Market Basket

We have two Market Baskets here in the Portsmouth area. This one is by far my favorite; I will not go to the other one. This one off of Lafayette Rd. is always clean and tidy and checking out is usually fast. I would say that many of the cashiers are not friendly but you find this everywhere these days. The big corporations pay people poorly and expect long work hours. And many customers are not friendly either. I experience more rudeness from other customers than the staff anywhere these days. But this Market Basket is always well stocked and there rarely is a long line during the mid-day when I shop. I can always find everything I need there excepting Pomegranate seeds and hot spicy versions of salsa. I have noted that New England supermarkets tend to stray away from stocking spicy foods. Other than those few things this is one of my favorite places to shop for groceries in the Portsmouth area.

The best store, wonderful check out,never a wait.Always find what your looking for, there's always an employee there if you can't find something.

This location is particularly clean and friendly. Had everything I was looking for and when I couldn't find a styrofoam cooler, not only did an employee walk me over, he let me know the price and got me a lid.

Store was hopping with pre Thanksgiving shoppers, but we'll stocked and quick check out. Looked all over for a covered roasting pan, MB had it. Thanks!

I don't shop this particular MB for my normal shopping as I don't live exactly close by. But it's a typical MB and I love MB in general. I stop here for drinks, snacks, or subs when I'm in the area out and about! This is a reminder for those who read. MB makes the best 5.00 subs you will ever get anywhere else "." ! 😀.

Who can afford to go anywhere else? Plus they do a great job.

Love this place, it has everything they carry items and produce other chains don't. It's the little things that count to me for example they have fresh mint, fresh parsley, fresh cilantro, even Lebanese bread, etc... Just convenient stuff you don't find at other big chain like Stop and Shop or Walmart. Great job Market Basket!

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The is always neat and clean. The prices are below average . I travel 30 minutes to shop hear.

My fiance and I walked into the market for the first time ever. On 07-22-21 @ 5pm. We were so impressed with the selection and prices. And all the staff was pleasant and helpful. Excellent first impression! Cashier #169 and the bagger. Was able to put a smile on my face, just by being respectful and polite. Thanks, to everyone that helped us. It was so nice to actually go into a place with genuine people, even real live persons at the registers! We felt appreciated as a customer.

Very good food selection, you won't find extra things, it is a grocery store.

Market Basket Supermarket is a great store thats privately owned by a man who fought his family to keep this store affordable and not be sold to the corporate complex by family greed. He bought his family out to keep the employees and customers. Shaws Supermarket couldn't compete and was closed. Both stores in Portsmouth have great people and great service

Market Basket is great. Low prices and very personable employees... Definitely aim to please the customer. I like that they sell "meat ends" at a discount at the deli, it's a crapshoot but sometimes it's mistakes that are already cut. They also have a discounted fruits and vegetables rack, as well as discounted day old baked goods.

Love market Basket. Prices are great.

Great prices on groceries. They are short staffed (who isn't) so be patient is your have to wait in line. It's a little better now in the summer since the school kids can work more.

Great prices and deals available. The cheapest place in town. Always find what u need n want. They make the best and cheapest subs around Portsmouth, Somersworth and Rochester areas. Great deals on meats.

Oh how I love Market Basket!! No matter how busy they are they actually have Real Cashiers ......Wow and they are fast real fast makes your head explode they are so fast .....thank God they still employ Real Live Human Beings.,.....For realzzzzzz real live Human Being and the Quality is top notch but in the peas section .....what the hell come on English peas and Black eyed peas ....come on Dawgs how about some gold down south field peas !!!!!! Other than that Awesome Grocery Store with pretty ladies and nothing wrong with a lady being a lady

Great prices. Good people. Good product. Clean. Thank you for being open early and late and working hard to fill my needs. Greatly appreciate the organic produce, dairy, and natural and organic meet selections as well as a good seafood section. If you don't have it, I don't need it.
