Amazing breakfast spot that has been in business for ages. The pancakes are gigantic, the chicken fried steak is delicious, and the gravy is top notch. I’ll be back soon!

It's nice to know dome things just don't change, and the food at the Potato Shack is the same high quality that they served 33 years ago when we lived in Encintas. Definitely, one of my must stops when we are back in the area, 5 stars all around!!!

Potato Shack Cafe was a great stop, absolutely amazing breakfast, can’t say enough for the manhole size pancakes they serve to the eggs and sausage, by far one of the best places for someone who just loves biscuits and gravy, biscuit was light and fluffy, gravy had amazing taste. Great little out of the way place, hats off!

We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine with our breakfast, Food was good. Eggs, potatoes, country fried steak, potato patties, biscuits and gravy, eggs Benedict, it was all good! Service is good too. We have been coming here for close to 20 years and I think the same guy owns it. It's still cash only, but you can pay with venmo now as an alternative. Don't forget the salsa. I find myself ordering specifically so I can eat more salsa. Those potato patties are the best. Still a great place for breakfast after all these years.

Yummy food and huge portions. They only take cash or Venmo but do have an ATM in the restaurant. My husband has been coming here since he was a teen and now we get to bring our children. It's also dog friendly on the patio. We will be back again!

A great place to eat. Only open for breakfast and lunch. The food is awesome and unbelievable. Cash only... Great pictures are on the walls. The biscuits and gravy is to died for... you need to stop by.

This place has the best potatoes I've ever had. They are all you eat and they are outstanding. Another thing that is amazing are the gigantic pancakes. All around is a great place to eat. Bring cash, but it's definitely worth it!

Potato Shack is an important part of our breakfast spot rotation! We always can count on good food and even better service. They don’t make them like this anymore!

They don't take credit cards but they do have an atm,absolutely worth stopping in,if we are ever back out here in Ca we will be back.

If you ever get a hankering for some good breakfast food, look no further. These were genuinely some of the best biscuits & gravy I have ever had (sorry Nana!). The pancakes genuinely are "manhole covers" (see my picture of the chocolate chip one with a fork for scale)! My boyfriend and I split the country fried steak with a half order of biscuits & gravy, along with the aforementioned monster pancake. Everything was incredibly tasty, the pancake was cooked thoroughly and the chocolate chips were nicely distributed. The country fried steak was not breaded to hell and had a very nice flavor. The prices are honestly incredible for the amount of food, even though we shared, we had to take some home (probably good for our health). The staff are incredibly welcoming and polite. I can't wait to go back and get more.

I've been coming here for years, although it's been 20 years since my last visit. The foods still great and priced well, I will say they have down sized to my surprise. The only complaint that I can make it their lack of being tech savvy and offering credit cards, it's 2021. Come on Jim.

The food looks amazing, always. I just get the basics: scrambled eggs and now the gluten free toast. It’s yum!! Gonna have to try the gluten free pancakes, next!

Our new breakfast hideout! Incredible atmosphere, impeccable service, and food that meets even the toughest critics expectations. They don't take card so be ready with cash (atm on site), but you get plates fit for a king. Can't emphasize enough the gem this place is. Thank you for making our morning amazing🥰

We love eating here. The pancakes are HUGE. The food is terrific. The atmosphere is just a cozy little place. The kids are always entertained with a basket of toys. And the service is friendly. We like sitting on their outside tables. It's a regular for us when we visit.

The atmosphere here is great it feels like going into a small town diner! The food is amazing i had a half order of biscuits and gravey and a plain man hole size pancake. The biscuits are light and fluffy and good size pieces of sausage the pancake was huge but delicious!
