This is a great post office, it’s spacious, the staff is friendly and when there’s a line it usually moves pretty quickly. No idea why they have low stars.
It’s got a little area where you can buy last minute greeting cards and packing supplies, and also sells gift cards if you realized you also need to send a last minute gift.
The best part is that the lobby is open for self serve packages even after the counter closes, so as long as you don’t mind using the machine to pay your postage you can still get things dropped off so they can go out first thing in the AM!

Sadly, it's not too common that a USPS location has many positive reviews, so as a small business owner of over 15 years I just have to share my delight with their service. I needed help intercepting a package at the local Encinitas hub at Garden View Road when a customer of mine fraudulently received a refund AFTER I already shipped a very costly handmade item to them. Time was of the essence in tracking down the shipped package and making sure it got returned to me. I called the Post Office the second they opened, and Carrie already had my package on her desk, ready to process the package intercept request! She reassured me I would get my package back and it would not be delivered to the customer. Words cannot express how wonderful it is to speak with a USPS professional that is knowledgeable and helpful! I know Caesar gets a lot of props on here. Wish I could've spoken with him, too. However, Carrie was just as delightful and I wanted to shout her out by name! Thanks guys!! If I'm ever considering a relocation, it just might be to Encinitas ... I seriously need to experience this magical post office in person, haha.

I have always had a great experience with Garden View post office. Most recently, Melinda went way out of her way to help re-deliver two missed packages. Really excellent customer service that I don't always see from the private carriers. I choose USPS over private carriers only because I'm close to Garden View Post Office. Great work!

I was there on Friday May 6. Great service. A person named Maria helped me ship a small package. By changing the envelope she saved me a lot of money and made it ship quicker. Friendly and helpful.

I missed my passport appointment due to a family emergency and was hoping to be seen as a walk-in appointment. I was eventually seen by Tomika Gomez who was very knowledgeable, patient and helpful assisting with our application. I'm so appreciative she was there to help assist throughout the process. Thank you, Tomika!!!

I don't usually talk to the postal workers behind the desk, but when i have I've always had a pleasant experience. I've never tried to call this post office on the phone, but i have called others and nobody at any post office answers the phone. I always expect to have to go in person to talk to someone. The lobby is big with two multiple automated kiosks. Plenty of room to work on packages before mailing them. A separate retail both where you can purchase packing supplies. Overall a very well-designed facility.

Haven't actually been to this post office yet, but I thought I'd rate it before hand in hopes of a memorable experience!
Customer service will be awesome! The lobby was stellar and even had coffee and doughnuts! I opted for the bagel and cream cheese, but to each their own. The line moved swiftly and a retired Walmart greeter was shaking hands and passing out lollipops while you waited. Again, great job! The bathroom facilities were immaculate and smelled fantastic! Again, great job! Definitely looking forward to another visit! Again, great job!

What an unusually pleasant USPS experience! Ray walked up to help as soon as he saw me indecisive. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and very pleasant and attentive, while also taking care of other customers at the same time. Olivier at the counter sealed the deal with a Hollywood smile and genuine care. Have not been to the San Marcos USPS but, based on today, it’s worth to come to the Encinitas branch just for the customer experience! Thank you :-)

Carrie and the rest of the team here are super friendly and helpful! I had a complicated package delivery issue, but they were patient and helped me get everything resolved in no time. Thank you!

I enjoy going daily to mail packages for my small business & every worker there always makes it such an enjoyable experience!Everyone is so kind & so helpful, my favorite person there is Caesar, he works so fast & always makes me laugh & smile!

I had a lost package. Rita went out of her way and spent a considerable amount of time tracking down the package and getting it to the correct destination. If more people had her level of customer service, we would live in a far better world... Thanks Rita.

I run an Etsy business and take my packages directly here, because it’s the main hub in Encinitas. Other local post offices have to go here next.
They are fast (in delivery), and I never have an issue.
They are polite.
My only complaint is I’ve been offered high prices at the exclusion of all pricing so my daughter is always wondering why I speak loudly and clearly saying, “THE CHEAPEST OPTION.” I get this embarrassed her, but it’s crucial.
Otherwise lines are a pain but self service is available.

This is an extremely busy post office but the staff are always courteous and helpful. A wait is not unusual especially near holidays but they have 3 machines for mailing packages so I rarely spend more than 15 minutes there even at busy times. Staff are unsung heroes for sure.

I don't get what's with the one star reviews... it's a post office with a service center and two self help kiosks. I went to ship a package and was worried about the wait since it was close to the Christmas holiday but I was in and out in less than ten minutes. USPS has flat rate boxes that are easy to use and way cheaper than UPS.

I find the postal workers helpful, kind and patient to a fault even when exhausted. The volume they deal with and prices they charge are so amazing. We would feel it sorely if we lost them.

I am rating the post office highly because it has automated kiosks that are available 24/7! Finally service is available when needed.
