We have lived down the street for almost a year now and finally decided to stop in for some food.
And let me tell you, my fiance and I were blown away with how good the food was. I honestly expected just some average bar food, but it far surpassed our expectations. The service was great and everyone was so friendly as well. Very clean environment and an overall great experience. We will absolutely be going back! 10/10 recommend.

OUT OF TOWN REVIEW -
While traveling down to Tennessee from Ohio our party stopped in Louisville for dinner. We weren't prepared to find this gem ! The first thing we noticed was the tight knit welcoming vibe as you walked in. The two young gentlemen behind the bar (possibly brothers ?) were super welcoming. The menu was unique and fun . The food was amazing. The tots were crisp, burgers juicy and melt in your mouth , they have a chocolate milk drink that will have you wanting more. All the community events were posted leaving us all agreeing we'd have to stop back up on the trip home. On our second trip stopping back we actually got to see some classical music playing love which was incredible . The food held the same amazing standard. The whole vibe was amazing and felt like setting out of a movie. Definitely the place to stop if you're passing thru !

My daughter suggested we try this spot. The food was excellent as well as the service. We had the soft pretzel sticks and cheese. Super tasty! My mom and daughter both had the Mac and cheese. It was really good. I had the Reuben, which was amazing. The tots were amazing as well. I got two non tot eaters to share them with. I think they would have stole them they are that good 🤣. The tots were super crispy and salted just right. We will definitely be back again. Thank you from three fellow Kentuckians.

For a person in the local theatre community, Bard is a staple. A home away from home. And a place that has never been afraid of showcasing new and upcoming artists.

Interesting place for the right person. Went in to grab a beer and maybe some college football. Instead had a few drinks and watched a Disney movie. Prices were decent and drinks were strong.

Good food, incredible environment. I got to enjoy a live string quartet while drinking beer and eating a burger. Great spot for a date night or a relaxing night out.

I have been here a few times to see local comedians work on their material. Always a good time. The nachos were to die for. Legit surprised on how good they were. The bartender was very down to earth and took great care of us ladies. Would highly recommend. I'll definitely be back soon

My first time visiting here where me and my family went to The Bard's Town to see their play, 'The King's Christmas'. An absolute brilliant play, it was hysterical. The actors do an amazing job and are incredibly funny.

They host various other events, which is great if you're looking for something different to do with with friends or family.

The food and beer were also very good and catered to meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans. Very accommodating to multiple diets. All in all, a fantastic place to have a grand time! Look forward to going again.

A fun place, with team trivia night Wendsday at 8 pm. Winners get their food comped, and teams as large as six are allowed. Go check it out! Decent food and bar menue. I had lolly pops .... it's a beef tip appatizer with fries , horseradish sauce.

It's an old place, quite run down... But that's the charm of it! It's a great theater atmosphere with local acts of many. The food is good as well. It's a good place just to come for a dinner.

I play music here about six times a year. This is nice, neighborhood bar with an artistic bent. They have stages throughout and they feature productions of all types, including Classical Revolution, a sort of Classical music open mic night. The food is terrific and the beer selection is quite good. I highly recommend this place.

Love this venue. Old time comfort and a great place to catch a show. The servers are wonderful.. Especially when serving during a show. The menu items are large servings and reasonably priced.
My only complaint is the very steep staircase to get to the upstairs theater.

Pretty calm atmosphere. Service was really good, guy knew what I needed before I did. Had a great attitude, which is something considering his job. Service work isn't easy.

The band playing was great. Wanted to tip but I never have cash on me. Food was really good, had the black bean burger.

Great bar, great food, and the staff couldn't be much better! Small shows in the upstairs, Louisville Jazz Society has music in the little room on the main level about once a month~~that's well worth checking out, too! Would highly recommend!

We really enjoyed this place. We didn't get the opportunity to check out the theatre or try any drinks, but we did get to try out the food. It was really good, and not badly priced for what we got. The service was awesome - attentive and friendly but not overbearing. We went on the night before Derby, and there were some diners who were obviously financially well off - the type of people that waiters would be tempted to give preferential treatment to. This was not the case here though. We were well taken care of. We will be back to eat again and check out some of the acts.

I really like this bar. Tonight we're enjoying live music with our cocktails and dinner. If you are looking for a good time and delicious food, you can't go wrong at "The Bardstown". The Highlands area is worth going out of the way. Very friendly staff and great service.

This is a fantastic venue to see local theatre, live music and comedians.
The food is always fresh and delicious and the menu descriptions are ironically titled to fit the Shakespearean theme. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well as a kids menu.

If you want a fun night out in Louisville this is a great option. That’s especially due to the ideal location on Bardstown rd, there’s so many fun places to discover on that strip.

Doug Schutte manages to perform and direct in the shows while also running the kitchen and bar; it’s pretty remarkable!

This is an establishment I visit weekly for trivia. The food is always fantastic, not only for a bar, but for restaurants in general. The friendly staff, wonderful eats, and numerous events make this a Louisville classic.

Highly recommended, especially the mac and cheese.
