Scratch Bakery Cafe

Very clean,calm and inviting atmosphere! The staff here is always so nice and customer focused which is much needed here due to all of the amazing flavors and selections! This visit I got a Strawberry Crunch and Birthday Cupcake and trust me, it's as delicious as it looks.

Excellent! So, so good! The service, the location, the ice cream, cupcakes, and milkshake were all amazing. It was a hot day, and this was the perfect cooldown. We had wonderful, helpful service with a smile. The young lady answered all of my questions and even gave suggestions when asked. My husband had a cookie n cream milkshake. It is bluebell ice cream, creamy and delicious. The milkshake had the perfect consistency. Even on this hot day, it didn't melt right away. And, it was served with a milkshake straw, which is super important yet somehow overlooked by many other shops in the area. I had a cookie ice cream sandwich. It was a sugar cookie. You pick the flavor. I went with cookies n cream after a suggestion. I got my mother a Key lime cupcake and a double lemon cupcake. She said they were delicious! They must have been because they were gone before I could snap a picture! Everything was exceptional. And it smells amazing in the open-air historic brick building in beautiful downtown Phoebus, Hampton VA.

Such an adorable bakery and their cakes are da bomb! We had the strawberry cheesecake crunch and it was so so good! Excellent service. The owner and staff are so sweet. We’re coming back for breakfast!

If I could give more stars, I would! The ambiance, the decor, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE, the flavor & everything else wrapped in one is a 10000/10. By the time I got there, it was slim pickings, to be expected, but they still fully accommodated us and made sure we had a 5-star experience! I will be back time and time again.

My friends had got a custom cake here a few times and based on their experience the people there seemed overall nice and talked through what they can offer and make.
And the cakes were good! Rich cream and moist cake, the flavors were tasty. And then I've also had their lemonade and peach cobbler chewie(?) Which were also good.

I’m in town visiting family and they told I had to try this bakery and they were absolutely right! Not only is the desserts and ice cream delicious but also the food! We got The BB (bacon jam and bacon grilled cheese ) and The Scratch Club to eat,the mango orange sorbet, and 1/2 Cookie Monster 1/2 crazy for cookie ice cream, and one strawberry cake and one Cookies and cream cake to go! They did not disappoint and also the young man behind the counter was so pleasant! If you are in town definitely try them out!

We walked in and were greeted by a young man who welcomed us and asked if we had been there before. We said that we hadn't and he told us all about the place and what they had to offer. We ordered a cookie, a Reeses cupcake and a wedding cake cupcake... the (very friendly) lady who came out and took our order went back and grabbed the appropriate cupcakes and then topped them fresh for us, right in front of us. WOW! These cupcakes are fantastic! They melt in your mouth! They are fresh, moist and flavorful. I really wish this place was where we live and not just a great place to visit on vacation. I would give these a 10 star review if I could. The best cupcake (Reeses) I've ever had. And I tasted my wife's wedding cake (which isn't my favorite flavor normally) and was excellent as well. Make the trip if in the area or even within 50 +/- miles of the area.
Side note...The bathrooms were clean and nice as well....well done you guys.

1 critique... the floor was a bit (a lot) sticky but still doesn't change my mind on the rest of the experience.

A friend andmyself stopped in there yesterday and had a very lovely time . We were celebrating and we had a really good time trying to pick from the many treats! Cuz you get to pick your own ice cream for your banana split everything was fresh I had to get a cupcake and crumble up in mine as well as everything else that was on it caramel different toppings with waffle cone pieces and pecans my friend had a banana split as well we were impressed! She had the chicken salad sandwich which she really enjoyed very friendly staff it was a good idea for sure! go enjoy yourself you're worth it. !! Yum yum what a treat!!

What a gorgeous little bakery and it was seen on the Food Network so I have to give it a try! We got Death by Chocolate, Red Velvet and Carrots cupcakes and they were tremendous tasteful! Price were moderate to high, $18 for 4 cupcakes, highly recommended!

This absolutely adorable bakery is in the heart of Hampton. If you are driving through do yourself a favor and stop and get the banana pudding. It was incredibly delicious. Their cake slices are gigantic , I can't wait to go back and try some more of their treats.

The best items the fam loved the most on your menu... "Triple Strawberry cupcake, bread pudding, peach cobbler both topped w/ scoop of homemade butter pecan ice cream, and banna pudding absolutely "Delish!" You can deff "taste the love ❤

Historical Phoebus's Main Street is a great place for us to take a weekend stroll and/or a date-nite/afternoon out with a sweetie. Also, the small business shops, restaurants, Brewery's, and your awesome Bakery Bistro Café are a lovely nuance for our family, friends, and a couples nite-out experience...

The red velvet was so good I didn't even get a picture of it. The decor is super cute and staff is friendly. They have moved locations right across the street which is so much better now.

This spot was already on my radar but came highly recommended by a local business owner I spoke to down the street.

We came in for snacks mid-day while exploring Phoebus and it did not disappoint.

We got a fresh fruit lemon aid, chai latte iced, avocado toast and a pimento grilled cheese.

The avo toast was a generous portion for $4.75 and had two pieces of toast loaded with avo, bacon, tomato, everything seasoning and aioli.

The pimento grilled cheese was cheddar and pimento perfectly grilled on a buttered garlic toast with jalapeños mixed in. It was to die for. Best of my life. We loved it. Noms.

Drinks were great and the cupcakes, cakes and ice cream all looked amazing. Next time!

Plenty of seating, a beautiful inside and a patio outside. Plenty of street and back lot parking as well!

A little neighborhood cafe/bakery. Worth the stop in if you’re in the area. They have a variety of baked goods to choose from, all of which are scrumptious. The coffee is really good too.

IDK what they put in this food, but it is ADDICTIVE! It is so good. They weren’t joking when they told me this stuff is like crack. I’ve tried the Red Velvet Cake, the Death by Chocolate cake, and the banana pudding. All of them are absolutely amazing. I could eat it for the rest of my life. If you’re thinking about going there, just do it. it’s worth it

Went my first time just before closing. Unlike most places, I still felt welcome at the last minute. Cupcakes and cake were great. Might need some insulin next time. Only suggestion, open at 8 am so we can pickup on the way to work

This became my go to coffee shop n bakery while in Hampton. Great vibe, delicious food, and their iced chai latte is amazing.

The customer service was great. The cupcakes are amazing!!! Red velvet and dirty wedding are my favorite.

Truthfully I did not know this shop was there. It is a nice little cozy shop with friendly staff. Upon entering I received a warm welcome and greeted with a masked smiled (you can tell by the eyes).

I got 2 slices of cake, one was red velvet and the other was banana caramel. They were so good! I will be returning and telling my friends and family about this shop.
