Bayou Cajun Cafe

Based on previous reviews, sounds like their steaks are not prepared well. I can happily share that our seafood dishes are amazing. I ordered the seafood scampi which had large prawns, scallops and mussels and it was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The other half ordered the crawfish etouffee and he really enjoyed his dish.

The waitress was absolutely fabulous and attentive. The restaurant was bright, clean and really nice. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Kerrville.

Wonderful cajun food! The seafood gumbo was fantastic and hot! My husband had a crab boil and shrimp it was excellent! Service was also the best! We cant wait for our next date night.

The food was wonderful, the calamari strips were thick and very good! They were good. The batter on all the fried food is great well seasoned. all of the food was awesome. All the dipping sauces were on point and the staff was wonderful.!!

What a great surprise and find the Bayou was the other day. Honest to goodness Cajun in the Texas Hill Country. I kept it simple and had a single menu item with ice tea. The Crawfish Étouffée was superb. Better than anything I have had in the greater San Antonio metro are and the Surrounding areas. You owe it to yourself to make the drive to Kerrville down Hwy 16 to enjoy some true Cajun cooking.

Excellent food, fried seafood baskets have huge portions and are great! The gumbo is outstanding and they actually have fried softshell crabs! I moved to Kerrville and am from New Orleans and had low expectations and was blown away! Love this place, one of my favorites in Kerrville!

We are hooked this place has the best chicken gumbo, fried shrimp, hush puppies, catfish as so on ,the waitress was excellent, I highly recommend you try it you will love it and return ,besides we enjoy our drive from San Antonio to Kerrville its beautiful. Can't wait to go back to Bayou Cajun.

This restaurant is really nice. It's very clean and decorated so cute. The food and staff are all above and beyond! Phenomenal!!!

First time eating here for Veteran's Day! Everything was spectacular! Any meal was completely free for veterans including desert. They really treated us special. Food and service was exceptional! Thank you Thank you!

The food was delicious. We started with bbq shrimp appetizer and had a redfish with a fabulous sauce to top it off. Will definitely be coming back soon. And the service was excellent

We had an oyster poboy and Cajun pasta. They were both amazing and we are not strangers to Cajun cooking.

LOVED IT. From entry to exit the staff was kind. Service great. Clean environment. We ordered the ‘Perfect Bayou’, ‘Gumbo’ and a mixed drink and of course dessert (scrumptious brownie and icecream) From the flavor to the portion size, all was delicious and well worth it. Can’t believe a place like that is in Kerrville. Will definitely be returning.

Wow! What a great restaurant. The food was tasty and perfectly made. My wife and I both got the shrimp and grits and the meal was tremendous.

Our server was Rachel. Not only was she is server but she's part of the management team. She was friendly, professional, and efficient.

The atmosphere was consistent with it being a Cajun restaurant. The decorating was very well done. My wife and I don't get to Kerrville often, but if we do we will definitely go back.

I was with a Lunch group of eight people, and we were served quickly and efficiently. I ordered calamari and a fish platter. It was all excellent! All the folks around me were very satisfied with their food as well. The restaurant was full, but we had no problem hearing each other. And the banana pudding is to die for!

This location has been several different types of restaurants over the years. It's hard to do much more than what's been done to change the existing atmosphere. The food and people are what makes this place great. Dishes that automatically make you think New Orleans are all over the menu. And the presentation plus flavor is all you could hope for.

I've been hearing from people how good this place was. Went for daughter's birthday with a party of 8. Super impressed! I recommend trying them out. This is one of the new restaurants in town that needs to stay open. Great service too!
I love the 2 "other" seafood restaurants in town because of the nostalgia and their consistency, but if Bayou Cafe can keep up this level of service and quality consistently, then Bayou Cafe will have both of them beat. Sad to say...

If you're looking for good reasonably priced seafood and Cajun food with a friendly atmosphere, this is the place you need to go, it is excellent. Up till now, I haven't been dissatisfied one bit with anything I've eaten there. Frog legs were huge and delicious and the fried shrimp was more than I could eat. The boils may seem to be pricey but keep in mind the price of crab legs these days, they are ridiculous. I rate this restaurant a five star.

Impressed! Clean, family friendly, and an upbeat vibe. This has been my favorite restaurant experience in Kerrville. It was bouncing in there! The staff is friendly and speedy. Head chef 👨‍🍳 is interested and involved with the customer experience. He had a raw sense of teamwork and enthusiasm for making food enjoyable and fun that one can appreciate. Very humble. Some may argue that the flavors are different from what they are used to but they make it their own. If you are foodies like us, you crave that uniqueness and it was delivered. All was delicious. Any negative reviews you read I would consider the context heavily prior to dismissing the opportunity to try it with an open mind.

What a hidded gem!!! We ordered mudbugs and they were big and delicious!! The raw oysters are large and very good. We were visited by the owner and chef to ask how our meal was. That is rare and shows they really care about their customers. I highly recommend checking them out.

My husband and I were thoroughly surprised. It was awesome. The service was excellent. We started out with the calamari and I ordered the fish basket and husband got the seafood platter. Hope you bring your appetite because you get large helpings. I noticed everyone who left had a to go box. Highly recommend.
