We have been thoroughly pleased with the level of care given to a family member who needs round the clock care. There is a traumatic brain injury unit here who's focus on treatment is second to none.

My 45 year old sister was sent to this facility for recovery after surgery (acute wound care). She has a mild form of cerebral palsy, was in considerable pain, weak and could not move around well on her own.

"Human dignity is harmed by unfair treatment premised upon personal traits or circumstances which do not relate to individual needs, capacities, or merits." The "caretakers" in this place do their best to make certain you've none left. No human decency. No human dignity. They will demean and degrade you until you believe that you are nothing.

She woke up in the middle of the night to her clothes being removed. Two people removed her clothes, her sheets, replaced her sheets, and laid a hospital gown over her. Then they left, leaving the door ajar. No one explained to her what was going on. No one said "We are going to change you now, because ..."

Horrifying!

I requested the nurse come check my sister's blood sugar. She is a juvenile diabetic. It took two hours for the nurse to show up. Thankfully, I hadn't waited on the nurse because when I checked it myself, her blood sugar had dropped to 40.

I had to go get some depends to put on her because she couldn't get help to the restroom, and it took her so long to get there on her own she didn't quite make it.

This place is a filthy nightmare. It's like stepping back into 1970's healthcare. No fresh air circulating. In order to change the temperature in the room you have to push the entire metal box off the register (approx 2'x4' panel). It's like a cheap motel room from the early 70's. No private shower facility, only one shower in the hallway for all to share. The chairs for guests smell like old urine. The floor looks as if it has never been cleaned.

Don't leave your loved one alone in this place.

It's a nightmare from which you can't escape. They do their best to hold you there as long as they can, even after your doc says you can leave! 3 hours for the nurse, 6 hours for the discharge paperwork, etc. etc. After sitting there for HOURS trying to get out of this hellhole, her son said "I need to get to work, my time is valuable, you know?" The nurse's response "You should be ashamed. You are a BAD SON." (He is a senior at U of L Speed School, working and going to school. Yep. Sounds like a bad, bad son.)

WHY are these places allowed to stay in business? Be warned!

I worked out there through agency and Alligance Healthcare never paid me my money even though I have my time slip and I clocked in .Definitely taking action.
