Diamond in the rough! Frankfort avenue restaurants rarely disappoint, and this was no exception. Food was great. We had the drunken fries, beer battered onion rings, and the buffalo wings. Onion rings could have a little more onion in my opinion, but still had good flavor. Everything else was great! Can't wait to try more items on the menu. Recommended for people traveling, just watch for the limited parking, which is expected in the area. Also, great customer service, even at 3pm !

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch for the first time and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It was fairly busy when we got here but we still received an immediate greeting and prompt service. Regardless of the crowd, the two servers/bartenders that were working were hustling and attending to each of their customers with a smile and positive attitude. For food, we ordered the French onion soup, the Reuben, buffalo wings, onion rings and fries. I can say that we were very impressed by the speed and the quality of each item. The Reuben paired with the French onion soup was absolutely amazing and the onion rings were the perfect ratio. The wings were tender with the perfect amount of crisp on the skin. We also ordered the tavern spritz and the strawberry martini which were beautifully made and topped our meal off perfectly. I highly recommend for food quality and service.

Wife and I stopped in today 2/5/24. We ordered 2 Knocker Burgers which came with fries. I ordered 5 wings on the side. The burgers were remarkable and the wings surprisingly good. Lee up the good work in

Almost all of my experiences there: I have been dining at and getting carry out from this location and the one in Old Louisville for over a year now. Delicious!! They have some of the best BBQ & ranch I've ever had! If you want a top shelf burger or anything fried this is my recommendation for Louisville. The Frickle Spears, Chicken Tenders, Fish and Chips and Hush Puppies are great. Looking forward to trying a few of their pasta dishes sometime soon. Chill tavern feel with quick and good service. Loveee this place!!

Today's experience there: Today we got the beer battered onion rings to split. They were sweet and spicy at the same time. Maybe a little too much cayenne? Crunchy on the outside, but a little mushy on the inside. Not my expectation of beer battered onion rings. The service was a little lackluster today. The fish and chips that my boyfriend got today were so salty that they were almost inedible.. We both love salty things, even overly salty depending on what it is. When I say almost inedible, I am not exaggerating. This was the most salty thing I've ever tasted. The hush puppies were like rubber today. The breading was so chewy and the inside was super dry. The Scotty Stack was disappointing to say the least, the truffle fries included. I won't pay extra for those again. Regardless, this is the only bad experience I've had and I'll still go back to get items that I've always enjoyed without issue.

Delicious food and drinks. Very welcoming and friendly. The fried pickel spears were so good. Fish and chips was a generous portion. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked.

Delicious 😋 food, and beer. I had a Guinness. The patty and we 6 people enjoyed the big booth. The Saturday was light and not a crowded place. Enjoy the waterfuls.

Had the fish and chips! Highly recommended. The portion sizes are huge! Others had the Buffalo chicken sandwich all delicious! The place had a nice chill vibe...great place to sit and have a few cold ones while watching the game.

Tried it for the first time. Got the Chorizo Sausage & Gravy to split to see how it was, FANTASTIC. Such an amazing flavor.

Got the breakfast with French Toast, Eggs and Sausage. This was the best breakfast I have had in a while. The Sausage spice and French Toast compliment each other so well.

This was my first visit at Hillcrest Tavern and the service was Great as well as the atmosphere and the food was VERY VERY good. I will definitely return here again.

The food was so good. The mushroom fries are the best in town. The fish was good also. Good place to eat.

I am not a wing person....more of a boneless wing person-its a texture thing, but these wings are perfectly cooked!! I haven't had anything to eat here, that I didn't love.

I drove by this place a million times, finally went there on a whim and wasn't the least bit disappointed. Food was great, I had the sliders w fries. Fresh and hot. My wife had a cheesesteak and some battered portobello mushrooms and she was very happy w those also. The prices are good and the drinks are very well made. We will definitely be going back.

Who doesn’t love a neighborhood - walkable restaurant? Perfect service, we like being near the bar and had a table for two nearby. My steak was ordered medium - and it arrived MEDIUM!! But don’t go here for a just a steak, that was just me that night (so good!). Try the fried chicken salad, the wedge salad (great bleu cheese dressing), any mac and cheese, and my fav - WINGS! Looking around, this is perfect for large parties, small parties, children, and dogs outside!

One of the best in Louisville! We stopped here on a whim and are not disappointed! Nikki our waitress is so sweet and kept up with our family of 6. We ordered kids meals(huge portions) steak and cheese, old Louisville dip and pretzels with beer cheese appetizer ( highly recommend this). I loved the loaded lemonade and their old fashioned is totally up there with the best I’ve had. Stop by you will love it 💕
