Love this book store so much! It’s such a sweet little spot, and the staff is always so warm and welcoming, even when my toddler is being a monster and I’m desperately grabbing books and trying to get out as quickly as possible.

Incredible family owned bookstore with friendly and helpful staff. Large kids book section. If they don’t have the book you want they are able to order it in for you! Love supporting this local gem

We stopped by this book store while visiting town. It's so cute and the people working were very friendly, helpful, and knowledge. Definitely worth checking out!

I wanted to order a book from a local book store instead of a global internet monopoly, so I called Back Cove Books to place an order. They had the book in stock and held it for me to pick up! The staff was extremely friendly and efficient both over the phone and in person. They even gift wrapped the book for me when I mentioned it was for a friend! Super awesome, super local, all-around great bookstore. Will definitely return to peruse the latest publications and enjoy some time in the cozy seating area. It's also located in a really cool building (Odd Fellows Block) that I think has been ignored for a long time. This new(ish) bookstore is exactly the energy it needs to get some more action. Definitely recommend stopping by!

Visited Back Cove Books for the first time. Beautiful renovation - the space is beautiful and very cozy. Staff greeted us as we walked in and were nice.
Checking the sections of book I enjoy - great curation! Found books that you definitely will not find in most chain bookstores.
They have a frequent buyer program which we signed up for - we will definitely be supporting Back Cove Books.

Wide variety of classics, bestsellers, and super interesting niche eclectic volumes! Very friendly and unobtrusive staff. Fantastic "Old Portland" interior environment, super clean, well organized, with natural lighting and couches that invite you to linger. There are even nice bookshelves in the beautiful old Casco Bank vault from 50+ years ago!

Location is charming, interior is quirky, they know their books. I only buy from them, and ordering through their website is a breeze. 🤗
