Welch's Riverside Restaurant

Well it was just so nice! A hometown restaurant with really good food and the dinner portions were much larger than we were used to. I mean, when you get a catfish strips dinner with sides of house salad and potato salad, you expect a small bowl of three item salad and a 1/2 cup of potato salad. My heavens! the potato salad was filling a big soup bowl, and my salad was layers in a big pasta bowl. The catfish was crunchy, sweet, not greasy, and filled a 10-inch plate. Husband had a cheese burger with onion rings piled up. Said it would have been best if they used Duke's instead of miracle whip for the mayo. Oh, we thought we needed a starter, so we ordered fried mushrooms, delicious, but oh so many. Had to bring most of everything home for later. Definitely will be back!

Have been there twice, really good both times. Salad bar looks small but has a big selection, including chicken and tuna salads, enough to make a meal itself. Fried catfish was lightly breaded and tasty. Service was fast and friendly. I don't know who supplies their ice cream but it is 'way delicious! And, of course, there is that river view....

Seriously... thank you. Quite simply... LOVED the place! Food is delicious, prices are more than fair, the view is nice, and the staff is awesome! Not only are they rather quick and helpful, but they'll put a smile on your face. I have been there 4 times now, I live 45 minutes away, and I WILL be back often. They should get 6 stars! (Omletes, French toast, biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Club sandwich was an awesome lunch. Can't wait to try more.)

A wonderous dining experience. We arrived at General Butler Lodge to find the restaurant closed and the bar with limited options. Welch's looked like the best in town. We were not disappointed. Great view of the river. A fun and more than a bit salty wait staff. Fried pickles were amazing. The bacon on the BLT was the best I've had. Fried Catfish was delicious. Onion rings were great. The fries were ok. All in all a great end to a long travel day.

This restaurant is truly a find. We literally stumbled into it, driving-wise, while driving around town, and decided to give it a try. Coming into the restaurant, you are reminded of the small mom and pop restaurants of years ago, which is a good thing, as everything was tastefully done and was visually appealing as well. When you go just a little further, though, you feel as if you have stepped into another world, there is a rather spacious dining area that has very large picture windows overlooking the river....... The view is breathtaking in is beauty and is worth the trip and visit alone. Truly a picturesque view, and.... This place has character. But, enough about the scenery, there's good food waiting as well here. The menu is not cluttered, as so many places seem to do, but rather concentrating on its strengths. There is a good selection of sandwiches and appetizers to choose from. Lisa had a cheeseburger and fries with Cole slaw and I had a JR Special (burger) with onion rings. The food came out in it's time (meaning that they take the time to do it right☺), and we were not disappointed at all. Both of our burgers were done nicely and had just the right balance of crisp and juiciness to them as well as flavourful. The fries were very good and the onion rings were as well. The cole slaw was creamy and very tasty, making a nice compliment to the meal. And this is a place where you could have a meal of burgers and fries just as much as a sit down dinner (spoiler - the main reason that we did order the burgers, etc. Was that we showed up about 45 minutes before closing, were still driving, and did not want to go too heavy). Also, the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The price is definitely very budget friendly, and for the quality, definitely a great deal. Added together, you get a fantastic dining experience with unmatched river views at a great price. Truly a gem and a place worth making a trip to or as a stop on your trip. You won't be sorry☺!

Ok we decided to search for a new place while camping. Wife came across Welch's so we thought what the heck. When we walked in everyone seated along the wall greeted us will a good morning. We ordered the Jr's platter I was completely blown away by the amount of food we received was 3 eggs, sausage hash browns and two of the best pancakes I have ever eaten. I'm not one to write a review but this is my new go to when camping and can only figure the best family restaurant in Carrollton

Breakfast almost every Sunday. Excellent food. Could use a little more attention on refills but great place to eat. Food is always spot on. Grandbabies love it. The veiw is great, looking over the Ohio River.

It may not be a gourmet restaurant, I suppose, but all the food I've had there is very good, the service is very attentive and the atmosphere is really comfortable, especially given that great view of the river. The salad bar is small but has a surprisingly good variety of items, all fresh. They usually have a choice of desserts, too, including several flavors of ice cream.

Wow!! Homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, butter beans, & flat cornbread!! Excellent food & great view of the Kentucky River!

We enjoyed the American cuisine and location along the Ohio River! Good burgers and breakfast menu. Nice place to enjoy a good cooked meal.

Good food. Big selection. Great service. Wonderful atmosphere over looking the river. A hidden gem!

For My wife's Birthday I was trying to think of somewhere different. We remembered hearing of Welch's. It was about a35 minute drive but with every minute of it. Our waitress was the hardest working young lady you've ever seen. She seated is by the window, and that was awesome having such a great view of the river. We ordered chicken, I ordered the 3 piece meal with fries. They gave me 4 pieces because they weren't huge pieces or whatever. The fries were awesome as well as the chicken. My wife ordered boneless chicken tenders and they were terrific as well. Thanks for a great experience Welch's!

I really enjoyed my breakfast sitting by the window and watching the rivers. My food was cooked correctly and was delicious. The price was good. The service was excellent. Overall a lovely experience! I highly recommend checking this place out

Very relaxed setting, plenty of room, more than enough food on my plate !

The food was delicious, I had the cod sandwich, Mac n cheese and lima beans. The view out back is beautiful. Our waitress was very kind and welcoming, we also got our food in a timely manor. The others in our group had the roast beef and they enjoyed it as well. It is worth the stop in.

The perfect embodiment of the south! Great food, beautiful view of the river, and the sweetest people (and tea)!!!! This has been added to our return to places!!

This was such a treat! We got off the Interstate and drove about 8 miles to this quaint downtown on the Kentucky River.
It looks really small but it's not. The back dining room is right on the water & the food was homemade!
We will stop in again for sure.
It's even a great place for Ice Cream.

Their eggs are perfectly done! Their bacon is the best! And Jr's special breakfast is huge! The view of the river is awesome with glass most all the way around. Coffee is always great. They're fish dinners on Friday are famous!

Everyone amazing! The food was excellent. The service outstanding! The view was perfect! Thank you for the hospitality.
