Brave and Kind Books

This little book store is pretty magical and so are it’s employees. The book selection is great and if your have to order something, it comes in quickly. There were so many cute items and the general feeling I felt inside was LOVE. Reading is magical and the people that help us and our littles do it are EVERYTHING! My little literary village just grew!!!!

What a nice and organized bookstore. Perfect if you're trying to find just the right book gift for a child in your life. The staff is super helpful too. Support a local bookstore!!

I cannot stop saying enough great things about this bookstore. As an African-American woman with African-American children, positive representation is so important. This bookstore is the epitome of all positive representation, from the shelves filled with books featuring Black children and the fact the owner is a Black woman, it's definitely what you want children to see.

My organization had a private Martin Luther King, Jr. event at this bookstore. Bunnie Hilliard, the owner, was a dream to work with. She helped us create and curate books for a book drive that donated books to DFCS and Nicolas House. She took time to read a book about Dr. King to the children.

The bookstore is intimate, quaint, and well organized with books for various children's age groups.

I'm so happy it's in existence and that it can have such a positive impact on children and culture.

I recently visited on a short trip for a conference. This place is INCREDIBLE. I wanted to buy all the unique books for my kids! The owner was super personable and friendly, offering her recommendations to me. This place is highly appealing to kids and families. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to shop for a great book for kids. You will have a hard time choosing!

The best bookstore! They have a great selection of children’s books that you can pick up or ship. I got some books from them for my baby shower and they were SO CUTE. There is always a great selection of both classic children’s books and also more modern ones to order. Their customer service cannot be beat! I always recommend them to anyone looking for a gift for a little babe.

I ordered a 4 pack of books as a Christmas gift for my toddler. There was a miscommunication about which 4 books would be included, so when they arrived I was disappointed to find that my sons favorite story was not included. I messaged the store and was informed that the selection is random and that the website was incorrect for listing specifics. They indicated that the story I was looking for was out of stock, hence was not included in the bundle. They apologized for the mistake and quickly changed the wording on the website to prevent others from having this issue. They also offered to send the book I was disappointed about missing once it was restocked. Here we are over 3 months later and the book arrived with a sweet personalized note. Amazing customer service! Spectacular small business!

Great selection of children's books, gifts, and toys! The booksellers are super friendly. It's in a nice, quiet location and is also beside a bar and grill, so it might be a really fun afternoon visit! I walked to this location but there appears to be ample parking in the back, which is always nice to have.

My new favorite place!! Bunnie has done the most amazing job of curating the perfect collection of children’s books. B+K is a calm, beautiful space.

My daughter LOVEs playing at the chalkboard wall & my favorite thing is that the owner doesn’t crowd the store with a million choices.

Bonus: they have started carrying gifts as well so you can knock out 2 birds w/one stone by picking up a hostess, new baby, or a get-well gift while shopping with the kiddos!

Their selection is unparalleled and beautifully curated and they often have author and community events for the whole family! Check them out!

I've done contactless pickup and had books shipped to me from here since the pandemic started. They carry more than just children's books! They helped me order a copy of a book I couldn't find online, and every delivery has come quickly and with a sweet handwritten note. I will support this bookstore every chance I get.

Hands down my favorite bookstore of all time! Bunnie does a great job of cultivating books that reflect her mission of teaching our children (and ourselves) to be brave and kind. She takes extra care of the small details that matter both in the physical space and in the packaging for gifts.
