J. Murphy's On Main

Stopped in for lunch and immediately enjoyed the atmosphere of this Irish Pub. When I heard their Clam Chowder was homemade it was the first thing I ordered. It was creamy to a degree that wasn’t overbearing. Plenty of clams and just enough of potatoes to complement the clams. I could have eaten more. Maybe one of the best I ever had. The burger was fresh and charbroiled to perfection. Fries were crispy. Good selection of beers. Service was attentive and restaurant and bathroom very clean. Street parking only.

American classic but with plenty of dishes for any taste and a lot of vegetarian options. Vegetarian chile soup was served in a sort of potato hash brown bowl which was a pleasant complement to the dish. Unlike many restaurants in Cold Spring it’s not touristy and a lot of locals seem to love it, it was Monday. A perfect stop after a day hike! Special thanks to attentive, caring and sweet staff.

The appearance is beautiful, and the staff were nice, the only down side is why I give it a 5 star review, they make you wait for your main meal when the appetizer people at your table finish, which is kinda stupid, but that can't bring down when my food came out a little later. I got my Mac and cheese the staff girl said to me "you got your Mac and cheese" and I said "Yes" back. And the Mac and cheese was good. Before I end the review I wanna say they have good fries here. This is awsome.

We had an amazing day and evening here! Mike, our bartender, made us the perfect martinis, and the food was so good we came back for dinner. We were lucky to visit when this awesome crew of Irish folk musicians were jamming out. The crowd was in great spirits, and we felt right at home. Can’t recommend this spot enough. We will be back!

Excellent meal! Great Service! I had the Spare Ribs - they were delicious, perfectly done! She had Fish n Chips - they were moist and meaty... She lived in the UK for more then a decade and said these were the Best Fish n Chips she has found in the US... "Did not Disappoint" - typical British understatement. We will eat here again!

We were on a Hudson River cruise and found this quaint pub right on Main Street. After a little confusion (do we seat ourselves? wait to be seated?), we were shown to a table and had excellent service.
The decor is very interesting with lots of pictures and signs to read and chat about.
The menu is small, but diverse - pretzel bites, Ruben spring rolls, other 'pub type' appetizers.
We had lunch. I had the short-rib grilled cheese (with spinich) and fries. My partner had the fish n' chips. The food was above average, but not to the level of 'fantastic.' The portions were large. The short-rib meat was generous.
Overall, I would definitely go back when in the Cold Spring area.

Absolutely enjoy a meal at J. Murphy's during any visit to Cold Springs. So disappointing to read the negative reviews commenting on the wait time. When visiting Cold Springs during a busy time of the year or especially during Fall Foliage at it's peak, really what do you expect? Clearly the town is extremely crowded & this will happen !! We put our name on their list, the women stated it would be an hour wait so we walked around by the time we got back she had just called to tell us our table was ready. Simple !! Our meal was amazing as always, the best fish & waffle chips I've had in ages ! The staff as well are amazing just so attentive & serves you with a smile ! Thank you for yet another fabulous meal to end a wonderful day in Cold Springs !!

Great American food. Visited Cold Spring with my wife as part of our honeymoon and thought we'd give it a go. It didn't disappoint. Burger was delicious and cooked to perfection and that chicken parm flatbread is on another level. Quick and efficient service and a very welcoming host. Well done 👍👍👍

First off...staff is quick reliable and friendly. Second... drinks are strong and soooo good! Food... Husband said these are the best oysters he has had. Coconut shrimp was flavorful and taste! Caesar salad was flavored with anchovies just the way I like it. Main course.... I got the best steak and spud that a girl can ask for.... like omg it hit the spot. Hubby had rib with grill cheese which he won't shut up about and aunt had a grill chicken arugula salad. My husband and I are not from Cold springs, my aunt is. We r city kids who love to eat. We will 100% be back to this restaurant. Our server was Chris... he is AMAZING! I took pics after we started eating so I apologize for that but trust me, the flavor was on point!

We came in here after a hike. I just did a Google search for this place and I got to say I love the smell when you walk in the door of old wood. Would also think the food was pretty amazing as well. The burger and chicken sandwich were spectacular and the clam chowder as well.

Stopped by J Murphy’s for a post hike lunch in Cold Spring. Usually hang out in town after hikes and am glad that a new spot opened up at this Main St building. The space looks welcoming

Food was great and the staff was on point. Looking forward to coming back next time we’re in town.

1st time visit to the area. Saw this place on Google Maps. Sweet surprise! Looking for a light bite and cold beer. The brussel sprouts were crispy perfection and the Reubens rolls had the best crisp shell and dipping sauces of mustard and a thousand island dip. Sitting outside on a beautiful day. Really happy we stopped in!

Very good food. The fish & chips are delicious, as are the other meals when I get the chance to go there. Piped-in music too loud for my taste, but the staff are friendly & good service.

My wife and I can to J. MURPHY’s for the first time and I can’t say enough to recommend such friendly place, the food was fantastic. I had the Incredible burger and it blew my socks off. Then we walk down Main Street to visit the shops and continued down to the water front. J. MURPHY’s is the place to go.

Had the cauliflower crust pizza with herbed ricotta and a balsamic type dressing topped with arugula, carrots, avocado, onions and tomatoes.

I have to say, I really wasn’t expecting much. I was just curious, but it was really tasty!

The only thing I will say is I have TMJ and my jaw really hurt after eating it. The crust is quite chewy. I don’t normally have pain eating food unless it’s like a big bagel or something so if you have TMJ, maybe don’t get this, but otherwise it’s quite tasty and I highly recommend!

Great food, double jd with a splash of coke was weak. Good food tho but service sucked with a attitude.

Both my husband and I got the specials, and we both agreed the Reuben and the Cali Turkey Club were the best we’ve ever had! The service was great, the patio was dog friendly, and the walk from the riverfront very enjoyable. I gave 4/5 stars because of the close proximity of the patio to a busy and noisy intersection.

We stood in a brunch line 20 minutes elsewhere in Cold Spring before talking a short stroll further up Main to J. Murphy’s. Glad we did. The atmosphere is cozy, food was fast and delicious, and everyone was just so damn friendly. Maybe by the time you read this they will have updated hours on Google but they open at 11 on Sundays, NOT noon. When in doubt, just call and see if they’re open. The bar looked super cozy—if we’re ever in Cold Spring again we’ll come back for a cocktail.

Very solid burger and beer spot after a nice hike. Friendly staff and great service. They gave us extra water pitchers as we were parched. Burgers and brisket grilled cheese really hit the spot. Fantastic try selection as well. Highly recommend the parm truffle add on

Love this place. The simple menu somehow has more food for vegetarian and GF dietary requirements than establishments 4 times its size and menu space.

Everything we had was delicious.
