Todd Snyder at the Liquor Store

If you feel overwhelmed by the unwieldy men’s sections in big department stores (or even big chain stores), Todd Snyder might be the solution. The Midwest-born designer honed his menswear skills at J.Crew - you’ve got him to thank for the Ludlow suit - and brought his midwestern sensibility to his own label in 2011.

As GQ put it recently, Todd Snyder the brand has a “J.Crew-grows-up vibe” that is great for guys who are ready to upgrade the contents of their closet.

The newly opened downtown store in Tribeca is a homecoming of sorts. Snyder was the man behind the Liquor Store, the OG #menswear destination, when it was fronted by J.Crew. It closed last spring and Snyder snatched it up.

While you can find a larger selection of product and more of TS’s collaborations with other brands at the flagship store in Madison Square, the new Liquor Store is a smaller, more highly-curated experience.

Insider tip: book an appointment through their website with a personal stylist ahead of time. It’s totally free, and they can pull items in your size they think you’ll like so you can cut right to the chase when you arrive.

The staff here is great! David went above and beyond to help me find an outfit for an event with an unusual dress code. I really felt like a valued customer.

When I lived in Tribeca, this location was a neighborhood bar called The Liquor Store, which let you drink there until way beyond 2am. Times have changed and it looks like a nice shop has opened in its place. I'm glad they kept the old sign out front. A great character for the neighborhood. Super cool place. The ladies working there were all very attentive and friendly, but not pushy. The selection is pretty awesome, and I saw several things in the window that meant I had to go inside. I've eyeballed their stuff online before, but seeing it in person was a must-have.

My neighborhood spot for all the best new finds. The staff is exceptional and ever so helpful. Also, the cutest of Todd’s locations.

Cute small store but not alot of options

Sad place, highly unfriendly… people sitting around on their phones… no one to greet you… no one to even acknowledge your presence. The general vibe is to make you feel unwelcome. Major attitude problems. When we left they finally noticed us walking away and glared at us like we were the problem. Everyone needs to go asap. Stay away from this location.

Horrid inventory management and distribution. Utter disgrace of a retail company.
