Mi Viejo Carrollton

I have to admit that I went there, not expecting much. As it turns out, I had a very good NY Strip Steak, it was tender and done exactly medium as I ordered. The salad was cold, crisp and fresh. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you're in the Carrollton area, I recommend this place.

Not from around here and was lookin for some good mexican food for dinner and was tryin to decide between this place and another closer the hotel. I asked the girls at the hotel and they said this place for sure and man they were not wrong. Wow was I impressed and completely satisfied. If ur in town and lookin for some good mexican food and quick and friendly service please stop by and check em out cuz u will be satisfied.

Sept; dinner here tonight was excellent, their Mi Viejo queso dip is so good! Can get jalapeno or habanero, habaneros were hot tonight lol, as was the lava bowl it's served in - dip was still boiling 10 to 15 minutes after it was served. Service tonight was not is awesome as usual, believe perhaps the server was new and he was not real efficient with English either.
Feb 2023; always enjoy stopping here when in the area, always excellent. They've expanded their outside deck and included TVs, will be able to have large groups for outside dining.
Fall 2022; Third time here, excellent service and food. Diversified menu.
3/15/22; had their lunch buffet, very good. Very large selection and excellent price for a buffet of this size.

Only reason the food isn't getting 5 stars is because I have only had a few things there. I have enjoyed each meal I have had, but need to try more of the menu. Hard to get away from a winner though! Overall great place, and an unexpected good steak! Service is friendly as can be and prompt. Atmosphere is great, as with any crowded place it can be a bit loud, but that's expected. I think we give the food 5 stars anyway!

Our favorite Mexican restaurant. We visit every few weeks. Service is always great and food comes out hot and fast. To be honest we are hooked on the shrimp fajitas, so that's almost always what we order. If you are in the area and you like shrimp you owe it to yourself to give these a try.

Great food, wonderful service, good drinks, awesome atmosphere. I had the Chori Pollo and it was very good!

From the buffet I had steak fajitas, grilled chicken, enchiladas, a sliced chimichanga section, beans, rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, shredded cheese, lettuce.

There were steak quesadillas, 2-3 other meat-stuffed options, hot tortillas, chips & salsa (@ the table) Tapatio or Tabasco hot sauce. (@ the table) The amount of cheese in the dishes made with cheese was extremely wonderful; thick, hot, melty, & had a very wonderful flavor.

Very, very nice & friendly staff. They were medium-busy on a Tuesday @ 11:00 a.m.
I can’t wait to go back.

Of all of the places I have eaten at in the area (including Indiana) this restaurant is by far the best.

The service was top notch. Very little wait.

The chips and salsa are excellent.

I had the Pollo Bandido. The chicken had a great flavor and great grilled taste. The queso that was with the rice and beans was very good.

Advice. Do not ask for the hot salsa. I like stuff pretty hot but I couldn't take but a few drops of that stuff and then head to chase it with beer guacamole or the regular salsa.

My wife had a chimichanga rice beans, pico de gallo. I tasted her food, and it was pretty dang good too.
She had a sweet tea with her meal and she like that also. She is pretty picky about her sweet tea being a native Tarheel. Try the tea.

We didn't have room for dessert because the servings are so large, but I saw some pictures on these reviews and the desserts look like they're worth a shot. I will try them next time.

My family goes here pretty often. It's probably the best Mexican restaurant in Carrollton. Quick service, great staff, and really good food. They always do a great job. The fajitas are top teir

Mi Viejo is hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in the area! Their food is flavorful and their service is excellent! Never a bad experience and I eat here all the time!

So we spent a couple of nights in Carrollton KY while viewing potential retirement properties. The nice lady who checked us in at our hotel steered us away from a nearby Mexican chain restaurant and instead recommended Mi Viejo ('old man' in spanish) just a short distance up the highway. So glad we took her advice! They boasted a very comprehensive menu which included some stateside fare as well. I started our experience with the Mi Viejo dip from the appetizer section which is prepared with queso, chorizo, chicken, spinach, and either jalapeños or habeneros. I elected the habenero addition which is in no way for the faint of heart, but so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it despite the sweat it brought forth.
My entrée selection was the prime rib fajitas (prepared medium rare) and my wife chose a mixed fajita dish combining chicken, shrimp, and beef. Both were exploding with flavor in every bite. I sampled one traditional crunchy taco, because who wouldn't, and was very pleased with the seasoned beef they prepared for that as well.
The bar drinks were well made and to proper taste. We took some of our dip, the made on site chips, and a little of the leftover fajitas home for our son in law to try (he is Mexican born) and he was very impressed as well.
The pricing was very fair for the whole meal which is always an added bonus.
Should one find themselves passing through the area, I highly recommend a stop here!

One of my favorite places to go to with my family! The food is always on point and very affordable. My family of 5 ate there for $50 and that included drinks.

We love Mi Viejo. Their food is fantastic. My husband gets the steak Mexicans every time. It is a 12oz. T-bone streaked that has the best seasoning topped with sauteed tomatoes, onions and peppers. Last time I had the Pollo Bandino. Grilled chicken breast, sliced then covered in their cheese dip with flour tortillas, rice and beans-fantastic. Service is good but most staff speak Spanish better than English so you have to listen very well but it all works out. Staff is very friendly and helpful. You must go here and eat otherwise you are missing one of the best Mexican restaurants.
