Miramar Fish Tacos & Beer

Came in as we were on our way to Carlsbad and saw the amount of great reviews so we had to stop in! Great service, stopped by during happy hour and the food did not disappoint. The garlic shrimp taco was DELICIOUS, paired with a cold Modelo made it even better! Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in town!

My husband and I are visiting from GA and this was on our top list of places to eat once we got off the plane. Johnny was our server and he went above and beyond. He provided great drink and taco recommendations, plus ensured our order was specific to my dietary needs. The drinks were great but the food was even better! Added a few photos. We are big foodies and recommend this place 10/10.

This place is fantastic. We got their seafood take on the California Burrito and one each of fried fish, garlic shrimp, and grilled salmon tacos; everything was delicious, but especially noteworthy were the burrito and salmon taco. Prices were very reasonable - I'd say cheap - and the servers were very helpful and polite.

Miramar Fish Tacos & Beer's creative and fresh combinations of flavors, textures, and meats prove that seafood tacos needn't be beholden to batter and that we ought to "think outside the Baja." Not exactly an ocean-view place as its name may suggest, this quaint but clean modern taqueria is tucked away in a strip mall in east Oceanside.

The "Octopus Taco" is filled with large chunks of grilled octopus, along with cilantro and onions. The meat was well-seasoned and tender and drizzled in a tangy white sauce. Miramar does not make the thin yellow corn tortillas they use in-house, though they have sourced a decent enough bagged tortilla. I wish they were a bit sturdier, or griddled until completely firm, but the taste is pleasant. If you enjoy incendiary salsas, I recommend adding the serrano-based salsa verde to this taco, which packs quite the wallop.

Speaking of incendiary, the combustible "Shrimp Jalapeño Taco" will damage you if you're not careful, but it is so. friggin'. good. It is dead simple, just some big, plump grilled shrimp slathered in a sauce that tastes like it has been made out of a purée of fresh jalapeños, onions, and herbs, served on top of melted cheese. There are no other sauces needed or toppings added. This is one of North County's most delightful yet hard-hitting tacos, and absolutely worth a special trip.

The final taco I sampled was the "Arrachera Steak Taco" taco with the "taqueso" tortilla made by grilling cheese onto one of the house's corn tortillas. Again, the tortillas are not a stand-out, even if the fillings are. Such was the case again with this taco, which consisted of juicy, well-seasoned steak that is well-crusted from the grill, a slice of avocado, and a smoky, creamy chipotle sauce. Move over flank steak, San Diego has discovered arrachera for our carne asada tacos and I couldn't be happier for it.

A warning: Miramar Fish Tacos & Beer's acerbic salsa roja tastes soapy and does their tacos no favors, so stick to the aforementioned salsa verde. Notwithstanding that problem, Miramar Fish Taco & Beer is an absolute 5-star gem -- one of the more enjoyable meals I had this past summer.

I spent 5 days in California on vacation, and THIS PLACE took the cake for best place to eat. We were in Oceanside visiting a friend and were looking for some local eats. Tacos are decently priced and oh.my.god. that mahi-mahi taco is *chefs kiss 👌*. Our drinks were never empty, and the lady who took our order was super sweet. They also had tvs on playing baseball and football games while we were there. If yall want fantastic tacos and to chill n watch a game...this is your place to do it!

We're back!!! Sister and I use to come here at least 2/3 times a month. We took a few months break from dining out and one evening after asking "what's for dinner?" We both said together
" FISH CHURRONES!!" We Love them and didn't realize really how good they are until tasting our first bites again. They have added a new cook "Santiago" and he cooked our churrones perfectly but Jose is still there with his friendly smile and have given Santiago plenty of good advice. I prefer no salt added and he cooked them to our liking. Order them with a cold beer and a shrimp taco it completed our dinner.

I had a little company over the other night and I had seen this little place tucked between the Wingstop and 7-11 on Douglas by the 76. The parking here is terrible, although the lot is big and well lit, way worth it. I asked Johny, who has worked here for about six months, most of the other employees have worked here since it opened in 2014. Johny was excited to tell me about the place and was quite proud of the product they put out. Happy, compensated, long term employees are the secret sauce, Johny confidently promised me we would return. (He was 100% on that)
Their Covis -19 protocols were relaxed a bit like most. They did have indoor seating as well as seating in their quaint patio. Ideally at this place you want to sit at the bar and sample their wide selection of local micro beers or one of their many wines. This would be a great place to bring a date.
The place has a jazzy atmosphere and I believe Johny that the place gets packed, it was doing brisk business when I popped in to grab an order to go near closing time.
I asked what the specialty was and he said the smoked tuna tacos but they were out. I can't wait to try those. I ordered a couple of the shrimp Diablo (I like really spicy and they defiantly didn't dissapoint), regular shrimp tacos, fish tacos, steak tacos and chicken. They were all absolutely fantastic, we raved about them all night long. Their tacos run about $4 each, they are not trying to make the cheapest taco, clearly they want to be the best taco you have ever eaten. I can see why Johny was so proud of their tacos and certain I would return.

I had the Tostada Especial and it is Definitely enough for 2. Delicious with great customer service and family environment. My Mom had the fish tacos and they were gone in record timing. We had a blast and will return. The menu is off the chain so much I want to try. Thanks Fam.

Great tacos restaurant. Definitely try the fish tacos. The Mahi Mahi tacos are also good. Friendly, efficient service. There is seating inside and a great outdoor eating area. Kid friendly too.

Awesome mexican seafood. The smoked tuna fries and smoked tuna tacos are delicious.
Tip: Wednesday is all day happy hour and all the appetizers are awesome. I even tried the tamarino michelada for the first time, funky Mexican beer cocktail.
Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

I was here for their launch a few years ago. Still the best tacos with the freshest ingredients. Customer service is by far the best I’ve experienced at a restaurant, period. Sorry about the picture of the plate. The food was too good to wait

Everything is amazing here, I'm not a big fan of seafood because most of the time I can't stand the smell, I've come around to thinking I just hadn't experienced it prepared well. Loved their ceviche, my husband got a seafood burrito that I didn't think I would even like. It was amazing. We got the fish chicharrones and the sauce is to die for! The fish taco wasn't anything special but it was good. My arrachera taco was mind blowing.

I mainly come back here for 2 things: the smoked ahimsa tuna cali burrito or fries & the Tamarind Michelada which is the only time I have Micheladas :)

Amazing tacos,margaritas and beer! I tried the fish, grilled fish and shrimp tacos! Started with a really good margarita and finished off with a Ballast Point Sculpin! Definitely would recommend ! Staff was friendly! Quaint little spot!

Quality food at an excellent price. The shrimp ceviche it was outstanding. Definitely coming back.

Mahi Mahi tacos are worth it. Just saying... If your thinking of the best fish tacos, is it the place?... the answer is yes. Civeché mixed (fish and shrimp) tasted fresh and delicious. Fresh seafood and deliciously made fresh handmade margaritas. Amazing staff. Fast service. Can't go wrong. I wish I lived closer, this would be my home. I have been been here in the area 3 days and have ate here all 2 of the 3 days and already regret not going here on my first day. I will return. (I don't get anything for any promotions I just love fresh fish tacos)
