The staff is amazing and helpful. Being able to explore and learn about brewing has been fun. Love learning about the process of making wine\beer and tasting first hand how aging effects the flavor has been insightful. We've brewed here twice and looking forward to our next time.

They've got a great selection for beer brewing and the staff were quite helpful and is pet friendly too.

They had the exact parts and knowledge to help us fix our kegerator. I haven't taken any courses, but if you're interested in learning how to brew beer and such, this is your place. Great vibe all around.

Great shop has everything you need. I called once because I was stuck in the middle of brewing and needed supplies that I ran out of, and I think the owner waited for me after closing to get what I needed to finish up. Help support your local business and stop giving money to Jeff he has enough yachts.

My local homebrew store, I got into brewing from the Mr. Beer Kit that I bought online (if I remember correctly) which didn't turn out so well. Not too long after that, my wife got me the "Brew Your Own Beer" type package at Flying Barrel many moons ago and I've been homebrewing every since. They always have stock in of EVERYTHING you need, from grains, yeast, hardware, you name it! James and the staff are all super knowledgeable and always very welcoming to the savvy homebrewers or the novice ones just getting into the game. I Just picked up some supplies today for a brew day tomorrow. Cheers!!!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fair pricing. Good layout for a large order or just a 5 gallon batch. Have never taken any of the classes they offer.

I recently decided that I want to get into home brewing and found this little place. I had actually been to Monocacy Brewing Co. quite a few times without realizing what this place was. The Flying Barrel is a great place to pick up brewing supplies. I decided to take their "class" and brew a 5 gallon batch for the first time with no experience. Their people are very knowledgeable and take you through the brewing process from start to finish. Dan was especially cool and helpful. The 5 gallon IPA that I brewed yielded two cases and turned out pretty tasty. I will be back to try a porter, next time in a cornelius keg. Awesome place!

The staff is great answering questions about ingredients,recipes, and techniques. The supplies and selection of ingredients is awesome. Great place to go for your next brew.

This shop is super awesome came in with a beer I wanted to make but no clue how to do it. He guided me thru the process and made sure I had everything I need. He's super chill and will get you where you need to be!

Side note there's also the cutest pupper who lives here

Was at Monocacy brewery which had an amazing environment and delicious beer.

Just got into brewing recently and decided to visit The Flying Barrel. The prices were awesome. For example, I picked up a12 pack of clear wine bottles for only 15 dollars, half of the price compared to online retailers. The gentleman running the shop was very kind and knowledgeable.

Live music outside with tents and lights, plenty of chairs. No parking issues. Good variety of beers, well prices. Can have a bit of a line at times with only one register but moves pretty quickly. Tables in the back with chairs. Food truck out front. Would definitely come here again.

James is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable in many areas from the best equipment to use to brewing techniques. He was very helpful and patient with answering a of our questions! And his dog who is a shop mascot is very friendly and was great with keeping my young daughter occupied while I was shopping!

This place is awsome. Always has what I'm looking for. This trip they had better prices than Amazon for some of the items I was looking for. The customer service is top notch. Their staff goes the ex5ra distance to make sure your gett8ng what your asking for and need.

I haven't been in the Flying Barrel since they were over on Carroll St. This is a great space and they have a wide selection of goods to meet all your needs for home brewing and wine making. Just being in here brought back a lot of memories. James was a quiet but willing source of answers to our questions. My daughter is gonna try out the brewing thing. So we've got what she needs to get her feet wet, so to speak, right here at your friendly neighborhood brew supply store in Frederick MD.

We were here yesterday as part of a bachelor party. We had a blast brewing two different beers a west coast ipa and an Irish red. The staff was very helpful, passionate, and knowledgeable about the brewing process Can’t wait to drink them when they’re done fermenting.

Love this place. Beer & wine making on premise. Best supply of homebrew and home winemaking equipment and ingredients around. Owner is very knowledgeable of homebrewing and wine making and is a very nice person who enjoys his work. He just had a new.son named Grant. A more proud father I've never seen.
