We have lived on the east and west coast and overseas. Grassroots is the best used bookstore I have ever come across. They have an excellent selection of children’s books they are extremely well organized. Their classic section is great, but the real treasures are always found in their outdoor table sale…which is a daily thing! On Sundays you can fill a bag for only $5. I am a classics reader and lover of old books (I have an 1890 copy of Little Women I found at the outdoor sale), but they have everything, so everyone is sure to find something they will enjoy reading. This bookstore is what I will miss most about Reno when we move.

For $103, we just replaced the entire library for each of our kids with really good quality books in excellent condition! Definitely the best bookstore I've been to for families on a budget, and I'll be sure to visit every time I'm in Nevada! I'm so glad y'all exist! Thank you for being so kind to my kids, too. We're about to dig into some of these books for the trip back home.

I LOVE this bookstore. I live out of town and make sure I stop in every time I'm in Reno. Prices are hard to beat and they have a lot of variety including new and popular books. Amazing, amazing place ❤

Incredible prices, very well organized. They had several older scifi books that I've been looking for. Most used books are $2 or $4, new books are discounted off the sticker price. And the staff is very nice!

LOVE this store. I have been coming here sporadically for about 2 years and have always had a positive experience. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. The store is very clean and well organized. They keep a very current and relevant selection. They offer free tea all day and for first time shoppers you get a free book coupon. The prices are extremely reasonable and it’s a great place to offload old books. They buy what they can and otherwise you can donate the rest for their monthly warehouse sales or take them back home. You likely won’t make a lot off what you sell to them unless you have extremely valuable or current books, but people should understand that, books often don’t retain a lot of value. This is a place for people who love to read and the culture of it, so if you’re interested in the money aspect you can try your luck on eBay or another platform, but this is a very convenient option to give new love to your old books. Highly recommend a visit here!

I love to discover new bookstores when I travel. Grassroots Books has an amazing side walk sale that allows you to buy a bag full of books for $5. I found multiple medical gems for a fraction of the cost. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is no dedicated area for romance.

My favorite local book store. The prices can’t be beat, they carry new releases, they are open late enough to pop in after I get off of work, and the employees are always lovely and have great recommendations.

Awesome book store. I stop there on my way to costco. They have an awesome open air selection to the right of the store with hundreds of miscellaneous $1 books and some $0.25 children’s books. Inside the books are about $2 for a paperback and about $3.50 for a hard cover, unless they have price stickers on them. I found books for less than half the price I saw them at Barnes and Noble, and in essentially the same condition. Staff is always willing to help and patient

I went here before flying out of Reno and was sad I didn't allot more time to this place. I like the fact that all the Classics are in one area and are organized by author. I ended up picking up 5 books for $1.99 a piece. The cashier was incredibly welcoming and he mentioned there were more books outside for $1 a piece. So naturally after perusing the inside of the store I had to go outside around back to peruse the dollar books. I found a few hardcovers that I wanted to get but I wasn't sure if it was going to fit in my luggage so I had to leave them behind. I do really like looking through books, even when not organized because of the potential to find something great.

The staff has always been nice & curtious. Very helpful. The place is very clean, has a very accessable single restroom which is always clean even though it is for both men & women. If they don't have what you need they can usually order it new or if not, you can be put on a waiting list for it & they will call you when it is in. You usually have a week to pick it up.

Picked up two hardcover Dark Tower book today. I was floored by the price of them. This shop is amazing. I have never been so happy about buying a book, much less two. I got two of my favorites for less than a value meal at McDonald's. This shop is doing gods work.

I want to thank everyone there. Amazing people. Amazing selection. Amazing prices. Would give more stars if google allowed.

Definitely one of the best book stores I have ever been too, and we go to a LoT of them in many different states and towns. Prices were phenomenal, staff is very friendly. Used and new books but no shortage of both.

Love this place for what it is, a great book store! I like how I have been able to order special books and receive them ASAP. Customer service is usually always mid and seems selective. One thing that really caught me off guard on my last trip was the music playing. Really should revise the music.

Maybe the best used book store I've seen in years. Better than 95% of Half Price Books. Their 99 cent section is expansive. Their YA and Kids section is huge. Their prices are good enough to build a great collection for an affordable amount. Top notch.

Addicted to this place. Their outdoor sale is tables of books, shelves of DVDs and BDs.. everything's $1. For anyone with a rampant curiosity about life and the world it's paradise. Reno's book buffet. Never thought I could afford to read first editions, have found some treasures here for sure. Also the staff is excellent and can find anything for you. Best reason to dwell in Reno, thanks Grassroots.

I LOVE this place! Easton Press Classics for less than $20!! $1 book sale outside. Something for everyone. The Classics section is my jam. Some great deals to be found.

Dealership is across the street so if you’re getting work done this is a great place to stop in to burn some time.

Staff and service have always been good. Lot of variety and a must visit for bookworms.

I'm always on the lookout for fantastic bookstores and I can't believe it took me a year in Reno before finding this gem! I don't normally review places, but i just had to speak on this store!

It has a nice combination of used books and new books, and from my initial persual it appears that many of the used books are in great condition. The prices are honestly unbeatable (I bought 11 books and 2 graphic novels for around $120 dollars!!!). I can only speak on the fiction section (although they have a quite expansive nonfiction section as well), but I saw so many books that I've never seen at any other bookstore which was very pleasantly surprising.

Overall, I think this is a great gem for finding books for very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

Great selection, friendly people, and amazing parking. It's a shame that less used books are coming in, and more new books are getting pushed out, but the thrift is very nice. I know the selection is razor thin, but this will always be my first go to pick for a book.

This is where we go for our reading adventures. The staff are very helpful and friendly. If I can’t find a title I’m able to order it. The grandkids love browsing through the stacks and going outside for their discounted books.
