such a cool tour, Franco was our tour guide and he was so funny and made a good environment to ask questions! really cool that they allow tours and the info they share is really interesting! it’s free and not super long so it’s a fun short thing to do, plus they have good merch and a cute cafe in there

An innovative jewel in Asheville’s crown, Citizen Vinyl is part record-pressing factory, part history lesson, part cafe and part kick-back lounge.

Loved the vinyl playlist, loved my Curried Cauliflower Bowl, loved the friendly service and easy vibe, loved looking around at years of time and music distilled into one inimitable concept.

I waited too long to experience this place - don’t make the same mistake.

Fast, delicious food with counter service and a nice cafe/bar selection to accompany. I had the Curried Cauliflower Bowl, which was packed fill of bright flavors and an oatmilk cortado. I sat upstairs with plenty of bright indirect light for curing the winter blues. Fabulous music selection, though today I brought my own noise cancel headset to eliminate distractions.

Really cool to see how they press vinyls and all the cool designs. Beautiful ambiance and good vegan food options too!

Amazing space, business & staff! We went on a tour with our homeschool group -- very fun, informative and intriguing. Thanks for accomodating us! Love the cafe/bar they offer any day of the week, will be back to enjoy a day to myself for some lunch ☺🙏🏼

Chilled out Sunday morning vibe, quaffable lattes with perfect art - one triple and the other single shot, the barista split the shot for me! Great tasting coffee and those porcelain cups were just the extra we needed. The scramble is vegetarian and a delicious combo, you are certainly left wanting more.

Amazing chill spot to relax, have a coffee, try a pastry or something on their lunch menu. It’s so quaint and love the old school feel of it. I have the jerk pork sandwich and it was amazing. Came out piping hot and seasoned so well. Great to pop in after a day of shopping and take a load off.

What a gem Citizen Vinyl turned out to be. Immediately upon entering I recognize the throwback sounds of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill on record. This mecca has a quality coffee shop, record store, and record pressing which you can see through large windows. The staff here is very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Pricing is better than standard for a hip coffee shop, and the vibe makes it an even better deal. I didn't purchase any food, so I can't comment on the quality. However, the mocha latte I ordered was wonderful. The to-go cups are corrugated in a manner that mimics the sleeve on other cups so you don't burn your hand, which makes just carrying your coffee around so much more convenient. There is a balcony which is accessible by staircase right next to the service counter. This place is fairly spacious as well. Next time I'm in the Asheville area I'll for sure be back. Well done, Citizen Vinyl. Cheers!

Newspaper presses once ran all day in this building - and now that same spirit of production is back with presses made for creating vinyl records. Now They have a coffee shop, alcohol libations and sandwiches. And you can also buy records. Currently they have a free tour. Call for info as to times. Built in 15 months in 1938-1939, The Asheville Citizen Times Building was designed by architect Anthony Lord as the grand center for the city’s two newspapers and radio station WWNC. Located at 14 O’Henry Avenue, the massive three-story building of reinforced concrete, black granite and limestone is considered Asheville’s finest example of Art Moderne design. With soaring twenty-two foot ceilings, mezzanines with curved railings, and 20,000 glass blocks providing natural light and insulation, there is no other space like it in Asheville

My husband and I love crate digging on weekends and we especially like to visit new record stores when we are traveling. We really enjoyed the relaxed and hybrid record store-bar-cafe setting at Citizen Vinyl. While they don't have the largest collection of records, they do press records on site and have tours on weekends to go behind the scenes and learn more about the process. You can see through to their pressing facility, but you actually have to reserve times in order to tour. Times on Fridays and Sundays are free so we will certainly check that out on our next visit back.

Really cool place to watch them press vinyl. The cafe area smelled wonderful. Plenty of seating. Definitely a neat place to stop by. Prices were reasonable and had older vinyls on sale for $3-8.

Citizen Vinyl is one of the many places that make Asheville a memorable place to live and visit. Our area is rich in music history. We are so fortunate to have a fun place like this to enjoy. Try the Rhubarb cocktail.

This vinyl pressing facility/coffee & cafe bar serves as a dream wedding venue in Downtown Asheville. Such a fun and hip backdrop for events and weddings. The best place in Asheville for creative, fun, and candid wedding photography. As an Asheville wedding photographer and videographer, I can say, these two brides adored this venue for as the perfect place for their wedding album and video.

This is such a chill, cozy, accepting space. Whether you want a trendy spot to gather, a comforting, cozy spot to meet up, or a stimulating solitary space to just be, this is such a gem. The food is a step above, and there is almost any kind of delight one could ask for. Parking is easy nearby, in the Wall St garage or many meter options surrounding the Grove Park Inn. You will be lucky to find this place.

Citizen's Vinyl is a very cool place that is mainly a vinyl pressing plant with a recording studio. I highly recommend the tour. They don't do a lot of tours, but you need to sign up and they are free. Jen was our tour guide and was fantastic! (Definitely tip your guide!!) She started with the history of the building Citizen's Vinyl is located in - the old Asheville Citizens Times and WWNC Radio. Fitting that they now press vinyl.

Inside, it's not only a vinyl record pressing facility, but there are food places, a bar and vinyl records, new and used, for sale. They also sell vintage equipment, although the selection is small. The plant has 3 presses, 1 manual one and two automatic. Definitely fun to watch!

Jen gives a wonderfully rich and informative tour of the facility, focusing on the actual creation/processing of the vinyl but also including the music recording studio and many facts about the multi-purpose building history. Her knowledge of the record making process and her enthusiasm is amazing and contagious. And no I did not get any compensation for this but I just had to post. 10 stars.

Best coffeeshop in Asheville hands down! Incredible vibe with the classic vinyl records for sale. Perfection with the Cortado and Pour Over. Amazing food that’s so delicious! A must stop every time I’m visiting from out of town!
