The Sandspur

We came to the beach for the day on a whim and stopped in here for lunch. Many of the other local options didn't look too inspiring, so we didn't have high hopes - but the Sandspur really exceeded our expectations. The fish sandwich and fries were excellent, their homemade ranch is delicious, the service is quick and friendly and the place itself is a quirky little treat. They were so welcoming and the food was delicious - I'd happily come back if we're ever in the neighborhood again!

We stopped here for a few drinks while out exploring Carolina Beach. They have a large exterior patio/garden area. Plenty of tables and chairs to hold a big crowd. The outdoor patio is pet-friendly which is a plus! The outside is self-service so you walk up the stairs inside to order your food and drinks. The staff was very nice and they have a good selection to choose from!

The Sandspur was not what my wife and I were expecting. We ended up here because it was one of the only things open at 11:30am when we were trying to get lunch, and we are SO HAPPY we tried it here. The foods was PHENOMENAL. I cannot emphasize that enough. The food was fresh, the beer was
Cold, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service impeccable. We would come here again and again and again an…. Well, you get the point. This is a great spot for some beers and a fresh meal. Would recommend 10/10.

Great environment, feels like Cheers! Everyone is friendly, definitely a locals hot spot! Food is devine and the chef gets an A+. Fresh seafood and wonderful daily specials. Had the crudo wahoo nachos and the seared wahoo bowl. Delicious flavors dancing all around, so good, right off the boat. They don't take reservations, but if you have to wait it's worth it (they have amazing cocktails and local brews too). We ate last night at the bar and it was fun! And be sure not to miss the beer garden out back, they often have bands and DJs spinning. Lots of tables, lawn chairs and an outdoor bar.

Food is amazing, tuna nachos are always incredible and the other specials never disappoint. If they have soft shell crab, get it. Got to be the coldest beer on the island and wife loves the cocktails. Service is always awesome

We are so excited The Sandspur has come to the Island! What a great spot. The menu is carefully curated with delicious and healthy options—all full of flavor. They offer locally caught seafood options that change with the season and availability. The portion sizing is just right except that those tacos were so delicious, we wished there were more! The ambiance is casual and fun (indoor and outdoor seating available), and everyone on staff seems to be excited about what they’re building at The Sandspur, which is infectious. Louis (Louie?), in particular, brought such an awesome vibe to our experience with his stellar recommendations, apt attention to service and overall happy energy. Would highly recommend!

We shared the tuna nachos and soft shell crab sandwich. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and delicious, and our server was very friendly and accommodating. Plus the vibes are great- small dining space but very clean w larger outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!!

Right next to the boardwalk at Carolina beach. Cute outdoor patio space and there's indoor seating as well. We ordered the grain bowls (they have tofu as a protein option), fries basket, and a couple of drinks from their bar. Loved the flavors and portion sizes.

The food here is well crafted. The chips and salsa will make you think you found a nice taqueria. The pepperjack burger will make your mouth water. You’ll be glad you tried the fries, because they are s-tier. But if fries aren’t your thing, the grilled green beans with roasted tomato is the perfect alternative (or addition)!

The service is super friendly! Thoughtful specials make this a place to come back to for every visit to pleasure island…
The only disappointment is no free parking.

I would really rather not tell you about this place as I’ve always been bad at sharing things I like. However, I want them to be successful so my review is as follows:

Vibe: comfy, cozy, warm. The living room in your favorite old, old wooden ship.

Orange crush very good, though I’m not sure how I feel about bringing this trend south, as a person who grew up going up Ocean City. Either way, 5 stars for being served correctly in a clear plastic cup.

Margo: a very good, very well balanced margarita.

Fish tacos: incredibly solid. Minor nitpicking includes a suggestion of a slightly increased portion of crema, and more acid in the slaw.

Service: 10/5.

Great addition to CB! We stopped in for lunch and found the restaurant cozy, eclectic and fabulous! They offer only fresh ingredients in all their dishes, especially the fish. Tuna was the fish of the moment for us so we had it in a salad and a grain bowl as well as an order of the chicken tacos and chips with salsa(so good!)They said the menu changes up frequently based on what’s fresh.
Cocktails we also spot on. Loved the Key Lime Ranch Water! We will definitely be back for more! (PS- plant based friendly options, too!!)

Enjoyed this just opened restaurant in CB. The building is a old house converted to a dining area and large size bar area with a beautiful outdoor space. Outdoors included picnic tables, chaise lounges and a place for a future bar.
The wait staff was excellent providing specials and details on dishes. She was very attentive and friendly. .
The yellowfin tuna sandwich was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. . The salsa with chips was bright, citrusy and perfectly flavored with cilantro. It was a large portion as well. The special was a tuna salad wrap with yellowfin and blackfin tuna used. It was large and bursting with flavor.
This is a must visit after the beach for drinks and/or food. We will be visiting often 😊

Absolutely amazing. Their local Mexican beer is very tasty too

First time here was for their oyster roast! Free oysters all day. It was such a fun atmosphere and enough oysters for everyone. Since then I’ve been back about four times. The food is always great! One of the best shrimp on boys! And I loved their hot honey fried chicken lunch special! Please bring it back :)

Absolutely one of our favorite "local" spots in CB. Staff is always amazingly friendly, and the food is always so good. Small menu, but everything we've had has been absolutely great. Seafood is fresh, and with some vegan preferences & dairy allergies in our family, cooks are always so kind to accommodate!

We visit at least once a week since we live nearby, and never had a bad meal or experience. Thanks Sandspur for being awesome!

Love this place!!! The vibe is “your cool grandpa’s fishing/surf shack” meets bar. The backyard is a great chill zone with plenty of seating and room to move around. The staff make ya feel like a regular even if it’s your first time there. I tried one of their cocktails called “The Dove” super yummy and refreshing. I had to get some food too because the whole menu looked bomb. i got the soft shell crab sandwich special with fries. Insanely good. The fries were like classic boardwalk fries and the sandwich was so juicy and flavorful! Stoked to go back!

Ps they had great merch too! Grab a tee!

Everything about the Sandspur is a full 5/5 stars. The location, the drinks, the food, the vibe, the service, the decor! It’s all perfect. It’s like hanging out at your cool uncle’s fishing shack with your friends. The outside space options are also one of my favorite parts, from the covered front porch that’s perfect for hot days and people watching to the backyard that’s spacious and great for kids and dogs. I will be living at the Sandspur for the foreseeable future.

There was no sign, but they can validate parking at the lot next to them with a code. (Wish we knew that before)

Food was incredible got there around 6:30 and sat immediately. The chicken sandwich was delicious and came out extremely hot! Extremely clean inside and outside. Had kids menu with a few options. Definitely suggest visiting this restaurant if you’re in town!

I’m obsessed!!! This place is a VIBE like Wes Anderson went to Baltimore, got into soul music from the 60s, bought an old boat and brought it down to the Carolina’s. The tuna nachos were amazing and so fresh, as were the fish tacos. This is like a healthy locavore twist in bar food which I’m all for. Definitely feels like Cheers run by hot, grown up skater dads IYKYK my 80s kids! Don’t snooze on this place - both cool, unpretentious, and super welcoming.
