Jamestown Visitors Center was amazing!
The National Parks did and are doing a great job here as always.
I can't describe the feeling of being there and learning the history that came from this settlement. Overwhelming!
Loved every minute of the visit, the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. This is another National Parks must-see!
I highly recommend!

Our second visit was much better, staff was friendly and we were able to tour the grounds and the museum. This is an incredible place visit and see how our nation started and all of the tremendous sacrifice required to keep enough people alive in order for the colony to survive. Absolutely one of my favorite places I visited in the area. Make sure to see the old church and the museum, the cafe is also well worth stopping by.

People who are working there are very kind. There is a nice exhibition in the visitor's center giving a lot of information about how the Jamestownehow was founded and about how developed in the later yearse

Guided tour had a lot of info. So much history at this site. Alot of walking, there is an archeological dig taking place on some of the site. Interesting to see the work they are doing. Cafe on site was nice. By the james river. Limited menu. Greek salad was good.

The museum is awesome. Informative and beautiful while the Indian village, 3 ships and the recreation of the settlement with the guides just brimming with knowledge - well worth the tickets. Be aware though, the tickets are seperate for the actual site but also worth while - take your Golden Eagle pass.

A wonderful historical site. Grateful to the owners for honoring the NPS disability pass. I took a short walk around the property and exhibit as it was close to closing time when I arrived. The pass allows me to go back and visit at a leisurely pace so I don't get stressed. Which is a huge benefit!!! Thank you. The staff was very friendly. The site is clean and well maintained. Lots of important history presented. Being on the river makes it a naturally beautiful and peaceful setting.

This was such a great educational experience. My kids and I loved this place. We all learned new stuff about Jamestown and the Native Americans. It is a National Park so you can use your park pass to go into the Park or pay for a pass.

This place is very nice. There are live archeological digs and many people around to answer questions. Rather than reading a boring textbook about what went on here it’s much more interesting to visit the place yourself. I’d recommend coming on archeology day. There was a blacksmith, wood carver, Native American, and a bunch of archeologists at the park today who were each doing stuff in their respected trades. There’s a museum that has artifacts discovered at Jamestown. There is also a somewhat large gift shop in the visitors center and a nice little sandwich shop outside. You need a mask for all the buildings!

We stopped at the Visitors Center to get a one day ticket. The employee suggested a tour on women sailing from England to the Colonies. We did make it in time to listen to the program. The 2 hour program ended too soon. People followed the guide to ask more questions. It was the best part of the trip. It brought the story to a factual explanation.

Lots of history and active archeological digs on site. We visited all sites in the historic Triangle and this stop was my husband's favorite. Lots to see- just be prepared for lots of walking.

Was a fantastic visit this time. My travel partner and I saw new dig sites and the Archeological folks were very friendly and willing to talk about what had been found and some extensive history as well. The newer museum we toured with all of the finds so far including the skeletal remains was very informative. We can't wait to come back in a few years and see what new things have been unearthed. Love this place and the cost is cheap for such a historical walk through our history and beyond...

There are so many other hyper-commercialized venues in the area that I really thought we would just pop into the visitor center here, stamp our NPS passport book, have a quick look around the ruins and then head out. 30 minutes tops.

Almost five hours later...

From the adults, all the way down to the six-year old, this was one of our most favorite tops in the entire historic triangle. Definitely visit on a weekday when the archaeologists are at work all around the grounds. We found them to be full of fascinating information on current excavations done, and one of them was so engaging with my kids that he invited them to help him sift for historical pieces in an area they were excavating (they found a pottery piece big enough to be saved for further analyzation).

Even though, with the exception of the church, there are not standing buildings anymore, they do a wonderful job of showing the layout and boundaries that they have uncovered so far. It was very special to stand at the spot in the original church where Pocahontas married John Rolfe.

The Archaearium was full of incredibly artifacts, and of course my kids found the skeletons impossible to look away from. One of my kids had just finished reading Blood on the River and the sequal Poison in the Colony and being able to see the remains of characters he'd become attached to in the book was certainly an experience he will never forget.

We could have spent even more time here (and in fact we did return on a Sunday - but we missed seeing the archeologists at work, so stick with weekdays if you can).

Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

A nice museum telling about the history of Jamestown. There is an additional fee to see the grounds to cover Archaeology Foundation funds.

Cool museum friendly staff. Be sure to check in here when you come visit and get your maps. Also note worthy, they have a U.S. post office here. You an mail a letter and it will be postmarked Jamestown settlement!

A fascinating look into the struggles of these early colonists. It is very well done and well worth your time not to mention standing on the site where the first English colonist came ashore is pretty amazing.

I have been here a number of time since the early 1970s. Over the years there has been a lot of new information added about the settlement. The starving time where it appears the people resorted to cannibalism They found what appears to be a 16 year old girl who was used for food.

Took the kids on a fun little history trip. What a great way to see our nation's history good/bad it's important for us to learn and not repeat our mistakes.

We went to New Towne and took in the scenery you could actually feel the past as you walk the ancient grounds and how the Pohtawan were robbed of their land and home by the English.
