Great gym with more amenities than other gyms in the area. Has a pool, weight room, basketball court, yoga studio, steam sauna, and dry sauna. Plus it’s clean and well maintained with good staff.

I love the YMCA in downtown Asheville! I especially love personal training as it motivates and encourages me. I’m much stronger and more capable than I was a year ago. I like how many rooms there are too, so I can often find an uncrowded space to do my solo workouts in. I get gym anxiety so this is the biggest perk to me. It would be nice if there was always a room like this (sometimes classes book both studios).

I and my family have been members at the Asheville ymca since 1993, mostly attending woodfin street downtown, often Reuters location, rarely woodfin and Candler’s Ferguson to find the evening or saturday class I need.
Staff are always great, with enthusiastic and careful certified instructors.
I started doing HIIT, athletic conditioning, TRX and sometimes yoga and pilates classes three times per week in 2015 and LOVE the motivation that group classes give me to show up and work really hard. What i like most is how i feel at the end of class having done what i need to do!
I also make a point to donate each year to the kids’ summer camp program.

I love everything about the YMCA, especially the Woodfin location where I work out. It doesn't have a pool, and it certainly is short of space. But it does have a "community" feel that makes it special. It's like the Cheers of YMCAs. Everybody knows your name!

The front desk people are always friendly and welcoming. The instructors and personal trainers are great. Jessica Medlin does a great job juggling the various class schedules. I could go on and on.

I proudly volunteer and the Woodfin Y and gratefully serve on its Advisory Board. It really is a welcoming and inclusive space, with a focus on physical and emotional well being.

I loooove the Asheville YMCA. I've been a member for about 7 months now. My only regret is not taking any of the classes. However, i think that's a testament to how many amenities are already provided. The weight rack is great as I can get my lifts in. And there are more than enough treadmills and cardio machines to use. I love that there are machines for a variety of skill levels too. I think that is so helpful for people who are just beginning to get into fitness. While I don't use the pool too often, I love that it is there for me to use when I want to. My favorite amenity is definitely the racquetball court. I often begin my workout with a match with my boyfriend. It's a fun way to bond before doing our separate workouts. I love finishing off my workout with the sauna! And the friendly staff is an added bonus. I don't talk a lot or interact with others when I workout, but I love the friendly staff that smile and say Hi and Bye, it really tops off my experience.

I love the Y and for me it’s a perfect place to practice spinning in my Cyr wheel. The classes are fun too. The trainers are very friendly and supportive. They want to see you grow through your training and make you feel special. I also like running into people I know.

I'm grateful for the Financial Assistance program allowing me to pay based off of my income. It is really great for me to be using the gym. I go swimming about 3-4 times a week and it's great for my mental health. The staff are always awesome and knowledgeable as well.

Chris from the South YMCA helped get me signed up. He was awesome and I'm so grateful for him reaching out and making my experience so good. But it doesn't stop there. I drove to the downtown location after our call and officially joined. The woman that works there was great and took the time to show me around. We shared a few laughs and she was really cool. The other two people working there were also really great. I now work out six days a week, lead a healthy lifestyle and I see and feel so many positive changes everyday. Thanks YMCA!
