Handsome Fellows Barber Shop - St. Matthews

I have been going to Handsome Fellows since the St. Matthews location opened. Originally started with Zack until he moved away and then I set an appointment with Adelaide and have been going to Adelaide monthly for nearly two years. I have always experienced great service. Always make sure I am satisfied with my cut and I have never been disappointed.

Additionally, the atmosphere is friendly and the shop is spotless. Couldn’t recommend a better place!

I love the Handsome Fellows Barber shops! So 4 years ago I decided to cut all my hair off and visited the Middletown location even though I didn't get an entire cut there I did appreciate the visit. Today I booked my son a visit with JT at the St Matthew's location. Not only is he super funny but did an amazing cut on my 5 year old. Couldn't have asked for better. I watched everyone in there and they were all really great at what they do. Book with anyone and enjoy the clean relaxed atmosphere (and good music) while you're there. 🌟

Fantastic. The difference between going to an actual Barber and places that just provide haircuts is such a wide gulf. Going someplace that cares for and takes the time to style your head is great.

I've gone to a number of barber shops in my life- I got to say this is at the top of my list.

This is more expensive than your typical roll-the-dice on what you end up with chain barber shop. But as they say, you get what you pay for

The place was clean and a stylish mix of old school and hip. I was welcomed as soon as I stepped in. I decided to go all out on my first visit, haircut, premium beard trim, and even ear and nose waxing (the waxing wasn't painful, but not something I would do on most visits)

I was lucky to get Zack (though I am pretty sure the other barbers would have been wonderful as well). He did a consult on what I wanted and made a few suggestions I agreed to without question.

He took his time with the cut and paid attention to detail resulting in one of my better haircuts. Then he trimmed my goatee and mustache.

Then we got to the good part- the shave- wet towels and straight razor. There is nothing better than this kind of shaving experience and if you've not tried it you are missing out.

As I said the ear and nose waxing wasn't as exciting as the rest, but the rest was worth it.

Bottom line, I found my new barber.

After several years at another local barbershop I decided to try out the new St. Matthews location. Ryan has consistently provided top notch and consistent service both with my haircut and beard trim. I’ve already gone ahead and scheduled out my cuts for the year with him, which is another advantage over my previous place, the ability to schedule and reserve a time. Definitely recommend!

Great guys! They did an awesome job on my haircut and got to me right away even though I was a walk in.

JT was awesome with our 22 month old boy! I was very impressed with how patient, calm and collected he was. Toddlers can be stressful but JT made it seem effortless. A view with trains and cars sure help.

There’s nothing this shop doesn’t do well. Easy to book a cut, convenient location, clean and friendly. I see Chaz for a cut when I go. Chaz is great at his craft and takes extra care to get to know you and how you like your cut. He won’t let you walk out until it is perfect. He’s the man. So glad they moved into the neighborhood.

I was looking to trim my wild covid beard as well as a haircut. They had a nice clean facility as well as a friendly staff. I liked the fact I could make an appointment and was allowed the time to get my hair like I wanted.

Just left this barbershop and got a beard trim. I’m a bald guy and haven’t been to a barbershop in 20 years - I will never try to trim my own beard again. J Givans trimmed my beard and made me look like a million bucks. Everything lined up perfectly. I’m beyond happy with the results and already booked another appointment. Relaxed environment yet very professional. J was very laid back and easy to talk with. I asked a hundred questions about beards and they were all answered with patience. 11/10 recommend.

Great place for a haircut and shave. Laid-back atmosphere. Only thing would be better is being able to get a beer while you are waiting for your barber. Jay Givens is who I see and he is great. Thanks again for a great shave and trim.

This was my first time going here after having been to many other hair salons and quick cut places in the area. Very clean and a nice environment with all pleasant staff. Sarah did a phenomenal job working with what my current style was to augment it and make it even better all with professionalism, communication, and pleasant conversation. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going to Handsome Fellows for about 18 months or so. I’m thoroughly impressed with all the people who have cut my hair with the each barber taking the time to assess and listen to my desired hair cut and to also make recommendations. The thing I like most is just going. I enjoy the “guys” atmosphere of an old fashion barber shop with a 21st century twist. Another thing I enjoy is building relationships with the barbers who cut my hair. Ryan (the owner) has built a solid business with Handsome Fellows… Give ‘‘em a try and you won’t be disappointed!!

2/17/22 Update: I have gone to Sarah for my haircut many times now and she is still by far the best barber I've ever had! Her skills are excellent and she's also friendly, caring, and thoughtful. Trust me, if you are hesitant about paying $10 more than you would at Great Clips (or any other chain), just get a haircut from Sarah once and you'll never want to go anywhere else!

Today was the first time since I moved to Louisville several years ago that I'd gone somewhere else other than Great Clips for a haircut. I made an appointment online earlier this week, and they sent me a few reminders which was helpful. Sarah was my stylist and she did an amazing job! My hair can be stubborn and difficult to work with, but she skillfully and patiently cut my hair exactly the way I had envisioned it. It was helpful to have her talk me through each step and explain what she was doing. Sarah also offered suggestions on how I could style my hair along with what products might work best.
The price might appear surprising to some who are just used to going to a chain barber shop like myself, but I think it is very fair for the convenience, neat atmosphere, and excellent service you receive (it includes a neck shave as well!).
I'm glad I visited this location today because I left with the best haircut I've ever had!

Best place to get a hair cut Chaz is my go to guy for a beard clean up and a dope skin fade!

Very good experience. Due to needing a new barber, I went with this place on a whim and it turned out to be a great decision. Chaz has cut my hair twice now and has done a phenomenal job. I found my new spot. No scheduling issues. The St Matts location is a clean/cool spot and I'd recommend it to anyone. Would also recommend Chaz to anyone. A capable barber who cares and takes his time in order to make sure his client is happy

This is my favorite barber shop hands down. They do an excellent job with care and attention to detail. Barbers are kind and friendly. I usually go to Middletown location which is great also. I have tried a few barbers out and they all do great work but my go to for Middletown is Adam Barr and at St. Matthew’s, Michael does a great job and is super cool. Highly recommend. Great environment, great barbers, reasonable price.

Great place to get a haircut and a beard trim. If you go to get your beard trimmed ask for Michael he does an amazing job every single time. It is a very family Friendly enviroment and lots of knowledge and experience in all types of hair throughout the whole place.
