Rio Ranch Cafe

This place is a rare treat of the Hill country. They have quite a variety of food categories to include breakfast staples, Mexican, Seafood, sandwiches and more. My family got a little bit of everything so I was able to partake of more things than my El Patron sandwich with Mango Aoioli slaw which was phenomenal. This sandwich was loaded with fixings on the side and they are quite generous with the amount. I challenge anyone to fit them all in the sandwich but good to eat them on the side as well that way the bread doesn't get soggy. The fact they bring it out like that tells me they pay close attention to detail in their cuisine. My parents enjoyed this place so much they dined there three days in a row while visiting. They are really THAT good!

This joint is on point. Many options to choose from on the menu. The food is crazy good and the prices are surprisingly affordable. I would eat here several times a week if I lived nearby. Unfortunately it looks like maybe a couple times a month since I live 35 miles away! So far I have ordered the first 2 things on the menu and I am contemplating just continuing down the menu in order!

Probably the best breakfast I had, everything is made in house and from scratch. We tried the Smoked Brisket Hash and El Jeffe Breakfast plates. Served with homemade tortillas and buttermilk biscuits. Place is packed on Saturday at 8 AM. A local's favorite!!!

Return visit September '23: The food (El Jefe Plate and Divorced Eggs) were just simply amazing again and served with fluffy homemade tortillas 😋. Service 4/5 stars as our order was taken after 30 minutes, but the food definitely made it all good!

Food was good. I didn’t particularly like what I ordered but that came down to me, not the dish. My husband enjoyed his breakfast.
Menu was vast, lots of breakfast choices. We’ll be back.

I've never had anything here that isn't delicious. We had a Sunday breakfast during a huge rush, and still had our food really fast. Service is great, food is too. Definitely recommend it.

Another visit I tried the brisket tamales. I believe they may be the best thing I have ever eaten. I usually have the brisket here one way or another. Today was the tamales. Incredible. I'm stuffed, but sad the deliciousness had to end.

A hidden gem, worth a drive. You will not be sorry.

Our food came out SUPER FAST, portion sizes are very generous and everything was delicious! Great prices, too. We had the migas, chicken and waffles, French toast and Johnny Cake

I visit Rio Ranch every time I'm in the area and have introduced several people to their amazing food. No one has ever been disappointed and it's always full of happy customers and staff!

Absolutely amazing. The food was fast, fresh, and delicious. And let me tell you about the prices. VERY affordable. Absolutely great experience. And that Large Chicken fried steak is WAY bigger than the pictures.

I called a day ahead and asked to order a large order really early in the morning. They had it all ready a little early and packaged it all beautifully! This order was for some overnight workers who deserved some extra love! The service was excellent and the food was delicious!

OMG! My daughter and I stopped here before we went to Lucky Star Art Camp for the week! Hands down best breakfast ever! Our waitress was amazing! Love love love!!

My two grandkids and myself enjoyed 3 large breakfast plates. Prepared excellently, served in quickly, checked several times, and coffee stayed full. And they had a full house.

This place isn't fancy so if that's what you're looking for this isn't it. However, the cafe is fine and my meal was so good and at a great price. Would definitely come back!

"Was", my favorite breakfast place. They changed the menu and cooks. NUEVO RANCHERO last (2) times here for breakfast was "Terrible", sausage patties overlooked ( burnt), overeasy eggs burned crispy on bottom, hash brown potatoes burnt crisp toast was burned... worst was the Ranchero sauce was unacceptable, not the standard Tex Mex Ranchero (tomato, jalapeño, onion).
They have completely lost the old fashion Texas ranch style cooking they started with.
Four of us have eaten there regularly for several years (All of us are native Texas ranchers).
Breakfast Definitely not recommended

The food was really good and you get very large portions. They were very busy but the service was great.

Small town restaurant with delicious meals. Large variety and it’s always a great meal for breakfast or dinner!
