Awesome selection of new comics and trades at a pretty affordable price. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I also appreciate that they are still taking COVID seriously. Definitely one of my favorite places to shop in Frederick.

With an excellent selection of both comics and board games and great accessories, it’s an easy stop for any lover of the fantastic. As a gamer, I appreciate the wide range of play styles, aesthetics, themes, and even price points represented among the board games available. It’s always a fun time discovering new offerings!

Great Location, Tons of Inventory for Comic Collectors, Table Top Players, and Terrain and Piece Painting Supplies. Wonderful Staff. I only wish I lived closer. :-)

This is a great little shop in downtown Frederick. The staff are always very friendly. The store has a wide range of interesting items from comics to boardgames to Lego. If you spend a little time there you are sure to find something special.

I fell in love with this place the first time I went to it. This place has an amazing selection of new issues as well as back issues. And it's not just comics, they carry gameboards, graphic novels, and lots and of collectibles. It is definitely impressive. And the owner is super awesome and super friendly. Definitely will lead you in the right direction. Just ask him what you may be looking for. For comics and collectibles, this is an absolute great stop.

Brainstorm Comics and Gaming is one of the best in the area. John who is the owner is always very friendly. His employees are very helpful when I am in town looking for certain comics. I make the trip to this shop from Northern Virginia. Peter handles the pressing and cleaning of books they send on your behalf to CGC for grading. They are honest, trustworthy and have kept me informed all throughout the process. As someone who has only been collecting comics for a year, they thoroughly explain every part of the process to me when submitting to CGC for me. I cannot say enough nice things about this store, it’s owners and the special attention they give to their customers. I can say I am not the easiest to deal with when it comes to my collectibles, but Brainstorm comics has exceeded my expectations. Go check out both of their stores! You will not be disappointed!

Great little store. I’m not into comics but they had a huge selection. Decent selection of paints and minis for war gaming.

The owners of the shop and everyone that works there are so kind and knowledgeable. They are very helpful. They have all the new comics but also a ton of back issues you can go through. It is also pretty well organized. Lots of games and collectables also. Subscribers get a discount, so it is totally worth subscribing to a series you are going to buy anyway. I love this shop, it is one of my favorite places in Frederick.

Been coming here for about year and I have to say, they have great customer service and they are great help over all! 9 out of 10 times they have what I need and when I ask to order something they are quick and helpful. What I really appreciate is when I call for a comic and ask them to hold it for me, i have no problems at all. The people there actually know comics too and i can have conversations with them which is great. I will continue coming here for my monthly comics. I just wish they had membership or something haha

This place has a great board game selection. I'm not really into comics, so I can't speak on that, but they have pretty much any moderately popular board game you could want, really only rivaled by Barnes & Noble and Target in the area, but they are local so I like to give my business to them if possible.

This is clearly a labor of love by the owner! Great collection of Silver Age comics to contemporary. Also a truly satisfying selection of board games, sure to please an army of gamers. Exceptional interaction and service with customers; always a pleasure to walk into this establishment.

Love this place. Best comic & game store in Frederick. Atmosphere and people are awesome, great prices too (tabletop minis always at least 10% off retail). If you're downtown you should definitely check it out!

I have only been reading comics for about 7 years. After listening to descriptions of some of the comics I like, they made some really good recommendations of what I might want to explore next. One of the owners even gave me a copy of one of the recommendations for free. How awesome is that! They have also looked at the comics I ask to place on hold each month and add to it based on what they think I might like. Can't say enough about how well I have been treated here.

Great shop. People who work there are friendly and helpful. Very approachable. The comic books are organized pretty well, have a decent back issue section. Plenty of new stuff. Kids comics near front door. Card games and board games aplenty.

Super friendly staff and conveniently located in downtown Frederick, Brainstorm has the right amount of new content, back issues, trades and other things that you've come to expect from comic shops.

Not the biggest store but definitely one of the biggest selection of kids comics I. The state. They also have a bigger selection of back issues than most shops along with a good selection of graphic novels and current comics. Good selection of gaming too. Super friendly ship, highly recommended.
2021 UPDATE: Now that the Frederick location has moved and they've opened a location in Walkersville the Frederick location only has 3 months of back issues on hand. The Walkersville location has the bulk of the back issues and it's a great selection that includes stabbed books.
The Frederick store still has a solid gaming section but if you're looking for individual cards go to the Walkersville location.
Both locations have a good selection of graphic novels and Pops.
Subscribers can also update their own lists online instead of asking someone at the store to add or remove a title for them.

Nice experience all around, very friendly. Doesn't feel like a customer relationship at all in a good way. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys comics, board/card games or are just interested in them/want to get to know the scene a bit.
