Compass Coffee

It has been a while since I last visited this location, but I can always rely on their flavorful and robust coffee, which makes it consistently perfect. The excellent service and the place's always well-maintained and tidy make it an ideal location to relax, sip coffee, or watch the surroundings through its window while I enjoy my coffee.

I live in Fairfax and I pass by the store everyday on the way home. It's really inviting with the contemporary design and sunlight from the windows. I swung by and got hooked. It's my place to chill on my day off now. There are plenty of seats at the coffee shop for us to sit back, relax, and chill with the cup of coffee. You can easily find the strong cold brew to light vanilla latte. They have just added the Cherry Blossom flavor which is really interesting.
The staff here are super friendly and helpful. If you are new to Compass, do not hesitate to ask them for the recommendations. Sometimes the customer line is long but they handle the orders quickly with the big smile.
The store is pretty clean and loaded with plants and flowers. It feels like home!
They sell the coffee bean tins and you can bring the tin(s) back to refill with a discount. And you can bring your tumbler so the staff can make the coffee for you. This is really nice for environmental friendly customers.
They have the apps; however, it's for IOS users at the moment. I think they are working on the Android version atm. Take advantage of their apps for the promos.

The place is quite cozy for a group of friends to come chat and drink coffee or just come by yourself to work or study. The coffee tastes good. The staff were knowledgeable about their drinks and was able to make recommendations for less sugary drink. The whole vibe of the place is pretty upbeat. I can't remember if it were playing any music. I'd add some music personally but also understand the quietness is good. I do recommend this place over any Starbucks.

Came here for opening day when they were offering free coffee. Compass coffee has the best coffee hands down, I just wish there were more locations in NoVa! The service was really great even with the insane volume of customers that day. My order came out quick despite this and error-free. The layout and atmosphere is that of a typical Compass Coffee and seemed very spacious even with so many people there at once.

Would definitely recommend if you’re a coffee fan or need a nice place to study at!

First visit to this relatively new Compass Coffee. Big, bright shop with plenty of seating. Well decorated with an ample self-serve station (you don't see these much anymore). Cardinal Roast drip with cream and a decaf mocha.

I love their iced chai and almond croissants! The staff are quick and friendly and keep the cafe clean. I would call myself a regular since people are learning my name and order, and it is always nice to talk with the employees. The reward system is great as well. The app sometimes can be buggy but that is more of a company problem than an actual location issue. You won't be standing in a line for too long to get your food and drinks. Parking is also easy if you are running in or staying.

Cool atmosphere. Great place to telework or hangout. Coffee was great. Wonderful space.

My favorite coffee shop in the area. Coffee and breakfast sandwiches are great. Service excellent. My only complaint is that sometimes its too busy to grab a seat.

The chai latte and cherry blossom lattes are so good and if there’s space to sit it’s nice to stay for a bit and work.

The staff are amazing! The make what could be just a transaction personal, remember regular customers, make recommendations and are great conversation. The store could be a little cleaner, but they see high traffic, so they do their best during the rushes.

Just throwing in another 5-star review. The coffee and customer service is outstanding. It’s also not soulless like Starbucks. In addition they also have a good selection of coffee gear if you need a grinder or an aero press.

Not much food like a Starbucks but that’s not a big deal. Their coffee is way better.

Well lit comfy coffee shop, stuffed full of an impressive mix of clientele. Had a pumpkin spice latte that was better than the “original”

Almond butter latte was very good but it was served warm, not hot.
Drinks are expensive but it's worth it. The only downside about this cafe is that it closes little early.

Here are some things I love about this place:
The aesthetic and ambience are perfect for studying or catching up with a friend. They have simple syrup available to sweeten iced drinks. They have ample seating and tons of outlets! And they have some darn good coffee.

On Saturday 6 April, my wife and I had coffee in the Fairfax store. She left a book/journal that she keeps a lot of important information in. She didn't realize this till after the store had closed Sunday evening. I took her to the store first thing Monday morning, and we spoke to a young woman that worked the day we came in, and she found the journal, put it to the side and gave it to my wife. I / we cannot thank that young woman enough, it was such a nice thing she did for my wife.

Excellent Business Model. I have even inquired as to when they might start franchising. Roomy. Plenty of space. Plenty of choices. Love the periodic discounts and email we get that gives us $5 off every few months. The best part is the occasional discount that does not expire. We compare it to other places to see where we want to go. And we choose Compass Coffee because of the occasional non expiring, easy to access discount. We don't have to put in our phone number to get the discount. It automatically attaches to the Credit Card we use. Very advanced system.

Compass is a classic coffee shop. A DC staple, and some of the best coffee you will have. I purchase their beans, cold brews, and of course speciality drinks often.
