My new favorite bookstore in Asheville! Fabulously curated selection and helpful and kind staff. So many book covers facing out makes for an incredible browsing experience. Sale tables in the back and adorable children’s section.

One of my favorite independent bookstores in the US. Radical to the core and always supporting the community.

I really love this book shop. It’s a safe space for everyone, there’s small book events and have snacks too! Fantastic selection of books and great customer service.

I had the loveliest first visit to the store yesterday. I don't purchase books very often since I work for a large library system but this shop has the dreamiest curation. I especially appreciate the community care when it comes to masking. Looking forward to spending more time here and I hope the masking policy stays. :)

Where do I begin?! Firestorm has been a positive force in our community for many years, reaching back to a time when the local flavor was much more pronounced. (Do you remember?) Alas. The coop folks got n95 masks in the thick of COVID-19 to supply to anyone who needed them. They are caring to our siblings and neighbors who do not have homes and that means a lot to me. I have learned a lot from the community and from the books I’ve bought. The care, evident even in shipped products, is offered in their kindness and style that only a beloved anarchist bookstore coop could give! I am grateful to be a Sustainer on Patreon (highly recommend!) and that I get to shop with Firestorm. The joy is mine and not only mine. I am pumped about your new place, too. Thank you ALL for your efforts and impact on our community. ♥

Amazing, friendly staff. Excellent book curation, and in the rare case where I'm unable to find what I'm looking for they've always special-ordered for me. Sometimes they get review bombed by the "ban books" type because they are fierce advocates for justice and liberation. You can safely ignore those reviews. These folks are sweet, the space is beautiful and clean, and important to the Asheville community. By far my favorite bookstore.

Super awesome shop! I visited their old location over the summer, it’s very cute and there was lots of books and a little zine rack too. The person at the counter was super friendly and we chatted about some of the books I got. Totally worth checking out and excited to see the new location and cafe! 🥰
Their online shop is really awesome as well. If you are in the southeast the shipping is cheaper and faster than getting it off larger online booksellers. So I always check firestorm first!!

My favorite bookstore on the east coast. The staff is always very nice and helpful, and they have a great collection of books that I haven't been able to find at many other bookstores. Also who wouldn't love a bookstore that has a dog named Julius Caesar Salad?

I unfortunately don't live near enough to visit the shop, but I have made two online orders. A book and a shirt. Both were shipped and arrived promptly. The book was a book. The shirt was higher quality than expected. Recently even the more expensive shirts I have bought are just not great but this one was nice and soft. I'm sure I'll buy more from Firestorm and will be eager to visit if I'm in the area.

Wonderful feminist bookstore!! Amazing selection of books and coffee/other drinks for purchase. Love that they charge $1 for takeaway disposable cups vs to stay mugs!

Firestorm is a great bookstore, its new location is so beautiful, and the selection of materials is eclectic and enlightening. But more than anything, it’s the people who work there who make Firestorm special. Kind, super knowledgeable, and eager to help you find the perfect book, and dedicated to offering a place of inclusivity. They can do special orders too, just ask! So happy to have this place and these wonderful people in the neighborhood ❤

My favorite local bookstore! A delightful place to hang out, great selection, solid kid's section, and the kindest staff.

I've lived in Asheville for a few years, but this was my first time in this bookstore (I don't go out much...) and loved it! Great, welcoming atmosphere and enjoyed talking with the staff. I really appreciate how clear it is where they stand politically, and I felt right at home. I have a deep desire to learn more about anarchy and was happy to (obviously) find a great selection of books to familiarize myself with it. There were also a lot of wonderful fiction selections, LGBTQ+ works, POC works, etc. Will definitely be back to allow them to take all my money again. (No seriously, I went in wanting to only buy 2, maybe 3 books MAX and left with 6...oops) Thank you to the lovely staff for making a bookstore like this possible!
