The Puddle Dock Restaurant

Having seen this restaurant on social media, I decided to make the trip from the Jersey Shore to see what all the hype was about. It lives up to its reputation! Michaela was a spectacular server (will update spelling if needed). We had chowder, salad. cheeseboard, mussels, beef, and swordfish. Everything was perfectly prepared. We also had the blackberry fizz cocktail: quite tasty! Overall very impressed. Yes, it is expensive, but the high quality and ambiance was definitely worth it. We stayed at the Water St Inn in Kittery, ME and walked 12min to the restaurant from here.

Food was phenomenal and service was impeccable. Staff were kind, fun and answered any question fully. Drinks were amazing as well. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and had no issues and also loved every dish she got. The chowder was some of the best I’ve had. The hoecake was unique and delicious, and the same can be said for the skate fish, which I hadn’t heard of or seen anywhere before. Will be going back and recommending this place to anyone looking for a truly great Portsmouth dining experience!

The Puddle Dock was pretty much exactly as I expected, considering how much I had looked into it ahead of time. The entire reason for going was for the rarebit my boss had informed me of during a discussion about foods I had grown up with.
The food was all incredible and was interesting to see the inside of the building since I had grown up going to Strawberry Bank as a child and getting pickles from a pickle barrel when it was a store. The post and beam structure still looks incredible and the layout of the bar is extremely well done. The atmosphere that is given was extremely laid back. The one thing that took away, for me, was a few of the wait staff that had come by have an arrogance when speaking to you that is a bit off putting. It is clear that it is not all of them but enough to discourage.
I had an old fashioned, the rarebit which came with bits of duck, brussel sprouts and a fried egg on top as an appetizer and the Shepard's pie as a meal. The Shepard's pie came out with a crust making it look more like pot pie but added a wonderful texture to it. The flavor was incredible though be warned of how hot that dish is and how long it will need to cool. Definitely worth the visit and experience.

We had an impromptu dinner at the bar. Our bartender was attentive without rushing us. Delicious food and drink. Interesting selection of alcohol and the food was beautifully presented. We managed to make room for dessert. The restaurant was full and we could carry a conversation with a reasonable noise level. We will definitely return.

We were on vacation in Portsmouth New Hampshire and made reservations a couple weeks in advance. The service was absolutely great. The food was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Definitely a great place for a really great experience.

Such a beautiful restaurant with a very attentive staff, lovely location right next to Strawberry Banke and the gardens. The food was divine, mussels were fresh and prepared like nothing I've experiences before. Every morsel of food we consumed was utter perfection. I'd come here week after week if we lived closer!

Modern take on colonial comfort food. Charming part of historical Portsmouth. Lovely patio & indoor dining room to nibble & sip. I love their chicken pot pie and their homemade oyster crackers are a memorable touch. They also bring to your table a basket filled with warm breads; this week zucchini bread! Never disappointed.

We eat there quite often and every meal has been cooked to perfection. The bartender's creative drinks are exceptionally good. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It is our top go to restaurant in Portsmouth!

Excellent. Hands down the best meal I have had in Portsmouth in a while. The atmosphere is awesome, our server was very personable and attentive eventhough they were very busy. There are lots of GF options and their signature cocktails were delicious! You will love their unique menu options! The food was absolutely amazing!!

Oh. My. Word. I am so glad I found this place! The service, the atmosphere, and the food were all impeccable. The pan roasted chicken breast was 5 star! It was so tender and juicy and the flavor combination was just beyond and the portion sizes were perfect. Wonderful restaurant; 10/10 will eat go again!

We came to Puddle Dock on vacation and could not have been happier. The vibe was romantic & cozy. Our server, Dylan, was attentive & knowledgeable without being invasive. The food was outstanding & so were the cocktails. We recommend the pate and the fish & chips. Best tartar sauce I’ve ever had.

Very friendly staff, food was excellent. Really enjoyed the ambience as well. Easy online reservation with available parking next to the restaurant. Will definitely go back!

Delicious dinner at Puddle Dock. Slight wait for our table but it was Saturday night and we had a glass of wine to keep us occupied so not a bother. Service was attentive and prompt and the food was delicious. I had the Harvard beet Salad and the Yorkshire Pudding. my husband had the clam chowder and duck. Will definitely be back!

Can you give six stars? In a town with numerous restaurant
choices ,The Puddledock is a standout. Ambience, service and cuisine …truly exceptional. Our party of four started with the mussels, chowder and caesar salads .All perfectly prepared. The Lobster pie had a very generous amount of meat , so yes worth the price. The scallops were also perfection. Definitely a high end restaurant but completely worth the indulgence.

The mussels were delicious as were the scallops and duck. The Bee's Knees cocktail paired nicely and finished off with the lemon pavlova which was possibly the best dessert ever! The atmosphere was very nice and quaint and the service was excellent.

I was blown away by the AMAZING staff and fantastic service the first time visiting this establishment. Everyone was so polite, accommodating, and just exceptional. Our server, Natalie, was so lovely. Great service!!! The food was great, and so many items on the menu (including salad dressing, sauces, bread) are made from scratch and greens from garden! I definitely will return!

Loved it! I stopped in knowing nothing about this restaurant and was so impressed. I sat at the bar and the bar tender couldn’t have been friendlier. The scallops I had were delicious and cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back!

Bartender Steve made incredible drinks, our server Nat was very nice and welcoming. The food was INCREDIBLE, great work a chef and crew!

Great location and every part of our meal was good. I would definitely go again.
