Ugly Mug Diner

Really enjoyed brunch at this cafe!! The food was amazing — I had the eggs Benedict with salmon and are the whole thing! They also drew this cat on my chai latte. I can tell they really care about their customers and, though the wait outside was long, we were still able to eat at a reasonable time.

Ordered breakfast and picked it up around 8:30 am, my husband said it was pretty busy inside. I got the stuffed French toast with fruit and cream cheese inside, with the sweet potato hash browns. Large portion of food and it was delicious! My only complaint was the cream cheese kind of tasted like goat cheese to me which I'm not to fond of but I ate it all anyways lol. Will definitely eat here next time we come to Salem!

Super friendly staff. Came here twice during our stay in Salem— the first time was awesome and we loved our waitress, the second time our waitress was not very attentive despite there only being a handful of people in the restaurant. We ordered the blue plate special, french toast, breakfast burrito, and the scotch eggs. They excelled with the sweet breakfast items, the savory items weren’t quite as special in our opinion.

Visited here on my first trip to Salem! Breakfast and coffee was great! Home fries were good and my husband loved his breakfast! We had the big decision of this place or Red’s….Ugly Mug Diner did not disappoint. Would recommend to anyone visiting Salem.

This place is great if you visited Salem town.

Nice and chill vibe inside. Good music. The tables are not too crowded and have good space in between.

Staff and service are spot on. Everyone is very enthusiastic, pleasant, and professional. Shout out to our waitress TATIANA, a very sweet lady.

Food comes in large portions. Ordered huevos Ranchero, Cubano sandwich, and dueling hash Benedict. For drinks, we had a loud Lisa's sweet insomnia and nutella latte.

The place did not disappoint. Highly recommended :)

Very cool place! Expect a wait time in October (ours was about an hour), but there's plenty to look at while you wait. Their eggs Benedict was phenomenal!

Fun experience with awesome omelets and pancakes! Recommended to us by both tourists and natives. The wait was a bit long, so be prepared for that if you want to eat here - there are plenty of shops and the pedestrian walkway is right down the street to keep you occupied for that wait time!

Amazing! Huge cups of coffee! Great polite staff. Great food. Great stop along our travels in Salem. And yes they have ugly mugs! They even take donations. Wish we lived closer. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Had the seasonal breakfast, absolutely fantastic! Complimented the boozy beverages well. The only downside is the house coffee was not great, but I should have gotten a latte or something else. Service was great as well.

We went twice for breakfast while in Salem. Friendly and fast service, many items to choose from, coffee is great. Service is great as well. I wouldn't necessarily recommend big parties as they have mostly 4 tops and counter sitting, but they are able to accommodate large groups, just nake sure your party is ready, and be prepared to wait because they were full both times we visited.

Great atmosphere and amazing food. The cuban sandwich was very good, the fries were fresh and hot. Service was nice too!

Great little diner, and very LGBTQ friendly. How many diners actually offer scotch eggs?!?!??! Excellent. The home fries were a bit undercooked but whatever. My wife loved their coffee with 500 overly sweet ingredients.

My husband and I are regulars. We keep going because everyone is always super kind and friendly, and the food is always on point!

If you’re in the mood for breakfast I highly recommend this place. We went on Friday the thirteenth towards the end of breakfast service and our waitress was very friendly, food delicious!

Great food and great service. Mostly standard diner breakfast fare, but they have fried green tomatoes (and often interesting specials). I'd go more often if they didn't always have a long wait on weekends (an unfortunate consequence of being good).

This was probably one of the best dinners I've been too in a long time. The staff were amazing, very attentive and friendly. The food was phenomenal, we went on probably one of their busiest days, Halloween, the line was wrapped down the block and still they were amazing and we didn't feel rushed at all. It was so good we went back again 2 days later and they even remembered us after serving so many people. Props to the ugly mug and staff, y'all are amazing and the food was fantastic! I'll definitely be eating here next time I'm in Salem!

The breakfast poutine with red eye gravy and sweet potatoes! This was my last meal on the way out of town and it didn't make leaving any easier. 😅 10/10 diner that knows DETAILS (they sliced, buttered, and GRILLED the biscuits! 😍). I can't wait to go back and will think of it often until I can.

My friends and I came on memorial day and have nothing negative to say about the Ugly Mug. Food was amazing, service was fabulous! I am also so picky when it comes to my chai lattes and French toast, and they have the best homemade chai that I've had in years, and I finished my plate so fast. A++ 💯
