Awesome open air spot, lots of windows, and space between seating made this place very comfortable. Hostess was super tentative and friendly. They sat our group of 7 at the high-top table, which was perfect for us. Our server was great with orders and tending to us. I ordered Bacon, egg and cheese on a fresh English muffin. The sandwich had a good amount of egg and lots of tasty bacon. The wife had Berry Wild French Toast, which was sweet and savory. Very big order, so make sure you're hungry. They also served fresh orange juice and bomb house Coffee. We will be back!

My wife and I were out in Ocean Side looking for a sit and a sandwich when Rye’s and Grind came up in our search. Even though their menu didn’t explicitly state that they had a gluten free option, we opted to give them a call. The staff informed us they could accommodate my dietary restrictions and would do their best to take extra precautions to prevent cross contamination on their cook top.

My wife ordered a pastrami sandwich while I opted for the Gluten Free Motley Loo. Both sandwiches were extremely well appointed with some of the tastiest pastrami I’ve had this side of the Mississippi.

The staff informed me that though the latkes were made without gluten, their fryers were a cross contamination risk, so their steak fries, tots, latkes, and rosemary home fries would be off limits for me. Thankfully, their coleslaw and potato salad were delightful and rich so I didn’t feel left out of the side order game.

My wife reported her latkes were top notch, and they came with all of the condiments you could possibly want including what tasted like homemade salsas.

On top of the top notch service and food, the coffee was hot, rich, and bold, which is what we needed on a surprisingly rainy day in Southern California.

Everything about my experience with Rye’s and Grind was above and beyond. I cannot commend the staff enough for the compassion, service, and attention the team gave us even at the end of their day.

If you’re thinking about going to Rye’s and Grind but can’t make a decision, just go. The team, food, venue, and coffee were all top notch.

If you’re reading this, go! The food is amazing. I had the lox eggs Benedict on potato latkes and they were the best I’ve ever had! We also tried the Willy wonka macha latte hot and it was delicious. Allowed for dog to sit on the outdoor patio with us. Our server Allie was amazing, sweet and so attentive. Well priced, food is out of this world, and the service is amazing!!!

Loved it! Best deli I have been to in quite a while. I had a coffee cocktail and a pastrami pusher and both were super satisfying. Ate lunch with 4 people and 4 different sandwiches were ordered and all were enjoyed. Three of the four of is brought home a half sandwich, they are huge! It took a teenaged boy to finish one.

I wanted a breakfast sandwich before getting back on the road. Ryes and Grind was close by so I ordered Lox Bagel. (Only my second time ever). The service was prompt and friendly. The food was very tasty. I give this 5 stars with the hope to comeback the next time I’m in town. I should have taken time to take a picture of the meal but I got greedy and didn’t pace myself.

I had the pastrami bagel sandwich and it was delicious! The sauce on the side was a perfect compliment. Probably the best breakfast I've had in Oceanside. Great service by Bri!

I’M IN LOVE!
Love, I tell you! But fear not my other loves, this one poses no threat!
It was love at first sight – or more like love at first bite. I’m so pleased to have found this gem in my own backyard. Ryes and Grind is a relatively new restaurant on Coast Highway in Oceanside. Described on their website as a West Coast delicatessen, it has all the trappings of a Jewish deli. It is that and more – much more.
I fancy myself a foodie – because I have a passion for food. I mean good food, especially unique dishes. To quote Chef Antoine: “To truly appreciate any culinary delight, one must engage all of one’s senses. It is not merely enough to approach food as a gustatory adventure, rather truly good food should be seen as a work of art – visually appealing, texturally satisfying, aromatically stimulating and unique in presentation.” I am happy to report that Ryes and Grind scored high marks in each of these indices. You could say that it Ryeses to the occasion.
This place serves both lunch and breakfast and offers a great selection of breakfast items and hearty deli sandwiches. So, before you begin your daily grind, be sure to head out to Ryes and Grind.
I’ve saved the best for last. The staff is very friendly. Smiles abound! My waitress was Allie. I couldn’t have asked for a better, more attentive server. It helped also that she has the same name as my daughter – sort of. She was great in helping me narrow down my selection. I chose the shaksouka. This is a dish of poached eggs in a spicy, flavorful tomato sauce. It came loaded with bell peppers and feta. To me, it seemed like a stew and a great tasting one at that.
Allie was kind enough to serve me a complementary slice of cheesecake – also very flavorful. And in contrast to so many other cheesecakes I’ve sampled, this one was light and airy.
There are so many things on the menu that I am dying to try. The menu is both tempting and funny. Take for example, the sandwich called “High Holiday.” One of the ingredients is shaved ham. And the drinks menu (they have a full bar!) is full of delightful (and humorous) sounding drinks. So, of course, I will return. I’m especially looking forward to having a deli sandwich that’ll remind me of the one I had several year ago at Katz’s Deli in New York. The owner is from the East Coast and is very familiar with that kind of food.
The website states: “It’s not always Kosher at Ryes and Grind but guess what, it’s always delicious.” So, so true! And so I end with this:
“Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Ryes and Grind is great!”

Some of the comments on the lower reviews are kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Scoring a restaurant low because of proximity to the street & street noise, or the bill total when you saw the prices on the menu and still ordered those items seems pretty silly. This place is amazing, and reasonably priced, especially considering regular chain sandwich shops are like $12-14 now, and similar deli restaurants are charging $24-27 per sandwich. Great staff, great ambiance, & amazing food. What more could you ask for? (Bonus- probably the best pickles I’ve ever had come with the sandwich too)

Everything we ate was excellent though the service was a bit slow. Wait staff made an error on my order so then I had to wait again, but in the end it was so delicious it was worth it.

Cool spot. Great staff. The breakfast potatoes never fail. I like that they have a well curated list of non alcoholic beers. I think they had 3 on rotation. All cans. I don't day drink any more unless it is a special special occasion, so it's nice to have a refreshing chella with some breakfast/lunch. They had a salt and lime lager this last time that was real good. It's becoming the go-to spot for us after attending Sunday service at the Sanctuary church.

Came here with my family. Picky teens and a toddler. Everyone loved their meals.! Fresh and tasty! Bagels were like no others. I got the house hash with brisket.

Delicious, the service was great, food came out fast, presentation was lovely. The decor is awesome. And the women's bathroom gave us some fun laughs.

Highly recommend.

If I could rate this place 100 stars, I would. Better than communal or anything near it that I've tried in Oceanside (which is a lot). Had a sausage and egg and havarti bagel sandwich. Little to no wait time. The cold brew wasn't amazing but the bagel sandwich more than made up for it. Not crowded on a Saturday, and friendly staff.

Wow. This is like a “modern Jewish deli”, and a complete hidden gem in Oceanside!!! My husband and I are obsessed and are coming back for lunch and brunch tomorrow! We live in the area but just found this place today and are so upset! Wish we could have eaten here months ago!
Unbelievable pastrami and Brisket, with options for every eater on the menu. Super cute vibe and definitely get a homemade donut! It was delicious!

I got the "Pastrami Pusher" and it's fantastic!! The service was great as well. Highly recommend this place. Bring a friend and an appetite cuz the sandwich is a beast. Btw...the onion rings are damn good too.

Food was pretty tasty. Onion rings were on point. Bloody Mary was spicy the way I asked for it. A chill spot for a drink or some coffee. Great place to people watch.

Great service and good wait times for food.

The quality of ingredients is also really good, and they don't cut corners.

I only wish the pancakes would be better. They weren't to my liking and instead reminded me of a cornbread like texture and taste.

Had the Gabagool Grinder. Came with a healthy stack of deli meats, cheese, and vege toppings. Bread seems to be made in house, as I'm assuming a lot of their food is. Toasted properly like an east coast grinder. Food was very flavorful, but I felt as if it could have used some more vinegar for some acid.
Got the rosemary breakfast potato with hollandaise sauce. Wonderfully savory and that hollandaise looked and tasted great.
The Sunday Bloody Mary went great with the sandwich. They had an option to add deli meats to it for like $8 bucks more.
Our waitress was great but when we first walked in it seemed like there were some employees behind the cashier looking around like they didn't know what they were doing. Also our table wasn't leveled so it would rock back and forth as we are.

what a great surprise to find Ryes and Grind in Oceanside so close to my home. I had lunch there today: a bagel with cream cheese and lox. I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but I did, and loved every single bite. The wait staff could not be friendlier, I really can’t wait to go back

Five stars for being any kind of a Jewish deli in Oceanside! I've been meaning to stop by here for a while but I'm not a big sit down breakfast type. The physical space is a little awkward, more bar restaurant than anything resembling any kind of deli, but its a pleasant, airy space with an outdoor seating area. Looks like a big brunch opportunity, plenty of coffee cocktails and regular cocktails which is unusual but not unheard of for a breakfast/lunch place.

I ordered a cup of coffee, which was good and free refills and a bagel with lox, which was really good. My bill was under 20 which is about what you pay for a lox bagel and a coffee anywhere in Southern California. They had some extremely serious breakfast items, like a pastrami latke dish, that I would try if I run a half marathon first.

Service was very friendly. Hope they stick around!!!!
