CAP Local Imports

Updated: I've been several more times and have found pricing to be much more reasonable. I've found some great finds there too. Always well organized and friendly service.

Very well organized and a mission I would love to support but I won't buy used things for the same as I can buy new. A cupcake container visibly worn for $14.99 with original sticker of you guessed it - $14.99. Tupperware deviled egg tray missing a piece and visibly worn and nearing 40 years old for $14.99 as well. Stuffed animals for $30. I wouldn't pay those prices for new stuffed animals.

It seems lots of reviews say the pricing is a relatively new issue. I hope they get that issue figured out because I'd love to support this organization!

The staff is very nice, great prices, wonderful selection of all sizes xs to xxxl very clean and well organized! A patient of mine told me about it and I'm so grateful!

You can find some neat stuff here, unlike Goodwill that lists anything decent in online auctions only.

Omg best thrift prices 8ve ever seen! I got boots for $1.. $one dollar!!! Tons of other $1 items as well. Check website as they are only open every other day but the place is HUGE they have EVERYTHING. The only sign outside says pier 1 imports.. but you're in the right spot I'm going back there, like A LOT

After reading some of the reviews, I had to check it out for myself. I was really happy with my purchases. I shop at goodwill for unique pieces but sometimes find their prices a little high for donated items. After shopping at local imports and knowing how much of my purchases actually go to people in need, I’m sold.

Such a great thrift store. Much better pricing than what *oodwill has turned into and always has a great variety and super friendly staff. :)

Very nice store! Everything is incredibly well organized, items are in excellent condition and the prices are very good. Also very helpful, friendly and engaging staff. I was really impressed with this store and will most definitely make it a regular shop.

What a fun place to shop! They always have a lot of interesting items! I found some nice crystal serving items there.

Love this! I used to donate my clothes to goodwill but after learning that only 1/8 of their profit actually goes to charity, I was horrified. Then a friend told me about Local Imports and 100% of their profits go to our local CAP Agency and I decided that it’s where I will be donating from now on. I also like to browse clothing (goodwill has gotten ridiculously expensive and they take specific brands (example: Lululemon) and are only selling them online. I’ve found Athleta, Michael Kors and Lululemon at Local Imports. They also have amazing pop up sales. Can‘t recommend enough for donating and shopping.

I work at the CAP agency LOCAL IMPORTS thrift store.. we have the best customers and the best most caring employees and volunteers that I have ever worked with in my 59 years on this planet.It is a wonderful environment and the donations are always appreciated! The prices are unbelievably!! For lack of a better word Low.. Right now newborn to size 5T children's clothes are $1 a piece the ones that are like new condition! It's worth the trip in.. It really is!! We're next door to Michael's and Once Upon a Child. Over by Walmart in Shakopee we're open Monday through Saturday 9:00 to 7:00 and donations are accepted in the back of the building from 10:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday. (we are also closed on national holidays)..the proceeds go to fund other CAP agency organizations example Scott, Carver and Dakota county Food shelves..This is a big one!! You want to help out in YOUR community bring YOUR donations to the CAP agency LOCAL IMPORTS thrift store.. I've been shopping here for a few years now and I have found some Amazing deals. Although Their prices have gone up, they still have awesome clearance deals. Wide selection of clothes for all ages and sizes. Furniture, paintings and wall pictures, knick knacks and everything in-between.

LOVE this shop! Beautiful and clean. The staff are all volunteers and they do a wonderful labor of love doing displays and keep it all so organized. Very worthy charity organization.

I was intrigued about the new store in the old Pier One spot so I stopped by when I was at Michaels last week. Apparently, I've been oblivious because it's been open since December and I only noticed it this week.

When I got up to the door and realized it's the new CAP thrift store, I almost didn't go in. The old store was... depressing. This one doesn't look like a thrift shop when you enter. So far it is well designed, organized, merchandised appealingly, and priced reasonably. I had no intention of buying anything, just look around. That didn't work out so well. 😉 I left with a plant shelf I didn't know I absolutely needed and some tatting hooks from their surprising robust craft selection.

Ashley (the store manager) is a perfect fit. Passionate about the mission, competent, genuinely friendly, and excited to be there.

A surprise was the table front and center of the store holding auction items. Unusual or more valuable merchandise. Brilliant.

Unlike many thrift stores, the proceeds from this one are used to directly fund LOCAL programs. If you are unfamiliar with the Carver-Scott-Dakota County CAP agency, they run many programs in the community. Weatherization grants, Food Shelves, Crisis Nursery, Energy Assistance, Housing programs, etc. The number of lives they positively impact every day is staggering.

They take, rely on, donations - merchandise, money, and volunteers.

I know as I am going through my mother's estate (otherwise known as oh-my-god-what-am-I- going-to-do-with-all-this-stuff), I am separating out CAP donations from the rest. Why? They have limited space for storage, rely on volunteers, and don't have the distribution resources that larger operations have. I want my donations to help not hinder.

I asked Ashley what her wishlist was for the store. She replied: Volunteers, home decor, and returning customers. Home decor is their best seller.

Food donations are now only accepted at the old Minnesota Corn building on 1st Street in Shakopee.

FYI- They don't start accepting clothing until Monday, May 2nd

Very organized and clean. Quality items, reasonably priced. I go 1-2 times per week. I also like their calendar of special sales. Everyone there has been nice and helpful.

I absolutely love this store! I found so much goodies there, therefore I support it regularly. Can't wait till they will open again, hopefully it's very soon! I see a bright future for this store, because it has good selection and very friendly staff.

I didn't know this place existed. What a great surprise! I found some great items and I feel the prices are very fair!

The prices are phenomenal the employees are very helpful and friendly they take donations from 10:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday and they're open 9:00 to 7:00 Monday through Friday.. this is the cleanest and most organized thrift store I have ever been in I really enjoy it lots of new clothes lots of gently used clothes jewelry scarves tools electronics dishes all the prices that you wouldn't believe until you come in there and take a look
