The portion sizes are tremendous, the wine is delicious, the service was SUPERB!
Alice (I believe that was her name - she had beautiful purple hair if that rings a bell) was our server. She was timely and kind.
Our portions were huge! We had leftovers with takeout boxes. Without even asking, a gentleman opened up a to-go bag as we were about to leave the door so we could carry the to-go boxes all together. I was so surprised by this service! Very observant.
The scenery was great - with a beautiful view of the ferries.

This was a great spot for the island. The food was tasty and nice portions. I had the lobster roll. The people I sat with had brussel sprouts, fish and clam chowder soup. If you're on the island I definitely recommend.

Family lunch on the vineyard, 10/10 recommend! We sat outside which was nice, the server we had was really nice but busy so she didn’t have time to meet and greet. We waited about 10 minutes once seated until she was able to come over to take our drink order, she also took our food order and we saw her again after everyone was done eating to give us our tab. The other servers were nice and refilled waters as they saw low glasses which was really nice of them. The tuna melt was great, I ordered it without tomatoes and bacon but with lettuce and onions so I enjoyed it. We also ordered the chowder which was pretty good, and the croutons surprisingly went well opposed to oysters. The watermelon lemonade alcoholic beverage was also really good.

Very relaxed outdoor seating or view seating inside. We were fortunate to have window seating and enjoyed the great view. I ordered mussels. They were good but I’m from a coastal town and like the sauce/flavor of mussels better at restaurants at home. Husband ordered fish and it was great. Friendly staff but when my husband tipped over his entire glass of wine (that he had saved til end of the meal), the waitress did not offer a new glass or take it off the bill. You would think she would’ve done one or the other because it was a full glass.

My friends and I really enjoyed our visit here. It's so charming and cozy from the outside in. Service was quick, and the food was delicious. The clam chowder is sooooo good and I love how they serve it! They have really good cocktails too! I'm so glad we stopped by.

Once we finished lunch, we walked through the cute quad area for a photo opp. I bet this will be so nice in the summer to enjoy food outside and a round of corn hole with friends. We couldn't leave without stopping at the shops and grabbing some souvenirs. The shop lady was so sweet and helpful. She had a brave little foster dog guarding the place when we first walked in who warned of our intrusion into his safe space. He's a good boy.

This place is a definite must stop when at Martha's Vinyard. I look forward to visiting again!

Fresh seafood, attentive, welcoming staff!!!

Stopped for lunch on our first day in the island per our hotel manager’s recommendations. Great atmosphere but more importantly our lobster roll was fresh and delicious, same for my husband’s sandwich, we really enjoyed our meal. Staff friendly and checked on us frequently to make sure all was ok. Prices reasonable. Looking forward to returning again soo.

This was my 2nd time visiting here and I enjoyed the food very much. The clam chowder was advertised as best on the island and I will say out of the clam chowders I had between cape cod and MV it was the best. Sample size is about 7.

Last year I had the warm lobster roll and this year I had the cold lobster roll. I was impressed with both but still not sure which one I would prefer. I will admit both were worth it. It was $42 as of July 2023. They have a lot of good food on the menu besides the lobster roll so I highly recommend the place for overall menu.

My boyfriend took me to this restaurant and insisted I try their best-voted clam chowder…boy, I was NOT disappointed. I almost asked for seconds! I am definitely coming back again and getting seconds!
I also liked sitting right next to the ocean and seeing the ferry coming in and out, and it was a lovely sight.

Our favorite spot to dine when visiting the Vineyard! They have multiple locations, but our favorite is on Vineyard Haven! They offer outdoor seating, as well as indoor with beachfront views where you can watch the ferry come and go. Amazing cocktails and a bar, large menu selection with something for everyone, cozy and nostalgic, this is an iconic part of Martha’s Vineyard.

You can visit the neighboring Black Dog store and Black Dog bakery! No trip to the Vineyard would be complete without visiting the Black Dog. Conveniently located close to the ferry to and from the island, they also have an area outdoor to play corn hole and adjacent to the restaurant you can set sail on the sea aboard the Black Dog tall ships.

For those visiting from out of town, there is a whole story behind the popular Black Dog chain. We highly recommend the pesto chicken ciabatta sandwich, paired with truffle fries.

A great place for breakfast! Sometimes the standard breakfast at a legendary place was all what you need. The place overlooks the water or bay. Simple yet extraordinary place to eat. It was not even overpriced too. We came early so no lines and we got to select the place to sit. After we were done we walked around all the Black Dog stores which was nice to relax after a hearty meal. Easy parking, staff were great and nice view.

Stopped here for lunch for Labor weekend . Staff is very helpful and everyone is taking good precautions during Covid times. Tables are arranged at a safe distance and they have limited indoor outdoor seating capacity too. Food is good too.
I loved their lemonades. They were very fresh. We ordered different egg and fish dishes and all of them were very delicious.

Good lunch spot close to the ferry terminal. Not any specific gluten-free items the menu mentioned so I just got a cheeseburger with no bun. The house made ginger beer is very good. The mussels came out cold somehow. The fries were crispy and the beet salad was good.

Really great experience here! Me and my dad wanted outdoor seating. They didn’t have the staffing for it but they were so accommodating. They suggested getting takeout that we could eat at the picnic tables in front facing the water. They were able to serve us wine and beer still and brought our takeout to our table. The food was amazing! We got clam chowder, garlic encrusted cod, and steak tips. All of it was so delicious, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Thanks for a great evening!

Walked here right from the Vineyard Haven ferry drop off. We waited about 10 mins or so for a table for 4. Ordered a bottle of Prosecco and a mix of sandwiches. I was impressed by the salmon BLT. We all raved about the fries and gushed about the wooded cabin atmosphere! Loved dining here!

The stores were a little pricey, but the merchandise appears to be made very well!!! Frank was the best in the store!!! The food was phenomenal...and our server...she was the best also! Great people! Great atmosphere! Would definitely go back to Martha's Vineyard to Blackdog restaurant, bakery, and merchandise!! Also had the best Cabbie on the island...he can give you tours on a private level and go places the bus tours cannot go! Extremely friendly, down to earth, and the best service!!!

The Black Dog Tavern is a very aesthetically pleasing rustic style restaurant located right on the water. The ambiance is very relaxed, with music playing and the sound of food cooking in the background (in an exposed kitchen). We ordered the Mezza plate as an appetizer, which was light and tasty. We ordered the Crab Cake Sandwich and the Steak Tips & Fries for entrees. The food was excellent and fresh. Great service, great experience all around.

Love this place! Cool restaurant right on the water with great views of the ferry coming in and out of port as well as other boats in harbor. Food was excellent! Chicken salad sandwich was delicious (homemade chicken salad)! Highly recommend!
