Herrell's Ice Cream & Bakery

Absolutely delicious ice cream with great service! The employees are sweet and hardworking. The decorations are well themed and the interior is bright and colorful. Definitely would recommend to anyone in the area!

My husband was keen to get ice cream here, because he and his family were into it. When we got there the line was long, but I figured it would move fast since it’s ice cream, and it did! The place is a well-oiled machine. I had classic cookies n’ cream and it was great, it had a lot more cookie cream filling than cookies and creams I’d had elsewhere. I really enjoyed it! My husband had date almond halva and he was really into it.

Traveled from Florida to visit Family, we stopped by here for some delicious desert and the sizes are worth their price! All the ice cream is locally homemade and served with love. This store had a back entrance from Thorne's -- an underground shopping plaza (which goes up three stories). I enjoyed my visit to Northampton Downtown and Herrell's Ice Cream & Bakery.

Today, I got a small cookies & cream dish with rainbow sprinkles, and I took my delicious time with each bite with the wooden spoon that is provided. Great area and I would visit again next time I travel!!!

The place to go when you want to have fun eating ice cream just the way you want it, in cheerful surroundings. Very friendly staff. Full of teddy bears! Well worth making it a destination, any time at all!

For me, Herrell's is one of the few constants in a downtown Northampton life that has changed so dramatically - both for me and the town. These days, ice cream is not on my regular diet but when I am able to indulge I will be at Herrell's. It is wild to think I once applied for a job there, but I always liked the vibe there and post-college it seemed like a potentially nice option for a while, if it had worked out. I am especially partial to the double thick shakes, as well as the malted shakes. The creativity applied to the flavors, as well as consistent quality - it's pretty amazing that has held up for decades now in my experience.

Herrell's ice cream is a tradition in this traditional New England college town - and for good reasons. The ice cream is top quality and delicious. Maybe I could complain that there are too many appealing flavors, making it hard to choose. The centrally located shop is attractive, and the staff are friendly & helpful. Could I have another scoop, please?

Best dairy ice cream ever!! Though the vegan ice cream is definitely sub par (better than it was a year ago, but still not good), I’m not vegan so I’m still going with 5 stars because I love it

My partner had been hyping up this place for quite a long time. He can be a bit of an ice cream connoisseur, but he grew up in the area and even with many other creameries around, he said this was his favorite and most nostalgic one for him. He has the book written by Mr Herrell himself, and even had a t shirt for this place that he wore when he brought me here. I'm from the West Coast and this was my first trip to the East, but he had been telling me about this place the whole time we've been together. I was thinking it was just nostalgia and it being nearby him that he kept hyping it up to me, but boy was I wrong. For context, I typically like ice cream without all the added stuff like sprinkles, chocolates chips, cookies etc. I just want to enjoy the ice cream without the other things in it, unless it's maple, pecans or walnuts. I love those. Herrell's had many options and I couldn't choose. However, when I saw peanut butter, just peanut butter ice cream by itself which for me is damn near impossible to find, I had to try it. I love peanut butter. No added chocolate or nuts or Reese's pieces etc. Just plain peanut butter ice cream. Hands down, it actually was some of the best ice cream I've ever had. It was delicious, and most importantly, so thick and creamy. You could lick it and it will absolutely keep its form of where your tongue left it slicked up lol. My boyfriend even explained Herrell's method of creating ice cream of not over stirring or over whipping it so that it could keep its texture and creamy consistency. I tried his sweet cream flavor as well and a few others and they were all really good. This place is definitely one of my top places of favorite ice creams. Prices were great too and lots of indoor seating. They also have little baked goods on the side. 100/10 will be coming back here for sure my next trip out east.

Perfect !!👌🏽 that’s the word to describe the place!! They have a website where people can check on the flavors available before coming to the spot, which is awesome!! Their ice cream 🍦 are delicious by the way! There’s enough to welcome a good number of customers too.

Each time we visit Northampton we try to stop at Herrell's for what we consider New England's best ice cream. Herrell's is one of the several reasons we are relocating from eastern Massachusetts to Northampton in 2020. The last two visits to Herrell's it was Malted Vanilla for me. Wow!

We have enjoyed going to Herrell's to get delicious ice cream for years! For our daughter's birthday this year, we ordered a unicorn/rainbow ice cream cake. The cake was absolutely beautiful and super yummy - and everything our daughter could have hoped for. She kept telling us how much she LOVED it...made all of her birthday dreams come true!

Wonderful local ice cream and bakery shop, an icon in the area for.many years. I had black raspberry ice cream with oreos and fudge swirled in. Delicious!

We hired the Herrell's Ice Cream on the Moove Trailer for our wedding reception and it was a huge hit! We chose not to serve cake at all and no guest was complaining! They all loved the ice cream and everyone took full advantage. We were able to offer a variety of flavors and toppings and all of our guests enjoyed the unique idea. Judy was also quick to respond to emails and she remained flexible when the count of our event changed multiple times (due to COVID). We would highly recommend Herrell's for your next event!

A little expensive, but the ice cream is very smooth and somewhat stretchy -- that's how you know it's good ice cream. You don't taste the ice crystals or anything. A solid choice overall.

A very cute place. Leans on the pricier side for ice cream, but the quality and amount of different flavors makes up for that. Try the Redbull sorbet! So funny but actually really good

For the past ~15 years that I've lived in and close to Northampton, this place has only ever been amazing. A real gem of downtown Noho that proudly serves kosher and alternative options, does great work with UMass and the community, and gives you free ice cream on your birthday! Not to mention the creative flavors and constant innovation. I now live in Amherst but still bring every out of town visitor I get over to Noho for Herrells, and honestly being there in such a friendly, casual environment feels like a nice hug.

This is a must if you’re in NoHo! Burnt sugar and butter is a staple on the menu, while other options such as PB&J or butternut are in rotation. Definitely stop in and enjoy yourself. I lose all self control here... and I don’t even mind!
