Laguna Hills DMV

I was very impressed with the efficiency and attitude of the DMV personnel. I did not have an appointment but did arrive about 7:20 AM (4th in line). They let everyone in at 7:45 AM and you lined up and got a call number. At exactly 8:00 AM, they started calling numbers. The lady that helped me was terrific, by 8:05 AM I had paid my fees and took the eye test. I immediately went to the Photo window, got my picture taken and took the renewal test (I am turning 70). Note here: There is no special test for Seniors - renewal test is the same for everyone. Finished the test, got signed off and walked out at 8:25 AM. Here are the best tips - (if no appointment), show up about 7:30, have the right paperwork, do as much as you can online (register), be patient, study for the test (if renewing) and you can be in and out in 30 - 45 minutes tops. I tip my hat to the DMV staff - they really do a good job.

Great Experience today, without appointment checked in at 1 pm(on a Monday) into the line through the dmv website with wait time of 59 minutes, reached 5 minutes before the time, gave the required documents for Address update and it is done in 15 minutes, left the DMV by 2:15 pm. Good Service.

We had an AM appointment to take the written test for a permit. The appointment line in the morning was very short to check that you have all the right docs. After, the window we were called to was a very nice and efficient gentleman. Next, is the picture and then written test. The whole process was about an hour. A lot of adults were failing the written test. You can pick up a booklet by the front door to study.

The most confusing part is the websites description on what documentation to bring for proof of residency because it's different when using a birth certificate (parents residency docs work) vs passport (kids residency docs needed).

Highly recommend an appointment. They open up about 90 days in advance.

Been to a lot of DMVs and the experience is never fun...that said, this has been one of the better ones so far. Yes, it's crowded and there is a wait...but show me a DMV where that isn't the case.

Where this one shines, imo, is that the staff seem more intent on providing the best service they can under these conditions. They call numbers quicker than most other DMV offices I've seen. The customer service was polite and yet concise so once I'm at the counter, I get what needs done and I'm out. No having attendants to look for a supervisor to check this or that and that saves so much time.

I'd recommend getting an appt though and arriving a bit early because it seems to make a huge difference. Lots of people with appts were able to jump ahead because of that (as expected - but I didn't expect there to be so many). I may have to do that myself next time...

This DMV is well organized. I went to renew my DL with an appointment. It took me only 50 minutes.

Went on Wednesday around 11:20am and there was zero lines or waittime! I was shocked because typically the dmv is always packed. I’m not too picky about customer service at the dmv because I honestly understand the workers lol

I came here because my I didn't get my ID that I renewed online. But coming here wasnt so bad! And I didn't even had an appointment and yet it was pretty quick considering being a DMV. I also got a really nice lady, which I am lucky because I've seen a lot of reviews about people having bad atittudes😟 but overall it was a very decent visit! I do recommend it:3

Got there around 7am, a line was already forming (about 25 people). At about 7:40am a happy (literally) female DMV employee stepped out and yelled HAPPY FRIDAY!!! She gave everyone in line instructions. Around 7:45am they started letting people go inside after checking them in and giving them a number. Around 8am numbers started getting called. My number was called about 10 minutes later. The young man that helped me was awesome! He got me in and out in less than 15 minutes. Best DMV experience ever! BTW, I did not have an appointment.

I highly recommend this DMV office!

Dear DMV,
I have a suggestion for you. Please move the appointment line and no appointment line the other way around.

Because people are always waiting on the appointment side. People without appointments can sit on the benches and they can use building shadows from the sun.

People with appointments are waiting less than 5 min but other people waiting more than 1 hr.

Also if you do it, all signs will be visible. Because people are blocking the signs now.

Surprisingly pleasant experience. Enough so that felt compelled to write this review. Came in on a Thursday morning to fix an issue with an address change and license renewal. No appointment but almost no wait. Staff was helpful and efficient. Thank you.

We all know DMV trips aren’t anyone’s cup of tea, however, the gentleman that assisted me today was great (window 21 at 11:30). He was efficient, friendly, and quick! The bonus was he was smiling and happy and I observed this behavior with other customers too while I waited in the photo line.

Additionally, the online process for uploading documents and having an appointment made things much quicker and I highly recommend it for any license renewals. Very pleased with todays service! :)

The staff was very helpful to my mom who is severely disabled.

Going to the DMV is never a pleasant experience. Large crowds, long lines, inpatient people, the list goes on. So why did I give the Laguna Hills DMV 5 stars?

The high rating was primarily for Yvonne, the agent that attended to my car registration needs. She was exceptionally attentive, very caring, polite and genuinely showed a desire to get through the process as efficiently as possible.

I had a simultaneous double registration transfer from a company to my wife then to me.

It was the most convoluted and complicated effort I've ever encountered at the DMV. Yvonne was a trooper. When she came across an obstacle, she asked her colleague for help or sought guidance from her supervisor, all the while keeping me informed as to what was going on or what paperwork needed to be completed.

She made a nauseating experience downright pleasurable. Kudos to Yvonne!

As for the Laguna Hills DMV in general; it was SUPER busy (as expected) but surprisingly efficient! I used the online check in process. Waited in my car until my number was close to being called.

Got text notifications as my place in the queue got closer. I highly recommend using that system. Once inside, the wait was shorter. Numbers were being called constantly. I still had to wait about 25 minutes, but it was worth it.

There were many agents which made the lines move quickly.

You can go to any DMV office to conduct business. I can't speak to the efficiency of other locations. However, the Laguna Hills DMV seems to have it's act together.

Well as far as a DMV goes. I have to say I am impressed!! Yes that’s it. Not only very organized. The staff is helpful and friendly. Also they started to help everyone at 6:45 AM before opening the doors at 7 AM. Made my day!!! I was out by 7:15

Every employee that I interacted with was very friendly, helpful, efficient, and fast.

Excellent experience today. I dont know why this place has low ratings but we were provided an amazing customer service today. Came in to get my dad's ID renewed. Both the ladies, first at counter #7 and then the lady at counter #3 went above and beyond to resolve a hold issue. They both sought additional assistance to help remediate the issue. Exceeded our expectations and experience. Thank you and keep it up.

Did two registrations on the same day, the experience was that good. Starting from the reception up front where they direct you to waiting time, it all worked like clockwork. All in all took me 40 mins start to finish which included getting the VIN verification, new plates, registration and title.

Granted I was here for about 4 hours on a Friday, I was impressed with how quick, helpful, and patient the workers were. No one wants to be at the DMV so you have to hand it to them for dealing with everyone!
