Mikado Asian Bistro

I recently dined at Mikado, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a delightful meal. The restaurant exudes cleanliness and attention to detail, creating a comfortable environment for diners.

The service at Mikado was truly outstanding. The staff was attentive, courteous, and entertained conversation, I sat in the bar area, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were prompt in taking orders and ensured that everything was to my satisfaction.

One of the highlights for me was the soothing background music that enhanced the overall ambiance. It created a relaxing atmosphere, allowing me to savor my meal in a peaceful setting.

I opted for the floral green tea, and I must say, the flavor is delightful! The tea had a subtle, yet distinct, floral note that complemented the meal perfectly.

As for the main course, I chose the Kung Pao chicken, and it didn't disappoint! The dish was expertly prepared, with the perfect balance of spicy and savory flavors. The chicken was tender, and the accompanying vegetables were fresh and crisp, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to quality ingredients.

Overall, my visit to Mikado was a memorable one, thanks to its excellent service from Cindy, pristine environment, inviting ambiance, and delicious offerings. I would highly recommend this restaurant to future visitors seeking a top-notch dining experience.

The food was great and the staff were all friendly. We had a relatively large group and they were able to seat us immediately. The food was delivered very promptly and we were kept replenished with liquids throughout our meal. I wasn't going to get a dessert but I ended up splitting the Fried Cheesecake with a friend. It. Was. So. Good! If you've never had fried cheesecake, I highly recommend it! The Chocolate Cake was delicious as well (I had to try a bite!) but don't expect traditional cake. It's more like a chocolate ganache throughout. Very rich and decadent! I hope to visit again!

Someone recommended this place and they didn't disappoint. The service wascok but the food was amazing very lovely establishment as well. I will definitely recommend and return.

A wide variety of Asian cuisine for the menu and is open year round on the island! Great customer service! Great ambiance and vibes at the restaurant. I really enjoyed the chicken wings and sushi that were ordered. The fish is good quality and fresh! My favorite was the spicy scallop hand roll! Everything is on point and highly recommend. Spacious dining area. There is street parking and within walking distance to other retails and beautiful view in the area. I highly recommend!

The food and the staff are excellent! The menu is extensive and it's a fun atmosphere. They give forks when you ask no glares or anything. We went back to Vineyard Haven location twice. The food even repeats in the microwave well. Nice sturdy to go containers too. Love this place

Wow the attention to detail here...Not just sushi a experience to be remembered when in Vineyard Haven. The food is delicious and the full service bar doesn't disappoint. I highly recommend this open year round place to eat..

Pricey but excellent food, presentation as well. Staff is nice and attentive. Large selection of both Japanese, Chinese as well as some fusion dishes. Small drink list but overall very good. Good for everything but families. Would definitely go back.

Mikado is a great spot on a cold winter day - their miso soup is delicious and their sushi is fresh! They have very spacious seating, and very safe indoor dining. Great meal with friends!

We love this place, especially if you're craving something other than typical MV food. The food is excellent, nice and quiet environment and get the sushi boat, beautifully decorated! We like the Chinese food so much that we rate it as highly as our NYC favorite neighborhood spot. Good for couples, families, a large group. And, the service is great, food comes out nice and hot and we'll presented.

I've never had a bad meal here. I usually order takeout. My order has never been wrong or missing anything. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The food is exceptional. There's something different about it, in a good way.... it's hard to explain, but you know how all Chinese food kind of tastes the same no matter where you go? Well not here. It's like how my mind remembers and wants Chinese food to be - highly recommend this restaurant.

Sushi and sashimi combo is fresh and good price.

Loved the spicy tuna sushi, Wonton soup and chicken lettuce wraps.

one of the best asian restaurants i have ever eaten at, my favorite roll was the vineyard haven roll. the raw fish was super fresh and tasted amazing! super delicious and would definitely recommend and go to again!

LOVE Mikado! Despite laungae barrier they always provide amazing meals and exactly to my liking! I enjoy stuff hot .....warning do not ask for something to be 5 STAR SPICY, UNLESS u mean it!

I've heard good things about Mikado but hadn't tried it until just this past week. There aren't too many options on a Monday night off-season in Vineyard Haven so we were happy to find that Mikado does a great job with their sushi.

I didn't take pictures as their take-out plating isn't show-stopping but I will say I liked the containers they use.

We ordered the Shrimp Shumai and Pork Gyoza appetizers. While my dinner companion didn't care for the Shumai much, I thought both were good.

The sushi rolls we ordered were the Spicy Tuna (chopped tuna mixed with tempura flakes, tobiko, scallions and spicy mayo $9), Spicy Shrimp (chopped steamed ginger shrimp w/ tempura flakes, tobiko, scallions, and spicy mayo $9), Alaska (salmon, avocado, and cucumber $9), and Golden (shrimp tempura & avocado, w/ sliced mango on top and mango sauce $18).

The Spicy Tuna was different than most as they do chop it all up so it's more of a mash; it didn't taste any less flavorful but it is a different-looking presentation and taste experience.

The Spicy Shrimp sounded interesting since it's steamed shrimp with ginger. I expected a bigger ginger flavor but was able to add a bit of marinated ginger to give it that extra kick I was hoping for.

The Alaska roll was good...nothing special but it didn't fall short of my expectation.

The Golden roll is something we always look for on a menu: a roll with mango. This one did not disappoint. The shrimp tempura was spot on and the was mango ripe and fresh. If I had to come up with something negative to say about this roll would be that it's a bit slippery with the mango making it a bit hard/messy to eat. That's hardly a shortcoming though!

If you read through the reviews, you'll some weren't happy with their meal or their experience. I don't understand those as we were quite happy with our take out and will be ordering from them again soon.

Amazing experience! Came here to celebrate seeing our Moms for the first time in a year. A very welcoming and beautifully lit place. Super enjoyable and nice service.

spend 2 hours here eating Manchurian lobster. worth every penny. sushi rolls are incredibly well stuff with fish, very fresh and they really put a lot of work into presentation here. big fan. planning on coming here for just sushi before leaving the island.
