1418 Coffee - Historic Downtown Plano, TX

I’m a career barista with 7 years of third-wave coffee experience, and I make a point to go to shops whenever I’m visiting new places. It’s been 6 years since I visited 1418 but it left such an impression that I had to go back since I was in the area. 1418, unlike almost every other shop I’ve visited in the Dallas area, is the entire package: knowledgeable staff, carefully prepared coffee, and a comfortable atmosphere. The barista who rang me up made me feel welcome and was proactive about helping me find a drink that I would like. She told me about the house and feature espresso, explaining the origin and tasting notes of both, and did the same for the drip coffee. My cappuccino was excellent, and so was my drip coffee. Even after 6 years, 1418 continues to deliver well-crafted coffee and a welcoming experience. Keep it up, guys.

We stopped by after dinner for dessert. Our party ordered the Triple-Berry Tart, a Chocolate Chip Muffin, and a Gluten Free Brownie. Since it was evening, we did not order coffee but I wish we had. The coffee drink menu looked so tempting and the aroma of coffee was enticing. Bagged coffee is available for purchase. We need to go back in the morning. What I particularly liked was the vibe. Customers stayed in the restaurant to enjoy their coffee or meal. Some customers were visiting, some were typing on a laptop. It was not noisy like Starbucks. It is a beautifully restored older building. Check out the tin tile ceiling. I could see spending hours here, sitting in a comfortable sofa, and sipping coffee.

My now fiancé brought me here for our second date when we started seeing each other. From my first visit to the last, I have felt so welcomed and served! The baristas have always been so friendly and kind! They take time to let me ask questions, hear my preferences, and offer recommendations. Last Friday (12/29), when I came to finish a book that I was reading, I asked about the winter seasonal drinks and the baristas suggested the Brown Butter Sage Latte. They both raved about it and one of them said it was their favorite drink. I decided to try it and it was truly delightful, like a cup of Christmas joy! It should be the signature drink of 1418.

What amazes me is the camaraderie and dynamic of everyone who works there! They are a friends that are also teammates and are doing great things in their business. I'm glad to always have a great experience every time I go and very grateful that my fiancé decided to take me to one of her favorite coffee shop!

Was long line when I get there I guess it’s popular place for sure. Coffee was great and I got an iced americano and my friends got hot latte. Both coffee and sweets was good.

Great ambiance, coffee, and brownies! Randomly stumbled upon this gem of a coffee shop. 10/10 recommend! Expect to wait to find a place to sit, but well worth it!

It was too good to have Fall special coffee here. Sonia and Jaden were so nice and attended very well. It was my 1st time but surely will come back again..Great ambience, Jazz music and good vibes

Now this is a coffee shop. Overstuffed chairs, cute patio downtown, warm lighting with great coffee and food items. The sandwich was served cold which surprised me, I think it would have been better toasted, but still good. Will be back!

Visited this quaint little coffee shop last weekend and was absolutely delighted by the experience. The food was a real treat - from the perfectly baked pastries to the freshly prepared sandwiches, every bite was a delight. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff was not only efficient but also incredibly respectful and attentive to our needs. They made sure our coffee was just how we liked it and were quick to offer recommendations. The cozy ambiance added to the overall charm of the place. Definitely a hidden gem for anyone looking for quality food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Will be returning soon!

The best coffee place so far that I’ve visited in Plano. The vibe is authentic. Ambience is great, the moment you enter the place the smell of coffee just drags you in. Creative place and a lot different types of seatings available. The coffee specials are great, just love the coffee and the experience. The staff is also great. Would be going to this place more often.

My wife and I came her around 10 am on a Saturday, and it was PACKED!
We were lucky to get a seat together.
I ordered a large iced mocha as per usual, my wife ordered the David Mason, which is a latte with honey and cinnamon.
We also ordered two breakfast tacos that are made by McNeals Tavern and Eatery next door.

The mocha was well balanced between coffee and milk. My wife enjoyed her latte but thought it could use more cinnamon. The tacos were tasty and were quite large.

About $21 for everything.

These guys have it figured out. It’s Sunday morning and incredibly busy. Despite that I had to leave and come back to get my drink (I should have left more than 15 minutes in my schedule for this stop), they were extremely kind and accommodating and my drink (today, chai but usually cappuccino) is amazing. Definitely make time to be here. Highly recommend. (Wish they had more space but they do great with what they do have.)

On my list of favorite coffee houses in the Dallas area. Comfortable and welcoming place to hang out while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. Good selection of pastries too and a few sandwiches is you want food. I’ve been there on my own and with others - comfortable place to hang out with both indoor and outdoor seating. Went yesterday and it was decorated for Christmas which made it even cuter.

I personally was not the biggest fan of the iced Lavender Vanilla Latte, but the service was great and really made up for it! The barista was very knowledgeable and helpful. We will still definitely go back to try other flavors. The location is in a cool spot.

Great aroma, amazing ambiance, strong coffee and sweet desserts!!

Nestled in downtown Plano, this shop is the coolest! A mix of antique decor and comfy couches and beautiful flowers everywhere. I loved the exposed brick wall and original ceiling.

The coffee was strong and flavorful and the chocolate chip cookie was decadent! The service was pleasant and overall this place was a great find!

I've recently decided to stop purchasing Starbucks bc the price keeps increasing but the quality has declined. Decided to try this place and everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. I've never stayed inside but it looks like a nice cozy spot to hang out. My drink tastes great every time.

I feel like I became a little bit cooler just by being here. Typical small hipster-esque coffee shop on the historic square- very chill atmosphere and low lighting, lots of seating options inside and outside tables. The vibes and location are worth the visit. We had the Bees knees latte (honey and cinnamon) and purple hazel late- with lavender, pretty good. They have Taco deli breakfast tacos and pastries are available also.

What business owner walks the restaurant to check on patrons 10yrs after opening the doors?? Excellent businesses. David (owner) and (Jess) manager were on point with client experience today. Couldn’t be more grateful to have popped in this morning. Toddler-free relaxation is rare in our house. We about 10-12 min drive from 1418. It’s become our go to when we have a sitter to get away and relax and enjoy a cozy environment with excellent coffee and tea. Thanks for the amazing coffee and cinnamon roll this morning. Pardon the half eaten cinnamon roll pic. I couldn’t wait. Haha

Rare find. Lives up to the reviews! Good coffee knowledgeable baristas and good service even when they are slammed with people feigning for coffee. If you’re in Plano this is a solid spot. Cozy unique and the latte art speaks for itself. I’m definitely a fan and I’ll be coming by again soon! They know their beans, they know the flavor profiles and their machines seem dailed :).
