Rob Dob's Restaurant & Bar

I’ve visited Rob Dob’s a few times when in Bloomington. The service and food is always top notch. This past trip I ordered the Prime Rib and it was excellent. There was live music which really completed the overall atmosphere and experience. Highly recommend!

We have been at Rob Dob’s the past two weekends and have enjoyed the live music experiences both weekends!! This past Fri our waitress was unbelievable! The food was delicious! Excited to try the new items on the menu! Ed Clark was very talented on the piano! We look forward to catching him next time he is at Rob Dob’s! The atmosphere, service, and food are always what we’re looking for - beautiful, classy, and delicious! If you haven’t ever been to Rob Dob’s or haven’t been there lately I recommend you check it out soon!

Great service and great food. The calamari was delicious with a beautiful balsamic topping. The Brussels sprouts that people rave about were not at all what I expected;the candied bacon and Parmesan gave it a fantastic flavor but the breadcrumbs absolutely ruined the texture. It was a bit of a soupy mess with weird consistency.
The cheese curds were melt in your mouth wonderful! Loved the breading on those! The old fashioneds were delicious and strong enough to taste the bourbon but sweet enough to enjoy.
Main course was the Iowa filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection and served with a generous amount of butter on top (much appreciated!). Potato wedges were decent but a bit overcooked however my dining partner enjoyed them. Ceasar salad was very good and perfectly portioned.
Dessert we had the butterscotch bread pudding which came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and all I have to say is WOW! Needs one additional scoop of ice cream but the flavors were on point, it was hot and melted the ice cream and got EVEN BETTER! Just order the bread pudding, you won't regret it! The creme brulee was fantastic and garnished with fresh berries. A nice touch! Scraping the bottom of the dish we could see the real vanilla bean seeds. A sign of high quality ingredients! We are definitely returning for special occasions and cannot wait to try more items on the menu!
Wait staff were very attentive and kept our drinks refilled and pace of meal was perfect. We were surprised at speed of delivery of food and drinks to the table. We had a 5:30 reservation to beat the rush.

My husband and I took my in-laws here for their anniversary. We all really loved it! The food was fresh and delicious. I got the Smores drink. It was so good. We started off with cheese curds as the appetizer. I ordered the classic lasagna and my husband had the 16oz Ribeye medium rare. Not only was the food good, but the service was on point as well. We're definitely coming back again!

My husband ordered an old fashion, and I ordered an unsweet tea. My husband liked the old fashion. The tea was made of hibiscus flowers, so it was a bit different for me. My husband ordered steak and veggies instead of carbs. I ordered lamb and vegetables instead of carbs. Let me tell you all the lamb chops was one of the best I've had. My husband also truly enjoyed his steak. I had to bring two bones home to my furbabies they also truly enjoyed the lamb bones lol... thank you

We love Rob Dob's for a fancy date night or celebration dinner. The food never disappoints. I especially love the scallops and calamari.

This restaurant is kind of off the road a little bit, but it is worth finding. I should note that the menu did not have many items for people on a restricted diet like me, but my guests we're fully able to enjoy what turned out to be great food. The menu is primarily American cuisine, and I would describe the prices as somewhat upscale, without being out of the reach of the typical restaurant that serves steaks prime rib and other types of meals of that kind. Several of my fellow diners ordered a glass of wine, and they said that it was outstanding. It was a Pinot noir. The main courses my fellow diners ordered were steaks, and all of them were cooked quite properly, and the people said they were delicious. There is a bar which appeared to be well stocked, with televisions all around showing sports shows. The noise level was a little high for my taste, but I think most people are pretty much used to that. The was friendly and attentive, and the experience overall was quite pleasant. If you are looking for a somewhat upscale dining evening, I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

So far, so good! We just visited Rob Dobs for the first time, as our first post-quarantine date night. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was super good. I had the blackened catfish with shrimp/crab sauce and my husband had the NY Strip sandwich with potato wedges, and we started with calamari, which was so tender. I loved it all and recommend heartily. I think maybe this is just because things aren't fully open/operational yet, but I would have liked to have had more cocktail choices (there were only 6 cocktails on the menu when we visited).

Stopped St Patrick's Day. Sat at a table in the bar. Food was very good and service was excellent. Atmosphere was very comfortable. We will definitely stop in again.

Comfortable space, lunch time was quiet, wait staff were all kind. Had potato wedges, sausage penne, fried shrimp, meatloaf, and bread pudding. Each were fantastic. Baby friendly. The fireplace was warm, great for a baby!

Date night at Rob Dob’s was just what my husband and I were looking for! Prime rib special (Fri/Sat night only) was very good. My ribeye was on the thick side making it not quite as tender but still very good. We shared a French onion soup which was lovely and the spinach salad was one of the best I have had! Tony, our server, was the perfect combination of polite, attentive, and friendly. Food was served quickly and very appetizing. Atmosphere got a little knock down for us-personal preference against scary Halloween decor around the host area. Otherwise it is very classy and we liked being in the smaller room that was perfect for being able to chat on our date night while others could enjoy the live music if that is your thing. Definitely will be back!

Micah was our waiter he was fabulous!! Great atmosphere and experience. It was loud enough in there it drowned out my kids being loud. The food was fabulous. The au jus for the prime rib and creamy horseradish was super tasty. The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and good. My son's enjoyed the kids meals loved the chicken tenders and homemade ranch. The pretzel was like nothing I've tasted before it was like grilled and gave it a unique taste. My wife enjoyed a schnitzel dish off the octoberfest limited time menu and liked something different. The kids enjoyed their ice-cream that came with kids meal. For my son's birthday they offered him any dessert on menu he chose the octoberfest special German chocolate cake which was super moist cake with a rich frosting covered in coconut. Was a fabulous meal all the way around. If you have not been do not let all the cars in the parking lot scare you we thought the same with the kids but the place is huge with social distanced seating and all precautions followed so you can feel safe during covid. Do not miss out on this local gem of you are from out of town the chains you can find everywhere this is a one of a kind restaurant!

Had a wonderful meal here with family, and it was outstanding. The owner was a lovely woman. Her kindness and hospitality were second to none. The food, atmosphere, and service are exceptional. My gracious Aunt and Uncle take me here every time I visit, and Rob Dob's always delivers. Thanks for an amazing dinner.

Great service! Great food! Been there several times and have never been disappointed with either. (Service or food) Also, there wasn't a long wait. We'll certainly be back.

Great service and excellent food. The filet was very well cooked. The buffalo chicken sandwich was the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had. Looking for dessert? Get the cheesecake. Will definitely be going back.

We make it a point to stop here on our way both directions to Florida. The food is always excellent. We wish Rob's was a lot closer. Know you will always be on our stops and we always tell everyone we know about you.

First time and it was really nice. The service was great and the food was delicious as well. We didn't wait no time for our food! We'll be back!

Our meals were fantastic, as was the service! We made reservations, and at first the hostess was going to seat us in the area near the bar and there was live music playing. We love music and the band was great, we just weren't in the mood for the volume. No problem to seat us somewhere more quiet. Then we were graced with a wonderful waitress named Vanessa. Superb! From the suggestions and explanations of different options I was considering to recommending the spinach salad with the meal (ridiculously good!), we never wanted for anything. I can't recommend Rob Dob's enough!

great venue for breakfast. the staff is attentive and thorough. big shout out to the chefs and cooks. the food was well prepared and full of flavour. i would recommend and hope to visit again soon. l

My experience was fantastic. I ordered Buttermilk Fried Calamari & Ropp Cheese Curds appetizers, Charred New York Strip entree and Butterscotch Bread Pudding dessert. Everything was delicious and I love the atmosphere.
