Specialist in imported food and wine. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I went because they have radox bath salts and fa shower gel on web site. Alas both out of stock so I drowned my sorrow with six bottles of radox and badedas bubble bath.
Recommended. For people who suffer from nostalgia, or didn't live overseas but are curious.
Are smarties better than m&m? German sauerkraut better than what's from your supermarket ? Marmalade ? You bet. I even eyed fairy liquid longer than I should.

This place is great. My husband and I come here somewhat regularly and Ed has always been so helpful and so easy to get along with and remembers us. They keep their stock tidy and easy to find and always have things coming in, staff are always working hard. I was looking for something specifically I usually get when coming in, but was out of stock today and Ed told me to call back in a month or so to see if they get the shipment in. I appreciate his dedication helping me find the item though! Thank you, I’ll always be a loyal customer! :)

Love this place! They have a lot of interesting and delicious foods from all over the globe. I especially like the British potato chip selection, can you believe that they have bacon flavored chips? Amazing! The employee Princess was very nice and pleasant. Will definitely come back!

So many delicious South African treats from here!! I was thrilled to find out The African Hut sells Beacon’s Easter eggs as I haven’t had these since I was a kid! I ordered them just in time for Easter, and they arrived quickly. Unfortunately despite the padded packaging, some were damaged. Their customer service was wonderful and they called me and shipped new ones right away, set to be delivered the very next day! …Unfortunately UPS failed again, and they lost the package or left at the wrong address, through no fault of the store of course. I still got my Aero chocolate and droewors though, so not a total loss! I will definitely be ordering more from here, and sending to family as well!

Update.....owners very quick in response. They emailed and called me right away and made it right. Great customer service. I'll be shopping here again.

Was excited waiting for my order. Ordered and paid for the 1.1kg chutney. They sent me a 470 gram jar. Very disappointed, I wonder if they will read this and correct my order or refund me.

I can’t say enough good things about this store. We’ve been coming here for a few years and we feel so fortunate that it’s right here in Orange County. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the prices are very reasonable, and the the quality of their items is great. Where else in SoCal can you get real Cadbury chocolate, hula hoops, Pomsticks, and biltong in one place? No where except for here! Keep up the good work.

I’m so happy to have a place where I can buy all of the products from SA that I miss so much. South Africa plays second to none when it comes to foods, and spices, and sauces, etc.

Unfortunately, for me, I am in Arizona, so I’m still about a 6 hour drive from this shop, but the online purchasing experience and shipping has been amazing. My purchases come in a timely manner and it is always impeccably wrapped, packaged and protected. They take great care in your items when they ship them out.

I'm a South African expat living in the US and I am grateful for having a store here in the US where I can buy the things I miss form home.
Yes, it does take a while to get orders shipped so be prepared for a bit of a wait, and yes some of the items are not as cheap as what they are in South Africa.
But one needs to understand that these are imported goods now and and all good things comes to those who wait.
I ordered a variety of goods from them including some very fragile Easter eggs and everything arrived here in good order, no complaints!

I ordered on a Friday night, with the July 04th weekend impending. So I expected some delays, naturally. However, I received the products in good time (a week later) and more importantly excellent condition. Whoever packed my goods, took such great care (as if they loved their business, and cared for good customer service). Everything was orderly and beautifully packaged. I was on skype call with family in SA while opening the package, haha. so we all had a good time seeing everything and feeling a little nostalgic (at least for me). I did take a chance on a few close to expiry date items like samp and maize meal (bought several bags at 70% off). I received them and they were in outstanding condition. I attributed this to African Huts good temperature environment/conditions for storage. I will be buying from them again. And from now on, I won't bother with trying to haul suitcases loaded with this stuff from SA to USA. Thanks for the convenience African Hut :)

I purchase all South African foods from these guys and they are great. Pricing is very affordable and fair. They are always friendly and never ever made a mistake with my orders. Have shopped here by mail for years and never a problem. Before they posted on their website on expiry dates, they would call to see if you wanted an item if it was about to expire! Great customer service, great selection and in recent times, the website has improved hugely. No issues, you can feel confident ordering from the British Food Shop.
