back into the hole. Checkout was fast and easy!

Frentz brings small town customer service/feel and joins it with a diverse selection of common and specialty tools. I am not saying anything that local Royal Oak Residents have not know for years and it is reflected by the other glowing reviews. I needed a 50 cent part to repair my utility trailer and one of the owners ended up seeing me in the parking lot struggling to fix it and spent about 25 minutes helping me work on the trailer. This place has what no big box store can offer and I am thankful to the ownership for their helpful knowledge and helping hands. Best hardware in the state of Michigan!

Old time hardware store...with people who know how steer you in the right direction.

I've been a customer for 30 years and I have been very happy with them for all of it. This is a traditional store with the exceedingly experienced and helpful owners providing excellent service, backed up by willing youngsters for routine repair help. The older guys are really great at the strange and difficult "what's it" type of question. I've never stumped them yet. Prices may be a little higher than the huge home improvement stores, but it is absolutely worth it for the good advice, which has saved me a lot of time, frustration and money. That kind of confidence is worth a small fortune.

The greatest hardware store I have ever set foot in. Frentz & Son's is a timeless classic, from their helpful staff, wide ranging inventory for any household or hardware needs, as well as their competitive prices.

the owners and staff are so helpful. this is a full service hardware. If they don't have what you need, it might not exist. Great service.
