Thirsty Whale was who we went with for our wedding cake. The tasting box was phenomenal. Only wish is that we could have met with someone about the design of our cake - we did send them photos for inspiration and it turned out really well! We only had a bite of the cake ourselves as we were busy running around, but I heard from others that the flavor and texture were great! A good experience and we loved working with Thirsty Whale!

Thirsty Whale was who we ended up picking for our wedding cake! They’re located just 2 miles from our home, and 2 miles from the venue we picked, so the location was perfectly in the middle. Their donuts are amazing and a big factor in why we thought of them. Their pricing is extremely fair, they were one of the most affordable options we came across.

We used another bakery for other desserts at the wedding, so unfortunately thirsty whale would not deliver the cake, but there were no issues there. They recommended we keep it flat on the ground in the car and just be conscious of how we were driving. We got it there in perfect condition (but it seemed like the longest 5 minutes of my life haha).

They followed our cake inspiration to a T, it was absolutely gorgeous, and it of course tasted phenomenal. The tasting box we got back in April was perfect as well. We’re both so glad they got a second chance at staying open as we love stopping here.

Thirsty Whale delivered the most amazing cutting cake and cheesecake shooters for my wedding! They were beautiful, affordable, and (most importantly) delicious. Thirsty Whale worked with my wife and I to make sure the cake had rainbow layers and edible glitter and to create a rainbow with different fruit toppings on the cheesecake shooters. It all created the most perfect Pride weekend effect. Thanks for making the wedding dessert unforgettable!

So grateful for the Thirsty Whale! Needed a Star Wars themed birthday cake last minute. Because it was short notice, they told me it would be “simple,” but this exceeded my expectations & everyone loved it. Highly recommend!

Probably the best donuts that we have had in the twin cities, hands down. My wife and I were looking for a new shop to try that we’d never been to before, and we saw this place had some pretty good reviews, and they are 100% deserved. The gentleman behind the counter that helped us was genuinely excited to have us in their shop, and about their products. He walked us through every donut they had, and gave us his recommendations. There was also a donut that they were “testing out” that had a pineapple filling that was extraordinary. It was topped with a mango icing and white chocolate flakes. Keep working on that, because that pineapple filling needs to be featured in a donut for sure. I’ll be back on a monthly cadence for the maple bacon donut, because the filling inside of that thing just might possibly be the key to world peace. Great bakery.

I was lucky enough to have two cakes from thirsty whale and they executed the vision PERFECTLY on both and were so good about checking in with me and made the payment process super easy!

The sponge was delicious and the fudge in the center was incredible! Cant wait to order many more goodies from them in the future and also try their peanut butter buddy cookies!!!

I ordered a Van Halen themed birthday cake and they nailed the logo I requested for the top. It was a German chocolate cake with cherry filling. So so so delicious. Great customer service and high-quality craftsmanship by the Thirsty Whale staff.

Thirsty Whale has the best cakes and cupcakes! I enjoyed an amazing chocolate cake with a delicious filling from Thirsty Whale. I also had some super delicious cupcakes that were frosted and had cute white chocolate curls on top. I love cake! The cake and cupcakes were some of the best I have every tasted.

Thirsty Whale did our wedding cakes and I would highly recommend them for both special events and your everyday bake-good needs! We wanted to have our "cats" at the wedding through cakes and they turned out better than we could imagine. People were amazed how real they looked! Absolutely loved the cakes and they were a huge hit!

Stopped in for a dozen donuts to give as a gift, and one extra for a dessert craving wife. Was met with 12 amazing looking donuts, a very cool guy working the register and a 10/10 mango iced donut with pineapple jelly. Would give 6 stars if I could, and they earned an absolute repeat customer.

Can't say enough good stuff about these folks! They made absolutely delicious cakes for our Dad's 70th birthday. Their cakes were moist and had just the right amount of sweetness (not the sickly stuff you'd get from a grocery store). You also can definitely tell that they used real butter in the frosting. We gave them pretty limited details for our theme (the movies) and they ran with it in all the best ways. Their out-of-this-world design had creative details that made the cakes really special (70 in the ticket number, popcorn shaped icing!). We were also really impressed with their customer service. Would order from them again in a heartbeat.

Again another amazing experience with their cakes, I sent multiple pictures to create a half/half retirement/birthday casino cake for my Aunt and they delivered! I only had one small issue but nothing that would prevent me from coming back, also the smudge was from my being clumsy taking it out, not from the bakery. The cake was delicious; we had chocolate with chocolate mousse, honeywine moscato with triple berry jam(my personal fav) and marble with cream cheese filling. Everyone loved this cake and I directed them all to Thirsty Whale! Some guests even ate a slice of each tier because they had to try them all. No disappointments!

Everything is amazing and fairly priced! From their Cakes to their cupcakes, the flavor is always amazing and the cake is never dry. Their custom cakes are absolutely fantastic and even the fondant tastes good! This is honestly the only bakery I use in the Twin Cities for every occasion.

We were over the moon with how our cake turned out. We had one meeting and tasting early on in our wedding planning with Megan. We gave her our vision and she took a sketch based off of our description. Through two COVID reschedules, a lot of time passed from that meeting to our reception date but my oh my, let me tell you, I was almost in tears of absolute joy when I saw the cake being delivered and set up. It was absolutely perfect and exceeded our expectations, I didn’t even want to cut into it and I wish I could have saved it forever! Plus, probably most importantly for a bakery, the cake was DELICIOUS!!!

My husband and I went into the bakery to return the cake/cupcake stand rentals the next day and while we were there we heard someone say, “was that for the Hobbit cake?” and then came around the corner and it was Megan to congratulate us and it was just such a sweet moment and it’s things like that that give me the fuzzies and make me happy to support local businesses. We also had to walk out with a bunch of freshly baked treats, Thirsty Whale never disappoints!!

Everyone and everything about the Thirsty Whale is AMAZING 🤩🤩 We drive over an hour for their goodies and never ever regret it! The staff is (somehow) even better than the treats 🫶🏻 such amazing kind hearted people that create the best baked goods, a phenomenal team, and such a bright fun environment! This bakery absolutely crushed it! I had my sights set on ice cream cone styled cake pops, and so many other bakeries said they couldn’t do it. Out of the many custom cakes I’ve ordered over the years, this place created my favorite! Bravo! - update Aug 2023: another slam dunk by this bakery for their Super Mario cake creation for my daughter’s 5th birthday! Order your custom cakes from here, you will not be disappointed 🥳

Before trying out Thirsty Whale, I didn’t know of a premier specialty cake bakery in the Twin Cities; now I definitely know to go to Thirsty Whale. They were so accommodating with our last-minute (under two weeks) request, could print images on edible paper, and though our cake was complicated to describe, they totally nailed it. They were so nice when we picked it up too, expressing their condolences for the deceased. A must for all your specialty cake needs!

Got this cake for sisters baby shower and it exceeded my expectations everyone loved the cake. We didn’t even want to eat it because it was so pretty but it also tasted good too, this will always be my go to place for my cakes💜

Thirsty Whale has, in my opinion, the BEST donuts in the Twin Cities. They also have amazing cake. We used both at our wedding last fall, and it couldn't have been better! We received numerous compliments on our donut wall - display and taste - and we were OBSESSED with our cake. Three different flavors of cake, with three different fillings, made to look SO beautiful. The prices for such quality food cannot be beat, the staff and owners are the BEST to work with, and their talents are incredible. Could not recommend them more.

I wanted a small simple cake, and thirsty whale did such a lovely job that I had to share. I recommend to anyone looking for a delicious way to celebrate an occasion.
