This was a fantastic experience. The owner was more than helpful. She gave us advice that truly helped us. We purchased parts for our floor looms and we’re thankful that she had what we needed. This store has so many different types of products for several types of crafters from weaving, crocheting, basket weaving, wood working tools, leather and clay tools. This is a go-to resource. Many thanks.

Really great store with a lot of variety and a nice calm atmosphere. Went in to get supplies to learn to drop spindle and the woman at the register was not only super helpful she even gave me some pointers

We were glad to see their safety precautions, though that included limits on the number of shoppers in the store, and a 30-minute time limit. All the usual supplies, books, equipment, etc appear to be available on the shelves, and the manager is helpful with answering questions. Great place to go for multiple inspirations and finding experts!

A real gem! Very helpful and informative! I felt very welcome and not judged at all for my beginner status—in fact, I felt encouraged in a very practical way. I left feeling like I could contact them any time with questions and orders—which I look forward to doing as I live out of state.

Incredibly helpful, kind and thoughtful staff. These folks got me and my tiny business through the pandemic. I placed orders on their website and they made sure I had everything I needed and always called to confirm my order and answer questions.

Don’t be dissuaded by the curt reviews, Earth Guild and it’s staff are a treasure.

Can’t wait to shop in person again and looking forward to sourcing my supplies here for years to come.

I love this store. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and even talkative. I love the selection. They seem to have everything I've ever wanted to play with; fiber, yarn, clay, embroidery, etc.

While I was there, 2 people sat down and started reading some of the books that are for sale. The staff wasn't very happy about that. People who want to browse their books and take pictures of things should understand, this is a STORE, not a LIBRARY! However, the staff treated them very politely. More so than I would have.

I visited about a year about before the virus. I came in, and the owner greeted me warmly, but stayed at the counter reading, and let me wander around and get my feet under me. It is a cool store, and I appreciated her not feeling a need to pounce on me when I walked in. I also didn't touch the fibers or yarns though. We joked about the looms. I still love the joke she made. She leaned in and said, " the secret of weaving is, never EVER give your 1st piece to your mother. You will get better, but she will never get rid of it!" I could have howled laughing because to this day my mother has the most sad woven cloth I made 10 years ago on her table like it is the finest table runner. She answered my questions about spinning. She gave me recommendations about wool, and about processing some wool I already had (a process mind you she made no money explaining to me!) And all of this happened shortly before closing.
Children like to "look" by touching things. The spinning fibers look soft, and the drop spindles look like PERFECT swords. But many of the things in the store are expensive, like the looms, and are made with great care, like the wool. If people are handling the yarn, and especially the carded wool, it will get oily and ruined quickly. There are just some stores that kids have to know they cannot handle things in. If she has to be a little stern to get that message across, I see no issue with that. I am sure they get a lot of foot traffic in downtown asheville and she has to protect her products from getting dingy from frequent handling.

This place is our idea of Craft heaven ! We were on a walk around downtown and as soon as my wife saw it , she darted in and was instantly smitten ! The range of product is amazing , even I found items for my woodworking craft that I could not get back home. My wife is a mad keen Felter , so the wools and all of the other fabric items held her attention in thrall. We left with armfuls of product , hoping that customs would be kind and let us bring them back home ! Staff were great , we visited twice , happy to do so.

I've been into the store about three times now. Once, on a weekday. Never treated anything but sweetly. A calm atmosphere but probably not a place for your littles to wander freely. It's a grown up kind of store with things you might not want them handling.

Excellent selection and things I can't get anywhere else locally. Asheville trips are a luxury for us as it's a 3 hour trip both ways. This store always makes it worth the trip.

This is a great store to source high end yarns and looks as well as craft books and even historical clothing patterns. Staff is really knowledgeable and quick to help. Prices are a little high but so is the quality of the products.

Forget the bad reviews and listen to me. I just came from Earth Guild and I'm elated with my experience. Blair was amazing, the real deal and helped me so much. Not only did she donate yarn for my animal welfare project, knitting warm blankets for animals in need but also spent an hour helping me with a sweater I had started over 20 years ago and stopped due to one reason or another. It was an amazing experience and they are down to earth. If you want sugar coating then go to babysitter. If you want real and sound advice and help better come here. I can't say enough about Earth Guild and its staff. Thank you Blair. I will be back. Beth💖😉🎉

Oh! So many hobbies and all the supplies in one place. Went in for cotton dye and saw so many other things I need to try. One day. Great prices. Lovely customer service. Bad for my budget.

I travel from Florida to Asheville, and visit this shop each time. Can't get enough of it. I am a fiber artist and instructor, and love the variety of rovings, weaving supplies, and dyes, etc. I always have a good experience, and have received good responses to my (sometimes) dumb questions. To those who want to bring children, please keep them by the hand or leave them with a friend to go for a walk while you shop. Their tactile experience can be at home, after you have made a purchase and taken it home for them to play with. I love kids, but keep in mind that sticky hands can compromise fine, expensive fibers!

This is an incredible store_I live in a remote area, so a place like this is unheard of. I've never seen so many supplies for fiber arts in one place.. Not only that, they have supplies for other art forms as well. They even have clay! It was worth braving the downtown for sure. We stopped there following the "Yarn Trail."

Don't be put off if one of the people there sees you at the door and growls "do you have an appointment!?" You don't need one if they aren't full and these days they often aren't full. Great selection of craft supplies that you won't find in big box stores

A delightful place to buy quality craft supplies for yarn crafts, leatherwork, sketching, basket weaving, and Folkwear sewing patterns! They've got tons of instructional craft books and other craft goodies. They're always pleasant and happy to help you find whatever you may need!

They have it all. Very knowledgeable and local business for 50 years. If you love weaving this is the best place in the southeast.

Great supply place for any handmade craft tradition. Weaving, spinning, looms, yarn, wood carving, stone carving, basket making, clay, and much much more. Prices are what you would expect for a trendy town.

Have no idea what that one star review is talking about. Everyone is helpful and good natured. For someone who doesn't weave but shops for one who does , it's nice to have such a selection and help.
