I loved the trails! We did the diamond trail, with our 3 little kids (6,8, & 9). It wasn't the easiest trail but easy enough for our kindergartener.
The scenery was beautiful & we loved the water we saw.
Will definition go back.

beautiful & quick hiking trail within the city. would’ve loved to see the waterfall in full display but it was lovely. quiet time didn’t see anyone but one person for like a few seconds.

Beautiful area, well kept paths, no litter in sight. A few other groups there walking but not crowded or too busy. Unfortunately NOT wheel chair or stroller accessible. The roots on the path and steep slopes were beautiful, but wheels would not be able to travel on it.

A really awesome place to go hiking! I enjoyed every second of it.

No bathrooms that I could see or even benches. Be weary of what you leave in the car because there have been many car break ins. There is glass in the parking lot. It is also a small parking lot and can get crowded fast.

Beautiful day for a hike. Family, dog friendly & great for couples.

Well marked map at the parking lot. Basically 2 mile loop with extra loop if you want to take it could add another mile.

There are additional bridges & overlook area since February when we were here last.

And, this is designated part of the North Carolina Mountain To Sea Trail (MST).

No paved paths - 100% dirt, root & rock.
No rest rooms or drinking water.
3 places to sit & rest if you want to picnic or sit and enjoy the elements for a while. - picnic table, bench by waterfalls & overlook.

Hiking boots recommended & hiking pole if you have them, as the leaves are slippery & there are plenty of roots on the trails.

Very pleasant. I was a bit surprised there was so much elevation change on the trail, but it was very welcome for me. Some parts of the trail can be a bit narrow, but they're in a nice part of the woods, and the cascades themselves are very nice as well. It was quite a bit more crowded than I expected, but it was a Saturday. I'll have to go on a weekday next time.

Nice trails, they are well marked and maintained. Some up and down in elevation but not difficult. Some roots exposed.

Very nice trail, I would say it was moderate, my toddler did just fine on it. Very beautiful, a bunch of roots hidden under the dead leaves at this time of year so watch your step. There was an extra loop that could be taken, we stayed on the main loop tho. There is also a couple places to stop and rest if need be. The parking lot is fairly small, maybe enough room for 14 cars, we got the last spot when we showed up, so the trail can only have so much traffic at once which is nice.

Very well marked trail. It has a picnic table and some benches. There are a lot of roots , some slippery places , and crossing a creek.

Miles of walking trails, streams, bridges, etc. A full loop is about 1.8 miles with a total of about 100ft of elevation change. The cascading stream is beautiful!

My favorite hiking spot. The upper loop can be kind of challenging due to incline, but the lower loop is very easy. The whole hike,is beautiful.

It was a nice hike through the woods. The trail was visible and the scenery was peaceful.

Very peaceful and scenic. The gunfire you'll hear VERY rarely is from the law enforcement practice range on the south side of Goodwill Church Road at the bottom on the hill, across from the old Waste Industries landfill entrance, just inside the Guilford County line. They practice and qualify at very random times, occasionally at night. We live a mile away and can always hear the gunfire when the range is active. The chances of your solitude being interrupted at Cascades are minimal.

We took our dog for a hike at Cascades Preserve on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. There are a couple short trails through the preserve, totaling about 2 miles. The trails are easy to moderate, a few uphill and downhill sections but mostly level and easy to follow. The preserve is named for a small tributary with a series of small cascades. The water was pretty low, so would like to return in higher water levels. Overall, a nice little park and great place for an easy but enjoyable hike in nature.
