San José Mexican Restaurant

San Jose was great for my birthday lunch. We had a large group including little kids and we got to sit downstairs which was great. Our waiter was fast, efficient and very accommodating. Food was delicious as always!

GET THE FAJITAS!! The food is excellent here! Consistently fresh and hot and good! Best tortilla chips in all of STL. The guac is fire and I'm never disappointed when I'm here. Love the staff, S/O to Juan who takes good care of me and my friends/family every time.

It was delicious! The salsa and chips are scrumdidilyumpcious 😋 the food was so filling. The service was prefect as well, thank y'all for the great experience!

I got a raspberry margarita.... So good! And I did the pick three with Chile relleno, Verde chicken enchilada and a beef taco. Food is great and nice portion. Also I liked that there was outside seating. I will be back.

This place has fantastic flavors in all of their food. The staff is polite and knowledgeable. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in STL.

San Jose is my favorite Mexican restaurant, and possibly favorite restaurant in general. The food is amazingly delicious, way more flavor than most Mexican restaurants. Fresh and delicious with huge portions. Chips and salsa are fantastic, as well as the margaritas. One of the few places that makes margaritas both delicious and strong. Finally, the service is unmatched. The servers are always running around the restaurant taking care of everyone as fast as they possibly can. Sometimes you have to wait a bit and sometimes they are understaffed (but what restaurant isn't these days), but I've never waited more than probably 5-10 minutes for food, so the wait is always worth it and they make up for it once you sit down at the table. LOVE THIS PLACE!

Food was delicious. Vanessa our server was fantastic and funny. The 'manager' was a jerk. As the hostess is taking us to our table, he tells us we have to go to bar until our whole party is there. Our table sits empty for 10 minutes, then we have to move with our drinks to a half booth/3 chairs downstairs for our party of 6. I was with two seniors who have trouble walking and asked if we could have the open table with chairs on the main floor. Unaccomodating 'manager' snaps NO, that's for a party of 8. That table was empty for the entire time we were there. Even though the food and Vanessa were outstanding, I will take my business to a place where management is respectful and accomodating to the special needs of their customers.

I wasn’t expecting much, but this place is an absolute hit. Friendly staff, fast service, and great food!

This was my first visit, but it won't be my last. It was fantastic! They had a sign posted that they were short staffed and asked for patience. I only ever saw 2 different people working the entire time I was there, but they both worked super fast and took care of everything like they were fully staffed. The restaurant was very clean and there was a great atmosphere. Now the food... Chips and salsa right away as expected, their salsa was great! I ordered Tacos al Pastor, and man were they delicious! Very satisfied with the experience, I will definitely be checking them out again!

The food is pretty much par for the course here and nothing special. The atmosphere was good and seems like it would be even better when the place is more lively.

Quaint little restaurant situated on a corner of two streets and right next to some railroad tracks. The food was delicious, I ordered a Fajitas Texascana. Grilled strips of chicken, steak and shrimp and sauteed with green bell pepper and onions. Absolutely awesome!!! Our waiter never wrote anything down, he memorized our entire order and we got everything we needed.

Definitely going back to a great place!! Friendly staff and a pleasant dining experience.

The service at San Jose is outstanding!! The servers always greet us with a smile and check in frequently during our meal! The food is delicious, very flavorful, with large portions!! We love to sit on the colorful patio!

Went earlier this week and will be happy to return! Nice big windows in the dining room, looked like they also have upstairs and outdoor dining areas as well. Cute neighborhood to watch out the window. Service was excellent -- fast, friendly, accurate. Def recommend.

The food here tastes great and service is pretty good, but what I like most is their willingness to cater to dietary restrictions. They're always helpful and ask additional questions to be sure they have it right. Even with my needed adjustments, I never have to sacrifice taste.

Very nice atmosphere. I sat at the bar and had a beer while I waited for my order. The gentleman that greeted me was very pleasant. When I got home and finally had a bite, it was sooo good I will return! 🙂 very happy customer

Delicious margaritas and cold beer! The appetizers were also good. Fresh ingredients used and you could taste the difference! Well worth a visit!

This place is so good. The server put our diet coke in giant frozen beer cups and I was delighted with it. They are very kind and have great personality.
