Sweetest owners and atmosphere in a cute small town! Kid friendly! The waffle cone was amazing. We tried the Andies Mint, Peanut Butter Cup, Double Chocolate, Vanilla and a chocolate covered strawberry. They were all delicious and so fresh! Customer service goes a long way no matter what the food tastes like but this place won us over on both fronts! My only recommendation would be some live acoustic music by Marty in between churning the ice cream! BONUS they offer some gluten free options and he was working on a dairy free ice cream while we were there. There’s something for everyone!

Nostalgic and sweet memories. Came here many times in 2020/2021 when we lived close. You can see how much passion, effort, and love went into this ice cream shop. The warm smiles and kindness from the employees. They have the BEST small batch homemade ice cream. You surely must make it a stop on your next todo list.

The campfire flavor has been my favorite for years. As well as their award winning double chocolate ice cream.

I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and this place was like HEAVEN to me! They have so many dessert options I ended up trying 4 different ones! But I have to say, the sea salt chocolate chip cookie and the ice cream cones were the absolute BEST (yes, you can even eat the cone - and it's massive)! It's also a very cute shop and the staff were very knowledgeable on food allergies. I even met the owner and got to know his celiac story! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone, who like me, has so many limited dessert options and when we do find one (it's usually not good)... Don't miss out!

We discovered a delightful small-batch ice-cream shop in downtown Smyra Friday night and definitely plan to go back.

Janarty's makes 80 flavors of ice cream in-house, and have 8 of these flavors available each day, including gluten-free icecreams, and even a dairy free icecream option. They also have gluten-free brownies, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, Rice Krispy Treats, Fudge, and other delights.

We had a Kid's Scoop (1 scoop) of Oreo Mint in a cup and a 2 scoop of Double Chocolate in a waffle cone. Both were creamy and delicious.

Found a little gem that serves the most delicious homemade ice cream, best I’ve had so far! The chocolate pudding had such a rich, velvety and amazing flavor! The place is such a cute family friendly, full of little pieces of art and drawings on the walls making it very homy and reflecting its family owned spirit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Went in on a whim last night while visiting the area with my family. It happened to be their anniversary party. With live music playing. SO MUCH FUN! the ice cream was phenomenal and the staff was so attentive and kind. I was in the shop for about 45 minutes eating my sweet potato ice cream and listening to music, I watched the staff clean the place nonstop! Beyond impressed, 100% the BEST ice cream anywhere!

Best place ever for Gluten free dessert! There were many GF choices ..... 6 types of ice cream, waffle cones, waffle bowls, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered oreos , and chocolate dipped pretzels. I feel like I am forgetting something. I have missed these things... especially brownies.... for almost a year due to a recent health diagnosis forcing me to go GF. The employees were very nice. I am guessing it was the owners that came in while we were there. They were extremely polite. Even gave me some cooking tips for gluten free tasty food. My husband, who is not GF, tried my waffle cone and said it was the best waffle cone he's ever had. Crunchy, cookie like flavor and texture. There are no preservatives in their food. Ice cream is home made. Prices are not ridiculous like gluten free options at other restaurants. I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!!

the ice cream here is phenomenal and the waffle cone in the cup was so smart for people who like it but don't want it dripping down their hand. a place i could never forget and takes my number one spot for best ice cream place. their other desserts are also great such as rice krispie treats and brownies.

Homemade ice cream and bakery treats that are absolutely amazing. The campfire ice cream is perfectly balanced with a smokey, sweet, and crunchy flavor. You can find two kinds of Chess pie, cake pops, brownies, and more! The ambiance is so cute and there are hearts everywhere to remind you that they make everything with love. 💕

Visited Janarty’s Homemade Ice Cream Shop with the grandchildren…and adult children. This place is made from scratch HOMEMADE ice cream…and it is OMG delicious! When Reeves-Sain Pharmacy closed in Murfreesboro I thought having a delicious milkshake was gone. I can honestly say the milkshake here is exceptional, and I LOVED the use of a bubble tea straw versus the skinny straw where you wear yourself out trying to get some of the shake through it. The ice cream dishes here are extremely rich in flavors and the homemade waffle cones are incredible. Along with all of the ice cream treats, they have cookies, macaroons, and other beverages available.

What makes this place extremely special and a fun place to visit…talking with the owners Janelle and Marty. You can hear the passion for what they do in their voice and it shows in the quality products they serve. And while you are there enjoying your ice cream, you might get to watch the train zip by to parts unknown.

I have seen this place for a while and since my daughter mentioned going there with her father, I decided she and I would go today to see what it's all about. I was not disappointed at all matter of fact I loved everything about it as soon as I walked in.

The shop is small which is a plus because you're not overwhelmed by so many choices of ice cream and having to stand there for a while trying to decide what you want.

They keep the shop clean which I also love because some place don't so that's refreshing. They make their ice cream fresh every day and they don't use artificial flavors or anything ((except food dye for the mint which I agree with the owner, it makes it prettier.)) They make all the other treats by hand daily as well so everything there is as fresh as you can imagine.

If you want a specific flavor, just message them on Facebook and let them know twenty four hours in advance and they will make it for you. Also, they have other flavors besides the ones that are out and to find those flavors just go check out their Facebook. This will be my new go to for ice cream treats and a cool little place to hang out while enjoying the sweets.

They are a husband and wife team and they are both very kind individuals and are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Please go check them out!! You won't be disappointed.

The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful, and talk you through all the flavors and ingredients.

There selections change regularly, so there's always something new to try.

Love this local ice cream shop. Very nice owner and staff. Atmosphere is 10/10 I want to revise my review because janartys is amazing. They have high quality ingredients and its safe for individuals with food allergies or disorders. I'm leaving this comment up because their response has fantastic information in it.

EDIT: I am changing my 2 star review to a 5 star review based on the interaction I just had with the owner alone! We talked on the phone & worked it all out. Jannell is making sure all is worked out. She not only refunded our order but is inviting us back to make sure we fall in love with their ice cream as much as they love their business & customers.

I was so looking forward to getting ice cream here. Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience. Before we even paid, my son’s two scoops fell out of his cone. They didn’t seem to know what to do (the workers were teen girls) so they directed me to throw the cone away. The reason why the ice cream fell out was because the scoops were so small & hard that they were rolling around in the cone. My son had to tip the cone to get to the icecream & both scoops fell right out! They asked me if I wanted another cone. I should have said yes but I feel bad asking for anything special due to anxiety so I said “I feel bad and it’s ok…”fully expecting them to say ‘oh my gosh, it’s ok let me get you another one’! But we went to checkout & I paid for all four orders including the one in the trash can. I still can’t believe I was charged for an ice cream that we didn’t even get to eat! But worse of all…the three we did get had no taste & the cones tasted stale so they all ended up in the trash can by the time we got to the other side of the street. And that’s saying a lot that teen boys who eat anything would do that! We are not picky people at all! In all my 45 years I don’t think I’ve ever left a bad review…but I was soooooo looking forward to eating some ice cream!

Sometimes, as a Local Guide, you go to a place that blows you away. Janarty's is such a place. The whole place is just amazing. The store itself is clean, easy to find, and in Smyrna's hip-and-trendy depot district. They know me by name in there, and all of the staff are super-duper friendly and kind. The ice cream is by far the best in the state, with rotating flavors (often ones suggested by customers - hint, hint) that make the absolute perfect treat on almost any day. If you go for a cone, their homemade waffle cones are a delicacy. If ice cream isn't your thing, they also frequently have fudge, cookie sandwiches, and other little non-frozen treats. If it's a bit cold outside, don't let that keep you from stopping by. They have homemade hot chocolate for such weather, and their hot coco easily bests that of Starbucks in both taste and price. I love this place; I really do. It's such a nice atmosphere, the ice cream is spot-on, the staff is top-notch, the prices are about the same as a Baskin Robins, and above all, it's a great way to support a family owned local business. I find myself in there twice a week if not more. There's a reason why this place doesn't have bad reviews, folks, and take it from a local guide: you won't find a better place.

Janelle & Marty are delightful and their ice cream shop is super sweet. I'd been wanting to stop in for a couple years & just hadn't taken the time. I'm so glad we did today. The ice cream flavors were really good & I could tell it was premium, handmade ice cream; very creamy with great flavor. My daughter had blackberry swirl and cookies & cream. I had earl grey lavender & cinnamon brown sugar. We both agreed that each of our flavors were good alone, but the combos took the flavor to a whole other level! It was a real nice treat to sit & enjoy the ice cream while chatting with the very friendly staff. We will definitely be back very soon. Thanks Janarty's!!

This place is very clean, neat, friendly staff & everything is made from scratch. The ice cream just melts in your mouth. It doesn't have that gritty sweet taste, its a clean fresh sweet authentic taste. You can taste & enjoy the flavor of your ice cream without the sweetness over powering the flavor. The cones are the same way, its not too sweet or too thick.

Delicious! Their ice cream is so good and their waffle cones are even better!! Amazing ice cream! And a great atmosphere! It seems like a very family oriented place as well. Great place to treat out of town guests to and for a fun family treat!
