Recently started going back to the gym and needed a good pair of working out shoes. This store has actual shoes salesmen that look at your feet and determine the best size and fit. Took maybe 10 minutes and a couple different options and I left as a very happy customer. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere of the store is relaxing. Would strongly recommend and will be back when I need my next pair.

I wear size 15 so it is incredibly difficult for me to find a store that actually has my size in stock in basically any shoe. They had multiple shoes in my size so that I was actually able to try on and compare shoes for what feels like the first time in my life. If you have big feet and struggle to find shoes like I do, I HIGHLY recommend this place. Literally life changing.

Took my daughter in to buy her first pair of running spikes for HS Track. Like all other reviews, we received great service and expertise on the shoes. My concern going in was price since usually you have to pay a bit more for the trade off... but to my surprise the shoes where cheaper(15% discount for students) then the big box store we visited and didn't buy. Support local and go here first.

I've started to get into fitness again, and challenged myself to run a 5k event. I attempted to practice running, which I haven't done in a long time, around my neighborhood but would get crippling shin splints after only a few minutes. I stopped in here a few days before my 5k and bought a new pair of shoes. The man helping me observed how my feet land when walking/running and suggested shoes according to where I needed the most support. He was very informative about the three pairs I tried and pointed out the differences in each shoe and the benefits of the design. I ended up purchasing the first pair he had me try on, which were the Women's New Balance 860s. I ran my 5k a few days later and was able to maintain a jog the entire time! I did experience shin splints, but not nearly at the level I had before, as this time I was able to push through the discomfort where it would usually be pain. My feet felt like they were hitting the ground correctly and the shoes absorbed so much of the impact they seemed to propel me forward. I didn't expect a new pair of shoes to cure my shin splints, I know that will happen over time, but I was utterly impressed with the difference it made instantly. I am very grateful we have a running store here in Olympia with such knowledgeable and helpful staff!

The staff was incredibly patient and took the time to understand our individual needs. My brother is starting his first middle school track season after spring break. He has flat feet and has suffered from ankle sprains in the past, and the staff's understanding of his condition was truly remarkable. They took into consideration his foot shape, his history of injuries, and his budget to find him the perfect pair of shoes - the New Balance 860v13. The shoes provided him with the right amount of support and cushioning, and he felt comfortable and secure while running.

As for me, I needed shoes that would fit my specific feet type and provide the right amount of support for running, as well as versatility for daily use and lifting, and the staff at South Sound Running was equally attentive to my needs. They recommended the Brooks Ghost 14, which was the perfect fit for me. We had the opportunity to try on multiple pairs of shoes and run around to find the right fit and support for our feet.

South Sound Running is THE place to go to get running shoes. If you didn't know, you should always get fitted for running shoes to get the proper support and structure you need when running with any regularity. Without it, injury is inevitable. South Sound Running has been providing expert fitting service for free for decades. They also guarantee their fitting for 30 days with exchange and the shoes can be in any condition. Be prepared to save up a little before your visit, though - good running shoes usually cost between $90-$150. At least they last for ~400 miles, as long as you don't walk around in them casually. South Sound Running also sells premium running gear for all weather, but expect to pay full price. I highly recommend getting your running shoes here!

This place is incredible. With my child, who is participating in track for the first time this year and needed shoes, I entered the building. The individual who assisted us was incredibly friendly and helpful. He examined my child's feet, observed him run, had him try on a variety of shoes, and assisted my child in choosing the pair that seemed the most comfortable. I was pleased with our purchase and appreciative of the staff's professionalism.

Super helpful staff, 10/10 on customer service. Hopefully the shoes work well for me, but if they don't there's a good return policy.

This place is amazing. I walked in with my kiddo who is running track for the first time this year and needed shoes. The man who helped us was so kind and truly helpful. He looked at my kiddo's feet, watched him run, had him try on many different shoes and helped my kiddo narrow down what felt best. I felt great about our purchase and grateful for the professionalism of the staff.

The staff are runners and have personal experience with the products in the store. They make quality, educated recommendations. If buying shoes, the staff can fit you to the best pair for your particular gait and needs. Service is always friendly and first-class.

I had an issue with a pair a ghost 13 I bought a while back, but had not worn them yet. I noticed after wearing them a few days there was something rubbing on my inner heel. Mark and Nick went above and beyond to make it right. Thank you so much! I am a customer for life.
