Frugal Framer

Local framing shop located between downtown Asheville and the historic Montford neighborhood. They’ve always done excellent work for me and service is always great.

Found this gem online because of the excellent reviews and was not disappointed. The staff was super nice and they stretched my canvas painting perfectly with custom built wood. I had this rolled up for about 8 years and was nervous it would ever be the quality I was seeking after traveling for so long. It looks amazing, was completed in the time frame they set and the price was reasonable. Ellen gave me a few different options in various price points to meet my needs. Might get it framed later as that part was super expensive. Thanks so much! Definitely recommend this place for framing needs!

Wonderful staff! Broke some glass while moving into Marquee Art Gallery, and they had it replaced and reframed in a day!

We have had several pictures framed over the last 25 years or so at Frugal Framer. They have always done excellent work for us. Also, and especially, it is nice to be able to be helped by someone who seems truly interested in getting the job right, and knows what they are talking about. I highly recommend Frugal Framer.

This place is great. I always went to Michael’s or one of the other big box stores thinking Frugal Framer would be more expensive. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Their prices and quality are much better than anywhere else in town. Customer service is awesome too. I went in with a frame and print and they measured and cut some matting for me for just a few bucks. Michael’s wanted $30+ for a cut piece of matting. You can tell the people working their enjoy their job too. I won’t go anywhere else town for my framing needs.

Staff suggestions kept us from making big mistake on framing our canvas print. They know what works best.

I have been using Frugal Farmer for the last 10 years and have been very satisfied with their work. The owner and staff are always very helpful. The chop shop is such a great resource for the artists in the community. Prices are very reasonable and everything I have had framed there has been exactly as I wanted it. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

Sarah helped me beyond belief on a complicated, framing process that was being done for a show. She had several helpful money saving ideas I had never thought of and spent a lot of time with me understanding my needs and what I was trying to accomplish. I was pleasantly pleased with the pricing as well. Highly professional, helpful staff that are noticeably service oriented in every way. Give them a try. I was thrilled.

I have been back two additional times since above review and my expectations are consistently exceeded. Amazing. This time Casey helped me with a blunder I made leaving a framed charcoal art piece in a hot steaming car - which rippled up. She educated me on some of the challenges of paper, and they are going to rescue/save my original art piece for me. I can't say enough good about this place, and their experienced, educated, and very professional staff. Thanks for everything!

I have used Frugal Framer to frame some unique pieces. They are very friendly, helpful and always able to achieve my vision. They are reasonably priced but their quality is very high end. You can see the details and craftsmanship on each piece and their attention to detail is top notch. Grateful to have this locally owned framer in town.

I do not consider myself to have any sort of artistic or design aesthetic but I know the art I like. Frugal is always able to help me achieve my vision for framing art even when I have no idea myself. I love my pieces. Staff are friendly, efficient and patient!

I wanted to go out of my way to write an outstanding review for Frugal Framers! The owner Jennifer has worked closely with me on framing a huge piece of vintage art that I purchased for my clients at High Point furniture market. Because I do not live in Asheville, I had to do quite a bit of research and called around to all of the framers in town, determining who would best fit the capabilities of framing such a unique and expensive piece. After speaking to six different framing companies, I decided to go with Frugal Framer‘s as they seemed to have the most knowledge, care, and professionalism. The owner Jennifer has done a great job of communicating with me and I am so excited to get the art installed next month! We’ve had some hold ups because of construction not being complete on the house and Jennifer was kind enough to hold the art for us while we waited for completion. When the art is hung I will add a picture! I highly recommend using Frugal Framers! Very professional, extremely kind, and just wonderful people!

I had an outstanding experience with Frugal Framer. My project was extremely custom and they walked with me every step of the way: offering suggestions, working with the material (cutting it to size) and recommending size based on my layout needs.
The staff was patience and really took the time and effort to care about my project. (Thank you, Terry!) They are competitively priced (in fact, the best prices I could find in the area). I will certainly use Frugal Framer again. They have my strongest recommendation.

Wow! I can not say enough about the customer service here. Yes, the end product is always spot on (I’ve purchased 5 or so frames so far) but the employees who work here are always delightful, knowledgeable and efficient to work with! I will definitely continue to use Frugal Framers for future projects.

Great place! Jerome spent a lot of time going through all of the options I had for frames, mat colors, borders, etc. and offered suggestions of what would work best. And all of the staff I met were equally generous and friendly. The price was less than I had anticipated and best of all, they did exactly what they said they were going to do, exactly when they said they were going to do it, that’s huge. Go here, you won’t be disappointed.

After being recommended by a friend, I visited Frugal Framer to have two prints framed. I had intended to frame the pieces myself as my friend told me their was a back room where a person was permitted to do the framing themselves. When I asked about the self-service room, I was advised that if I had never framed a picture before, it might be best if I accepted help from the framers in the store. Luckily I accepted this sage advice from the very talented Casey, who immediately asked me what I had in mind. I had a vague concept of what I wanted and Casey slowly started to construct my vision. Casey was very patient with me as I constantly asked questions regarding why certain colors of matting worked while others did not. Since this print was to be the centerpiece in my home, I spared no expense. I was told up from that the frame I had selected was rather pricey, but it went perfect with the matting that Casey had selected. The second and smaller print was much easier to frame and once again Casey choose the perfect frame to accent the print and matting. Both frames were completed within a weeks time and I am so happy and proud of the results. I am so glad that Casey talked me out of trying to frame the prints myself and I highly recommend Frugal Framer!!

Frugal Framers provides incredible service and value to the customer. I frankly could not believe what an extremely positive experience I had there. I was amazed at the quality of their frames, the care they took in working with me to create just the perfect outcome for my complex and varied projects as well as the excellent customer care they gave to me---all for such value for my money. I truly cannot say enough about this establishment--oh if there were more like it! My experience there was one of patience, competence and care for my needs as a customer---it is rare to find any retail store that is so committed to providing such high quality service.
